First round of stimulus checks deposited today

This is what my daughter is panicked about. She wasn’t claimed by us and doesn’t live here since November of last year. She works part time because she’s in college but lost her job because of all this. Would the irs even know she “could have“ been claimed by us?
I am panicked too. For DS. Is she on your health insurance? My DS was not even listed as a student 2018 or 2019 (though was in CC part time). Worked full time. Lived on his own. Only thing is he is on our health insurance. Nephew is on SIL's too. Her other son, also a part time student and working full time on his own, is not on her insurance and he got his stimulus today. So did that flag this group...being on parents' health insurance???

My oldest is 24 and she was on our tax return in 2018, but not 2019. She is shown to be getting her stimulus check deposited today. She is still on our health insurance as she would have to pay for hers at work, so I don't think the health insurance comes into play.

No,she’s not on our insurance.that wording is worrying me though. We haven’t claimed her for the last 2 years Even though she just moved out in November. I’m not sure what she’s going to do if she doesn’t get this money. She applied for unemployment too but because she moved it took her a bit to find a job so it doesn’t look like she will qualify for that either. She may not have made enough in the quarter? (I’m not real familiar with how that works)

Why is the wording, of who is NOT eligible, this?

You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return. For example, this would include a child, student or older dependent who can be claimed on a parent’s return.

As opposed to 'you WERE claimed as dependent on parent's taxes'?
If you claimed anyone over the age of 16 as a dependent on your most recently filed taxes, they are not eligible for any money.

Was she taking any college classes in 2018 or 2019?

I didn't claim DS-23. Just twin DDs-21. And DS-23 did not get money. Last claimed DS in 2017. He has lived on his own, in his own apartment, and worked full time since 2017. But he was taking some classes at CC. And on our health insurance.

The government/IRS has no way of knowing who's on who's insurance. All you need to do is provide proof of insurance, not who's on it. Insurance has absolutely nothing to do with who gets the money.

Not everyone is getting it on the same day. It is being rolled out in waves.
Well, sigh, fingers crossed. But not sure why it doesn't say pending for his status instead of the can't determine eligibility message.

Got my direct deposit check this morning. Went immediately to paying down my credit card.

She graduated college in spring 2018 and we used her as a college student for credits. I had read that IRS would look at 2018 or 2019, so I made sure to file her 2019 taxes when this stimulus payment was first introduced.

Did you claim her as a dependent? If so, she's ineligible for any money.

Well, I'm super frustrated right now. No stimulus payment and since they got the tracking site up today I tried that - it said they cannot determine if I am eligible? I make well under the 75k limit and cannot be claimed as a dependent by anyone. They gave me no options of what to do next. Anyone in the same boat or know what to do here??

Yes, my DS-23 is. My nephew-24 is as well.

Wait until tomorrow? The site is being overloaded and can't handle the traffic right now. Not everyone is getting their money today!

Could be it but you'd think it would just not come up with a result in that case. Also, this site was supposed to let you track your payment. So the fact that everyone isn't getting theirs today is kind of the point of having this tracker available, right? Mine specifically said that based on the little information I input on the first page (SSN, address, date of birth) that they cannot determine my eligibility. I checked a couple more times in case it was just the site having issues and got the same answer each time. Then it locked me out and said to check back in 24 hours. Sigh.

Mine is working full time. Not a student. Was part time student in 2018 but not since then. And lives on his own, not on our taxes. Same with my nephew and he got same message.

I'm 41 and have worked full time and lived on my own for many years now. I have no idea what the issue is with mine but I'm worried that I'm going to get screwed over here somehow.

From what I read the tracking tool will start 4/17.
