I registerd a few years ago, have only done a few posts so hopefully I will fit right in. Never posted a trip report on here before let alone a pre-trip report but I'm super excited. First, we are doing a first ever Christmas time trip and second (this is the important one) my DIL just found out she's having a girl so she will be 6 months old by then. I get to start buying Tinkerbell/princess stuff and not so many swords and wooden guns.
Here's our introductions:
Me-52 mom to 4 older kids and grandma to 1-1/2. State worker that needs a vacation now. Went to DL for the first time at 14 and then pretty much every year with my kids at 20 until they left high school. Went to WDW for 10 nights in 2000.
DD1-33 manager-hasn't been back to DL since she was 14 (silly girl opted to go camping with her best friend's family) She will be surprised at the changes. We are excited to take her on the new rides.
DS1-32 6th grade teacher and father to my grandson. He's gone every year since birth. Took his wife to WDW for their honeymoon.
DD2-26 works for the state and has gone to DL since birth and the trip in 2000 to WDW Loves Pirates and has her apartment decorated in it. (think it's really johnny Depp that she loves)
DS2-just graduated high school, pizza worker (fits him perfectly as it's his favorite food) and going to college. DL since birth (actually he had colic and had to be driven around the freeways in LA because the hotel manager called due to the noise
Member of the 2000 trip to WDW
DIL-RN, married to DS1 mother to my grandson and soon to be granddaughter.
2 years ago when we all went to DL, she said that DG had seen it so now they wouldn't have to go back for another 10 years. Silly girl.........she's been back three times since. I think she didn't know our family too well yet.
DGS-almost 5 and been to DL about 4 times. Loves all rides except now has a fear of the "monster' on the Matterhorn. He loves pirates because his favorite auntie loves pirates.
DGD-due in early June!!!
We are looking forward to our first ever holiday trip. We would normally go in September after school started (yes, I was one that took kids out of school but XH worked for Coca Cola so vacationing in the summer was out of the question plus, sometimes his employer gave us the hotel room at the DLH) or after my divorce, we began going in July around my birthday.
We aren't the Disney hotel type, we are the type, cheaper the better as long as it's clean and close. We aren't really sit down restraunt group but counter service, snacks, get up and go people.
We are going December 8 and staying 4 nights at the Anaheim Plaza ($109 for the 4 queen). We normally stay at the BWPPI so this will be a little longer walk. We are in Northern CA so it's about a 7 hour drive. It hasn't been decided who is riding where but I know my car is leaving around 6am that day. My son and DIL will have to wait until he gets out of school at 2:30pm.
I've been looking at the food picture threads, especially the snacks and that's what I'm saving for. Heck, I can get hamburgers anywhere so I'm checking out those good snacks! Reading these Boards are great as I never knew I could refill my coffee at that store at the end of Main St.
one other surprise that I'm hoping will continue........The reason for the holiday trip was a gift. A few years ago when things were rough, I started going to the casino a lot. It became my obsession, could forget what was going on for a few hours etc. I quit doing things with friends that I normally would do and went to the casino alone. I didn't spend money I didn't have but didn't save any either. I took it upon myself a few weeks ago to go to Gamblers Annonymous and what I thought I hid from my kids, they knew. They are very happy i decided to go. This trip is my gift to myself and kids for their understanding and compassion.
You all are great with wonderful tips and lots of things I've never known even though I've been to DL all these years. I'd love to add to this thread when more plans are figured out.
Off to a meeting.
