We just got back from the first pin trading night. We went to the Syracuse DS. There was only one other trader while we were there. But, my kids were real excited to trade. All in all we had a great time. And, Kathy, our favorite CM, was the pin trader expert!

All the pins on the lanyard to start were 100 years pins. There was no #1 on either lanyard. I did get a sleeping beauty castle! I'm sure the pins will be different by next week.

How did everyone else do?

I just went to watch but it was only me and another person. I really expected more people and to my surprise I got the walt and mickey pin. I already had one, but I couldn't pass it up. I placed it on the trade board (in case anyone is interested). I was hoping to trade with other people (not just the CM's) but no one showed in the time I was there. The CM's at my store are awesome so I had fun talking to them instead. I hope more people show up next week.

Keep smiling :)
Melissa

Same here. I was the only pin trader in the store. I waited 30 minutes and when no one else showed up, I went home.

We went to two Disney Stores in Central NJ. DH and I were the only traders in the stores. We got Figero and Dopey in one store, and Walt #1 and Sleeping Beauty's Castle in the other.

I went to one store, arriving at 6:30, hoping the die hard who shows up at 6:30 Saturday morning would be there. ;) Nope. Just me. I chatted with the CM's and showed them my traders and left at 7:15.
Then I went to the other TDS, nearest me. They said one other person had been there and gone. But their lanyard was still only Dream pins.
I asked the CM if he had the SW DVD gift pin. He did--on the other lanyard. I traded an AK pin for that pin. :)
I enjoyed talking with the CM's. The two CM's from tonight are both collectors. The CM at the second store bought his Figaro from last Saturday from a TDS in Las Vegas.
I felt pretty good. I gave them at least one different pin for variety, for one I didn't have.
The pins on all their lanyards are just a variety of Dream pins from all the weeks so far, even last Saturday. One had the Haunted House, SB Castle, Tigger, etc.
And I found out the first store did not get any of Darkwing Duck of this coming Saturday's pins.
The second store CM's didn't know what they had. They seemed to know at least one pin was short shipped.
Better get my in-laws on TDS stand-by notice.

We didn't bother to go to the Disney Store tonight to check on pin trading. Most of the management team at this particular store could care less about pins plus we all decided we were too tired. Maybe next time ...

I went at 8:20 after I got out of work. They said a few other traders were there but htey did not hang around long. Traded for a pin just to trade. See what happens next week.

DOM! The second store CM asked me if I had the Pinpics pin! He remarked how nice it is and what a good job someone had done designing it!

Went to our local store about 6:30 pm....thinking wow with all the folks that line up early sat am there would be alot there.....SURPRISE>......only one that showed up was ME!!!!!! they had two lanyards .....both with about the same pins on them ..but I was in trade withdrawal so traded pins with each. thinking someone might just need one of the pins....and then it also gave them a variety on their lanyards.... I picked up 14 Mickey and Donald, 9 Mickey and Minnie, 11 Belle, 10 Snow white, 13 Winnie the poosh and friends, 23 absent minded professor, 24 grumpy. So if anyone needs one of those let me know.....hope more show up next week.

Well I was running a bit late out of work so I did not get there until 7:15. There were actually 5 or 6 traders there...maybe a few more.

They had actually traded through the lanyard and it was "old" by the time I got there LOL.... :)

There were only the 100 years pins on there...well I take that back, someone put on a WDW Country Bear jamoboree and there was the train from Dumbo-Gallery set. I put on a park pin just to give him some variety. Since I was running late I did not have too many lanyard traders with me. But next week I think I will trade for all the pins on the lanyard to give some variety.

I made some trades with some of the people there. Lots of new traders and some that have been trading for a while. I made a few people happy with what I traded them...and that is what really matters. Introduced a few more to this site, Dizpins and Pinpics.

We shall see what next week brings, maybe hit 2 stores next week.

OHHH and I got some Dopey's if anyone needs one.

