First month for Aulani point release?

Something just occurred to me... will we receive our points allocation for Aulani in time to use two years of points (2011 and borrowing from 2012) during our first visit in December 2011???

We purchased our Aulani points keeping the same UY as our BLT points (June). Since Aulani is opening during 2011, I just assumed that we would receive 2011 points. Then I read where one incenive was MF's for 2012 being paid. I can't reach our guide to get clarification... and honestly I should have asked about this BEFORE we signed on the dotted line! Did anyone get specifics from their guide about when the first allocation of points would come? And, if not, can you tell me how it worked when BLT was preparing to open? If your UY was before the opening month, did you receive your points for that year or not?

One of the negatives about Disney marketing is that the deals change like the wind and they are different depending where and from who you buy from.

We will often hold our unsigned contracts and wait to see if the next deal is better. We have also canceled and re-purchased to get a better deal. Disney knows that prospective buyers will do this so they will sometimes delay the next deal for sixty days or so to cause buyers to buy now out of fear of the next deal being worse.

we have an August use year, which is the month of opening. I confirmed that our first point allotment will be for our August 2011 use year. We will pay MF for Aug-Dec 2011, then get 2012 MFs free because we bought at the event. Not sure how it would work for a June use year. I would think you'd get 2011 points since the opening falls within that use year. But not sure. I think you need to check with your guide.

The paperwork was supposed to be overnighted on Friday morning. I was surprised when it didn't arrive today... and I know FedEx was delivering because a Home Delivery package arrived. =(

Our guide did call back tonight. They've been swamped over there with calls. She confirmed that we do indeed get the 2011 points and that our MF's will be prorated just like any new purchase.

Well, if I had been being logical instead of in panic mode earlier, I would have just looked at our account on DVCmember.com. There the points are, plain as day, listed in our 2011 summary. Uh, duh on me!!!

You should get your points effective the first day of the UY OR when the unit you are buying into comes online, whichever is later. You will pay dues from that point forward as well for those buying before it opens. Thus getting the rest of 2011 dues free AND 2012 would not be an unreasonable promotion. Given the makeup of the resort, it's likely that anyone who buys will get points for the 2011 UY for those with August or later and possible to get points for 2011 back maybe to June, 2011. Those with earlier UY will likely not get points until 2012.

Yes, we receive 2011 points. I posted that we receive the 2012 MFs paid as an incentive at the Disneyland Hotel promotional event. In the same post I think I mentioned that the 2011 MFs are paid prorata based on your use year. You are all good!

I may be wrong, but I don't think that you can borrow those points into the 2010 UY for another DVC stay. I thought when we bought BLT we couldn't use our points until BLT actually opened (or the date at which it did).

That would make sense because the total points available for DVC stays (where actual bookings could be made) would not be increased until the resort opens. It would be unfair to owners at other resorts to take up their lodging possibilities with Aulani points if they had no other options regarding where to book for a current stay.

But, since we are already trying to beg and plead for enough Aulani points for our anniversary trip, we certainly would never use those points before Aulani opens anyway!!!

This is c/w what happened with AKV and BLT but there was a cutoff a few months before. I don't believe those with MUCH earlier UY got the points for that year but I could be mistaken. I'm sure someone directly affected will be able to help.

All the UY's at BLT received 2009 points even though it was originally scheduled to open in Sept.

At AKV I purchased Kidani points which could not be used until the resort itself opened. I did received 2008 points in my Oct UY and Kidani opened in May of 2009. I also was able to use those Kidani points to book at Jambo prior to them starting to take reservations at Kidani. The reservation was for a stay that was scheduled after the opening of Kidani.
