It's not a cruel joke. I didn't see it either. Then I clicked on the quote button to quote the OP then I clicked the back button on my browser and I saw the pic.

it's because the OP used a direct link to the image which is on a pbase server farm. these servers are designed to take the load off of a single server through the virtual url. the individual server can die but images will still be served. because of the way the server farm works, you often will not be able to link an image directly off the individual server.

when linking an image on pbase, the best way is to add '.jpg' to the end of the individual image url.

in this case the individual image page of fireworks on biermugg's pbase site is http://www.pbase.com/image/75338305

if we add .jpg to the end of the url, we get the correct url:
http://www.pbase.com/image/75338305.jpg

edit: bah pbase is acting funny about it possibly because the image is linked above.

here is an example of one which is the best way to embed the image and avoid red x's