Debbie
35 Days 13 hours 10 minutes 33 seconds till WDW!!!

well out here in Idaho there were 4 families trading. They made us take numbers as if we cared. I personally waited until later to trade to see what ended up on the lanyard. Since there were only about 8 people trading we got to some additional trades off the lanyards and a nice variety of rack pins ended up there. DD ended up with an atlantis fish and a dca surfer mickey but she traded about 6 times to get there. Lots of kids trading. But several of the adults had brought there pin bags so I got to look at lots of pins but I also saw some serious trades going on including some epcot event pins. ONe of the guys even had some prototype pins but those didn't get traded. I traded for a dca triton whale pin because I couldn't pass up a chance to trade. We were there about an hour and had lots of fun.

That was very nice of you to say so, Melissa! I will tell the store manager, Denise and Linda, my wife, that you said so. I'm afraid the turnout at our store was pitiful, but I did trade with a new person that I had not met before. You need to hang around a little longer and try to catch some more traders. There was only Linda with one lanyard trading in our store, and she mostly has Disney Store pins still on the lanyard. There will be a different CM next week and they will have a #1 pin on the lanyard again.
Most guests seemed confused about what was going on, and did not seem to be prepared to trade. Maybe it will improve as the weeks go by.

I was over at "My" Disney Store in Braintree Ma I was there a little after 7 and didn't see any one took alook at what the CM had on her lanyard nothing that I needed from 100 yrs series. I was there til about 7:25 and left as there was no one trading at all!

Hope they do alot of advertising on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LuvtoRoam, I still have a few PinPics pins if he is interested Send him my way. I'll even sign it. :D

Joy, If you are trading the KT Whale pin I have ben casually working on that series. Let me know.

I was at the mall last night and haven't been in a Disney Store for two weeks. Didn't know pin trading was starting last night. Well I went in to see what pins were left and while looking the CM asked, "do you trade pins?" I answered yes and they ran backstage to put on their lanyard. I bought three pins and admired their lanyard. There was a Walt and Mickey pin on the lanyard. Fortunately the car is still half unpacked from our excursion to WDW and my lanyard, but not my pin bag was in the car. I traded a new Festival of the Lion King for TDS Tigger slider and they a gallery store Owl for the Walt and Mickey. There were no other traders so I left.

I only had a total of 4 people show up to trade. I was really disappointed in the turnout, but I hope there will be more next Tuesday as the word gets out. It was fun for me to be able to talk to people about pins while working my shift. I hope that the participation increases and that we continue doing this for a while.

If you are in the Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina area, please come trade with me next Tuesday. We would love to see you in the store.

We were at our store in Taunton, Massachusetts, last evening. There were two other traders who arrived early (around 6:00 PM). Our manager agreed to trade in accordance to how we arrived so they were first and second and my husband and I came next. No other traders showed, although it was discussed quite a bit in line on the previous Saturday morning. There were lots of shoppers and we got some attention but no questions. There were no pins available for purchase so if they were interested there was no way for them to begin. We had only one CM wearing a lanyard and only 100 year pins on it. No #1 pins either. My husband and I traded a total of six pins between us, all either park pins or millenium pins, to give the lanyard a boost. The other two traders traded 100 years for 100 years, mostly the pins that were said to be "hot". All in all I was disappointed but have confidence that it'll pick up. Maybe if Disney sent some park or Millenium pins to the stores for purchase it would encourage others to begin.

We had a total of about 8 traders. The lanyards were limited to 100 year pins. (I think most of our traders were DS-bound.) When I traded a Disneyland teacup pin to create some variety on the CM's lanyard, I noticed that someone who traded after me was particularly interested in it. The CM said "Oh, that's just a park pin. It's not a '100 Years' pin -- the rules said people could trade any pin, so..."

HUH?

"Just a park pin?"

Just a park pin????

I agree that that CM has no idea of what she's doing. If all they ever have are DS 100 Year pins this experiment will be dead in a month!

To borrow a line from Nat, I had to work last night, so I didn't make it to any of the Disney Stores. James, I thought about stopping by Coliseum Mall on my way from Chesapeake(passed it around 8:30) but had another 90 minutes to drive and wanted to go home. Besides, I didn't have any traders with me.

Lauri went to our local store, though. She said there were a few people there, but the CMS didn't know that much about the different pins so she ended up giving a pin seminar! :)
