First Signs Of Pregnancy? UPDATE PG 5

Tender breasts, especially the nipples. I couldn't even let the water hit them in the shower.

Denae

This was me, too.

A little later on came the nausea, food & smell aversions and extreme exhaustion.

Found myself ordering grilled fish in a restaurant (which I NEVER do - hate the smell) and had the strange metallic taste in my mouth. I could not drink any soda while pregnant...but as soon as I delivered my first baby, I sent dh out for a Coke IMMEDIATELY! :-)

Before my period was even late, I had incredible breast tenderness. I remember sitting in the rocking chair one night putting my DD to bed (reading a story). She leaned her head back on my chest and I thought I was going to go through the roof. I also had some mild bouts of queasiness before my period was late, but they were very sporadic. This was all with my second pregnancy and maybe I was more in tune to things.

With my first pregnancy, I don't recall the sore breasts or queasiness until after I knew I was pregnant.

#1 I was sicker than a dog

#2 I knew the night we concieved her, it was odd but I just knew and even told my best friend that night..sure enough I was pregnant

#3 I dont really remember

#4 I was tired all the time but contributed it to just having a baby less than 2 months earlier so when I went to the doctors for my 6 week checkup from having #3 they ran a blood test to check my iron and to see if I was possibly pregnant....nothing like going to your 6 week checkup and finding out your pregnant again :thumbsup2 :lmao:

With Madison I was very tired, my breasts were so sore, I couldn't sleep on my stomach (weird cause the baby is what, the size of a pinhead, but I felt like something was in there), and then something I'm surprised no one else mentioned, but I was waking up to pee everynight, which I otherwise never do. All of that was before my period was due, about a week before. Didn't gain any weight with her till around 16 weeks or so.

With this pregnancy, I got really sick, like a flu, right after this baby was conceived. I didn't think it had any relation (since it was probably before it even implanted) but my friend told me the same thing happened to her with both her of pregnancies. Other than that flu, I had no other symptoms at all but I just knew cause of dates/timing so I tested the day my period was due and sure enough it was positive. I stopped nursing my daughter about a week after this one was conceived so I really thought I'd have more breast tenderness, but that took about 7-8 weeks before it kicked in. So far this time, I've lost 9 pounds and haven't started showing at all and considering I'm 14 weeks and still vomiting everyday I think it will be even longer till I gain any weight with this one.

With both pregnancies, the all day morning sickness kicked in at 5.5 weeks so if I hadn't noticed the missed period or any other symptoms that would have given it away for me.

For me, both times, it was EXTREME heartburn, like a terrible burning up in my chest and throat. Both times it occurred on the day my period was due. The other sign, obviously, was that my monthly "friend" didn't come.

Otherwise, just normal PMS symptoms leading up to that, including sore breasts, cramps, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

~justhat~~~ something I'm surprised no one else mentioned, but I was waking up to pee everynight, which I otherwise never do. ~~~~

Oh yeah - forgot about that. That stunk....

Yes, I pee'd like crazy. I'd go pee - walk back the couch, sit down, and have to get up and pee again. :confused3

I concur with all of the others who have mentioned that their breasts were the first sigh. ::yes:: Even before I missed a period, even before the exhaustion set in I knew from the tingly feeling that I felt in my breasts. Much like it feels when the milk "lets down" when you are nursing, but perhaps not so intense.

For me it was a very distinctive sensation, unlike any other.

I've been pregnant four times (three kids, one miscarriage) and had the same symptoms IMMEDIATELY every time: indigestion and a low grade fever. The first time I suspected I was pg, but thought I had a virus, too. Now I know that's just how my body reacts. The fever lasted a couple of weeks.

I agree with you and Justhat! I think that's why I was tired all the time. Forever running to the RR to p! It was crazy!!! Always had that feeling that I had to go, even when I just went! That was early in pregnancy too!

I had to know where the RRs were wherever I went. I'd get kind of panicky if I didn't know. Isn't that nuts?! I still do it to this day, for different reasons. Now it's "just in case" for my kids! :) :lmao:

Without a doubt, the running to the RR was a big, big sign. (I had a lot of the other sx mentioned here too!)

I had a low grade fever with all 4---by #3, I knew that to be my first sign. :) I did have breast changes with #1 but after that, it was never enough to be a warning/sign (bummer :rotfl: ).

I didn't show with #1 until I was about 5 months along. By #3, I looked 4 months pregnant by the 6th week. :scared:

with my first I felt like I was getting my period...sore breasts, bloating, a wee bit of cramping....then it all just went away, but no period.

with my second (and third...twins), I had heartburn about 5 or so days before I was due to start. The only other time I had had heartburn was when I was pg with my first, so I just kind of knew.

uh, vacanut...does this mean someone needs to test???

vettechick--I guess!

I've had severe low back pain and bloating and a missed period.
I'm 7 days late, on the pill....
what do you guys think?

We were trying and I was doing the basal body temperature tracking and I noticed the implantation bleeding (real light). I didn't have any other symptoms until about 5 weeks in when the all day sickness started.

I skipped most of the other sickness including the sore chest, bloating, fatigue and heart burn but the all day sickness more than made up for it :scared:

The only symtom I had with my first DD was a missed period and with my 2nd DD I was getting nauseous and dizzy when I drove and didn't know why untill I missed my period and found out I was pregnant again.

Buy a test. I'm a huge fan of First Response. Get a pack that has more than one test in it, because trust me, no matter what answer you get you'll want to test again...if its positive you won't believe the first test, and if its negative wait a few days and try again.

Make sure to take it the test first thing in the morning with FMU (first morning urine).

Good luck. Hope you get the answer you are looking for.

I would definitely test. At least you won't keep worrying and wondering. Do you usually have severe back pain with your period? Sometimes being on the pill a long time, you will have a period with little to no bleeding. But the back pain kinda concerns me.

If you do a test and it comes back postitive, and you still have back pain, call your doctor right away.
