December 25 - Merry Christmas!
We were up at 5:30am! Santa came and Nicolas had a ball playing with his treasures while mom and dad got ready. Mickey left us a white sack on the door filled with goodies and a Christmas Card. We thought that was very thoughtful of him. (another reason we love DISNEY!)
We planned to be at the Magic Kingdom again today just so we could call all our friends and family back home and make them green with envy. hee hee We knew from reading here and in other places that the park was going to be very crowded, so we actually planned to do nothing today except take it slow and just do what we could. We got up early and hit the park at 8am again. But this time, we went straight to Fantasy Land and there was no riding Dumbo first, there was already a huge line. That's ok. We did do Philharmagic again and a few other rides as well as the Haunted Mansion.
At 10am, we headed to the barber shop to get Nicolas a trim. I knew they sprinkled Pixie Dust in your hair and we figured this would be a great thing to do on Christmas day. Well, there was even a long line here! Michel cut Nicolas' hair. I found out later that he has been working there for a very long time. He did a good job and painted Nicolas hair Buzz Lightyear green! Nicolas' favorite color is green and he thought that was fantastic. But after getting sprinkled with Pixie Dust. . .well. . . he sort of looked like a Christmas tree. . . And let me tell you EVERY where we went, people would comment on it - "Look at that little boy . . . dressed like a Christmas Tree!" After about the 10th time, Nicolas was sick of it. He just thought everyone should be saying, "look at the Buzz Lightyear boy! NOT Look at the Christmas Tree Head Kid! I tried to talk him into keeping it in for a couple of days, but he wanted it washed out that night. (In case you're curious - it comes out easily and makes your bath water a lovely shade of green!)
Later we saw a cute little show called Celebrate the Season and we saw the afternoon parade. We stood next to this couple from India and they were so fun to sit with.
We just love meeting nice people to pass the hour and a half by. Nicolas still had his $2 astronaut set in his fanny pack and passed the time by playing with them. Finally, the parade began at 2pm and it truly was magical to see the Christmas Parade on Christmas.
I just love the toy soldiers. And did you know that the green army men and the toy soldiers both actually PLAY their instruments?? I'm a music teacher and stuff like that impresses me.
We had a PS at Tony's for 5pm. After a little shoping on Main Street (got myself a new Mickey watch for Christmas and got Roy a Mickey Pocket Watch for Christmas) we went to eat. Now my DU representative told me that all restaurants would be having a traditional holiday meal offered for Christmas. I picture that as turkey or ham, dressing, you know. Well, they did have a holiday menu, but there was all kinds of Italian food that I couldn't pronounce. Nicolas had a cheese pizza and Roy and I had spaghetti and meatballs. It was good, but boy I was looking forward to that turkey and dressing. Oh well, hey I was at the famous Lady and the Tramp restaurant! Did you know Lady and Tramp's paw prints are right outside the restaurant in the concrete? I never knew that.
We were going to stay for Wishes and Spectro, but we were really beat from getting up so early, so we decided to come back tomorrow night. We were back at the hotel by 7pm and asleep by 8.
