First Pirate Night on the Wonder!

Yes, they have Pirate Night. It is exactly like the show we had on the Magic. I asked Capt. John about the fireworks, and he said they get the equipment for the Wonder in February.

It takes place on Nassau night. As a result, it changes dining rotations. Your first two nights are in the same place. For example, our rotation is PPTA.

Thank You for clarifying that!
I am sure that exactly how it was gonna fit into rotation was on people's minds... but that makes sense!

What's a pirates favorite letter?

Then, after dinner there is a huge pirate themed deck party with the CM's dressed as wenches and pirates and they do a "show" on stage with Captain Hook and a Jack Sparrow type character swings down from the smoke stack...of course pirate Mickey saves the day!!!
How does this work for timing with regard to the shows? Is it after the late dinner seating?

New Rotation? Aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!! Just when I thought I had it all figured out! I wonder why they did that? Now my rotation request is wrong and of course DCL doesn't know what in the heck I'm talking about. You want to be in the know? Just ask a DIS'er!

So do other cruisers bring pirate gear?? Does this go on during the regular shows? I guess we would miss it if we were in Palos, huh?

It doesn't start until 10 p.m. at night. That's what other cruisers have said, and I called DCL at the beginning of the week, and that's what they told me! :)

The pirate theme menu is at both early and late dining times but the "show/deck party" does not start until at least 10:00 pm so most everyone is done with dinner by then.

The pirate night has nothing to do with nor does it interfere at all with the theatre shows.

I'll try to answer some of the questions:

Pirate Night is not just the "Pirate Show," but a themed night. First, there are pictures with Pirate Mickey and Pirate Minnie in the Atrium. Capt. Hook, Peter Pan, Wendy and others are available for photos and work the crowd. We bought fake tattoos at the Pirate Museum in Nassau. Capt. John liked them so much he wants to sell them on board! Most people just dressed in normal clothes. Everyone gets special pirate bandanas at dinner. (The bandanas are red and black if you want to coordinate). The dinner has it's own Pirate menu that you keep as a souvenir. The Pirate show starts at 9:45 officially, but not a lot happens other than dancing (like at sail away party) until 10 pm. Servers work hard to get everyone out on time to see the show. It goes late, but the main part of the show goes until about 10:45 pm.

These are the new dining rotations: PPTA, TTAP, AAPT.

Hope it helps. You're going to have an "excellent" time! pirate:

Darn, no fireworks! We just love Disney's fireworks! My kids will be thrilled with the Pirate Night - they like that odd sense of humor fun! Only a couple of more days to go until we are off in the Wonder. Will let you all know how it goes!

Do you think they will add the fireworks by our May 15th cruise? pirate:

This sounds like so much fun. I can't wait till April!!! Having never cruised before, what do you think it'll be like to go to the same restaurant two nights in a row? I'm already planning on a Palo brunch, but didn't want to do a dinner and leave the kids.

suzannef - The Wonder will have fireworks starting sometime in February.

As far as 2 nights in the same restaurant, it wasn't bad. Maybe that's because we had Pirate Night in Parrot Cay which seemed appropriate. You would still have gone to one restaurant twice, now it's just back to back.

We were on the Wonder when "Pirate Night" made it's debu (Jan 13 sailing). It was a lot of fun and the servers were as excited as the guest about the new theme.

We are on the first sailing of the Wonder in February....aaahhh...we can only dream there will be fireworks! :guilty: :guilty:

Just got home from the 1/16 Wonder, second Pirate Themed Night cruise of the Wonder. As reported already, no fireworks yet, wait till February. We found the new rotations awkward--we were TTAP, so with the second night being pirate night, we were in Triton's and that didn't seem Pirate-y to us. And by process of elimination, that made the first night on the ship the "dressy" night in Triton's, which was for us, on early seating was 40 minutes after our last bag was delivered to the stateroom.

We weren't thrilled with the pirate menu, in all honesty, and decided that evening which night to go to Palo's on the Magic in April--Pirate night--because we won't feel like we are missing anything, menu-wise. The grilles shrimp dish has three split, grilled shrimp, it is a pasta dish primarily, and thr overcooked shrimp were tough to get out of the shell--shame, really, I had so many excellent shrimp on the cruise, but these were the worst.

Missed much of the other "themed" activities, but for the music and dancing on deck that i did hear, much of the music was the same playlist I recall from the Tropicali night deckparty two years ago (Ricky Martin is pirate music? Somewhere there is a politically incorrect joke or three loitering...). Now the good news--Scoops was open late, which it usually is not on the Wonder, but there we were, skipping the long dessert line for just walk up and get a yummy cup of soft serve ice cream at 10 or 10:30.

Maybe I just miss tropicali night--anything that serves as an excuse for steel drums and calypso music and loud shirts is my idea of a vacation, and so I wasn't thrilled about the change, to give my bias. But add the fireworks, as they will soon, and that is a definite plus.

I'd like some opinions about costumes...

My DD LOVES Peter Pan!!! Do you guys think Tinkerbell would be appropriate/fun for the Pirate night? I figure if Peter, Wendy and Hook are milling about they would need Tink, right? I still have her costume from Halloween. That being said, our block party theme this last summer was POC and there are some older girls on the street who had costumes that I might be able to borrow. Which do you think we should dress her in?

If I put in a request, can I possibly say PPTA? I would like to end the cruise with something fun, like Animators Palette. Does it go like that or is it in a certain order?

Like Budwmn, our rotation on the 1/16 Wonder was PPTA, so that would definitely be an option for you.

The hard part about the new rotation for me is that it makes it harder to pick which night to do Palo. Before, if you didn't want to miss one of the restaurants, you would go either the first or last night. This throws it off a bit. We ended up going to Palo on night 3, so we missed Triton's. Good thing we did that - we had very rough seas during dinner (second seating) on the first and last night. We didn't even make it to the entree on day 1, and had to leave before dessert on the last night. Would have hated to be in Palo and have to leave...

The kids loved the pirate: theme, and the older one (7) enjoyed the deck party afterwards. The younger (4) held his ears the whole time - it was too loud for him.

Thanks ljm, very helpful. It really sounds fun!

We just returned from the Jan 23 Wonder. We had the TTAP rotation which I had said was the one I did not want. It was not too bad though for us! We are not real dressy people so the first night at the fanciest restaurant was laid back! My kids absolutley loved Pirate NIght - both in the restaurant and on deck!
