As our area faces a massive cold front from the Pacific Northwest and we're supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow. Any first snow pictures? Any good ideas for first snow pictures?

You have fun with that.![]()
I will be waving to you from way up here by Glacier... where it's supposed to be bloody cold, but we aren't forecasted to share your snow. I couldn't believe it when I saw the snow amounts predicted for SW Montana... YUCK!I am just not ready to go there yet.
I think if I were in your shoes (snowshoes?) I would be taking out some Halloween decorations and posing them artfully in the fresh snow.
Not very interesting, but for the first snow of the year (if it's a good one, which is rarely is here in NJ...more like slush and a little bit of brown dirty snow) I like to take a picture somewhere that has not been touched yet. No footprints, no dirty snow...just a white blanket (usually first thing in the morning). I just think it ends up being a really serene picture and reminds me of that feeling I used to get when I was little of waking up and seeing the snow blanket in the front yard and knowing we wouldn't have school.![]()
Another picture I really like to take is if you get sticky snow, the way a tree looks when the branches have snow piled up on them or even better...once every blue moon, if you get a lot of ice I love the pictures of the trees after an ice storm, all encapsulated in glossy ice that is just starting to melt as the sun comes up.
We can see snow from our house - the Sierra Nevada's got it on Oct 3rd. I did NOT take pictures though - I'm in denial that summer is over.![]()
Say it isn't SNOW, Joe!
I'm trying to find the good in the bad.Sad for snow, but maybe I can get some good pics out of it.
Seriously, I mowed all my lawns this week, I am NOT ready for snow. Half of my neighbors haven't even had their sprinklers blown out yet.
So MontanaZoo, how's things today?
I read in the newspaper that there had been some losses of power in Billings, and that it was snowing pretty good in some areas... are you getting snowed on?
Thinking of you, and hoping you stay safe and warm!
Still have power, it's more the southern part of town that's in trouble. They're predicting up to 2 feet by Sunday night. I hope that's a joke! I can't even remember the last time we got 2 feet of snow. Our trees will all be crushed.
Going out to take pics of the snow...so far on this part of town it's just a light skiff...supposed to pile up saturday night/sunday.
Well, I guess if I lose power, don't have to work and I can just go take pictures of the snow all day.![]()
