First Signs Of Pregnancy? UPDATE PG 5

Definitely get a test. I got pregnant on the pill and I have a now healthy and beautiful 19yo DD.

I was trying both times, so I could tell by the missed monthly. If I had not been monitoring, I would only have been able to tell when the daily vomiting arrived around week 6.

vettechick--I guess!

I've had severe low back pain and bloating and a missed period.
I'm 7 days late, on the pill....
what do you guys think?

I would get a test. BTW I tested myself middle of the day both times. I would check tonight!

I also think you might just be late, and stressing about it is probably prolonging the darned thing!

help!!!!!

What were your first signs?

With both my daughters, I started getting sick....not morning sickness, but all day everyday, in fact I was on IV fluids for 3 weeks at home and then a week in the hospital with my 2nd. No test needed for me.

With my DD, I was really crampy the night before I got my first positive test. I was so sure that my period was coming. I also had the purple road map veins in my breasts. :yuck: I also lost my appetite for the next 3 months. I never got sick from morning sickness, but I felt yucky a lot. I would get home from work, take a 2 hour nap, then wake up and eat a bowl of cereal, then go back to bed for the night.

With my DS, I knew sooner than the night before. Or at least I had a feeling that I might be pregnant. My lower back hurt a week before I tested positive. The veins showed up again. :( And I was dead tired. But that could have been from chasing around my DD who had just turned one year old. Actually, we probably conceived her brother on her birthday!

Good luck!

You should always due early pregnancy tests in the a.m. Hormones are more concentrated at that time because of sleeping and not urinating. I got pregnant both times on the pill ( it can definately happen). I see women all the time coming into L&D that got pregnant on birth control.

My first sign was my sense of smell. I could smell anything. Didn't start getting  for a few weeks but then it didn't quit.

Good Luck, I hope you are or aren't according to your wishes.

Mine was just being exhausted, I would come home from work and climb in bed! :)

With #1 I was totally clueless--thought I had the flu. And in my defense, I had a period the first month. But I was sick!

With #2, I woke up dragging. So tired. I went by Starbucks to grab coffee and it just about made me throw up at the taste. The whole idea of food made me sick. So tired, Thought I night be sick, but the lightbulb went off that night that I was finally pg again.

With #3, I opened the fridge and just felt sick. I also knew that something was just different.

Have you ever skipped a period while on the pill before? Personally, I was on Ortho Tri-Cylen for 12 years and I never skipped or was late 7 days. That would be a red flag for me.

Definitely test, though. I hope you get the answer you are looking for!

I was on the pill also and never missed (I could time it to almost the hour most of the time) Take one just to be sure and I took it in the afternoon.

Thanks for all your responses.

I guess I'll need to take a test.
I'm wondering if I should just go to the drs for a test.

most likely all they will do at the doctors is the same kind of test you can buy over the counter. doubt they would start with a blood test, although you never know. Seriously, I'd just go get a First Response or whatever, make sure to read the directions, and take it in the morning.

Good luck!

I was on LoOvral and missed a month. I was paranoid, but I'd been diligent about taking them-must have been all the travelling I had done for work (flying between LI and MD for 8 weeks).

With #1, I knew the next morning because of signs of ovulation. No other symptoms until a positive pregnancy test. The extreme fatigue set in at 6 weeks.

#2, I knew we concieved when we did! We took older son trick or treating and DH was wearing a goofy grin all night saying "I'll get my treat in 9 months". Got the flu a week later and bought both the pregnancy test and Theraflu. Went home and tested and had a positive test even though my period wasn't due for another week.

Our OB/GYN uses the same tests you get in the store ( unless your getting a blood test) ours tells us to take a test at home then call and schedule our first ob apt...lol

Take a home test, they are very accurate. First thing in the morning is best BUT I did it 5 days before my period, in the middle of the day, and it came up positive.

To your orig. question - breasts hurt I was so tired!

Have you taken any other medications this month? Antibiotics can interfere with the Pill so it is suggested that you use a back up method of BC. One month I took Prednisone for allergies and completely skipped my period and I was taking BC at the time....good luck :)

Exhausted all the time - wanting to take a nap in the middle of the day, sore breasts, feeling like I was getting my period but nothing happening. I just "knew" too.

It is best to take PG tests with the first morning urine. This site rates all of the PG tests available on the market: www.peeonastick.com

My friend just went thru this and out of 5 tests that she took (yes she was a bit obsessive) 2 were postive and 3 were negative. She WAS pregnant but the only tests that showed positive were the 2 she took first thing in the morning even though they all said that you could test any time of day.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

I "had my suspicions" with my first only when a co worker came to work one day and said "Girl, if I am not the one that's pregnant, then it must be you. I keep dreaming about fish...I mean BIG fish and my Grandmother always said if you're dreaming about fish, then someone's pregnant." I laughed. Then I said "okay, so what are some of the other superstitions your Grandmother had?" and she said, "well, if you are pregnant, then a cat will follow you home." Again, I laughed.
That afternoon, I pulled into my driveway and got out of the car and walked to the mailbox. As I got near to the mailbox, I looked across the street and a HUGE cat was walking across the neighbors yard. I thought about my friends words and snickered to myself, got the mail and noticed the cat making a beeline for me. I started running and screaming and ran up the front porch and slammed the door...just as the cat got to the porch. He didn't make it into the house so he leaped up with all four paws onto our front window and sat there meowing staring at me for five minutes. I was FREAKED OUT.
The next day I got a test and it was, surprise, surprise, positive.
The day after that, I went to a 36-freaking double-xyz cup size bra. Everyone thought I had gotten breast implants over the weekend at work.
I didn't show until I was 8 months pregnant so no one knew but my superstitious co worker. :teeth:
Good luck to the OP, and if a cat follows you home, well, you know the answer! :lmao:
