I told DH that the cooler would be good for beer, and he said he didn't want beer on the cruise. WHAT???? I then mentioned a bottle of bacardi, and he was a little more excited. I'm thinking of maybe having one of the girls carry the cooler as a carry-on on the plane, minus the alcohol. I think I'm going to see if I have any good friends that are driving and stopping for alcohol pick us up some beverages before the cruise.

Hi Nicole!
Just give me a list of what you want and either I can get it for you.
Or your DH or you can go with my DH for a alcohol run on Saturday.
We are arriving in WDW on the 6th so will have plenty of time to take care of my needs for this trip.

Dr. Ruth was just on the Today Show. She was telling some of her Top 10 Secrets. She says we should buy ice-cream cones and practice. There is just something wrong with getting advice from someone who's got to be pushing 90.

I don't want to know.....I don't want to know.....I don't want to know

Thanks everyone for offering to help us out with booze. :)

Good thought...

:wave2: morning everyone!

I'm doing my mani/pedi before I leave Indiana. Must have the little fingers and toes looking BEE-YOU-TEE-FULL upon arrival! :cutie:

I am also going to have mine done before we leave for our trip.
I have had the same lady doing mine for 14 years.
She's really good, and my mani's usually last a week before they show any wear. Pedi's about a month.
Occasionally I have gone to someone else and find they just don't last.

Just stopping in to say hi!

Am finally feeling ok -- I think I've been sick with every virus going for about 2 months now. Was sick for Toy Story Mania (had no voice with that cold) and have had various other things since. Am now finally feeling ok and hopefully it will last.

Have tried to keep up a bit with what's been going on though. We haven't finalized our plans for after the cruise. We are waiting to see if AP rates come out and then decide what we are doing. Is anyone else waiting for AP rates?

Will try to keep up now.

Can't wait to cruise.

Fiona

Hey sorry to hear you have not been feeling well.
Glad your feeling better though.
Can't wait to meet up again.

NO NO NO!!! This is just wrong!

Nicole,
Don't worry! I was extremely nervous about our first cruise. DH had been on several, but it was my first. We were very lucky and had smooth sailing the whole way. The only thing I felt was the first evening, but they said that it was because the ship was moving so fast to get to the Bahamas by morning. The rest of the trip never even felt like we were on water!
Just keep saying...we'll have a smooth ride, we'll have a smooth ride...(and maybe click your heels a couple of times, too).

BTW, we are up around 70 right now. It's nice, but eery. I think we are supposed to have some heavy rain and storms tonight. DD is extremely afraid of storms...I thought we wouldn't have to start worrying about this until March or April.:confused3

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

This is one of my biggest fears as a first time cruiser. I have HORRIBLE motion sickness (as does my 2 year old daughter). I have been psyching myself up already... "this is going to be a great cruise"... "this is going to be a smooth cruise"... "this is going to be a great, smooth cruise"...

It's warm in the Chicago burbs today. 60+ degrees.... with a warm breeze. Well, it's more than a breeze... it's really windy... but it is still warm enough for flip flops! :thumbsup2

I'm prone to motion sickness as well. But my trick is that I purchase the less-drowsy formula of Dramamine (or the generic version..either seems to work for me) and I start taking them about 2 days before I depart on my trip. I take them at bedtime so that I sleep off the sleepy stuff in the medicine...and I keep taking them, even if I don't think that I need them. The last cruise that we did was in 2007 and it was pretty smooth sailing the entire cruise up until the last full day. We were being chased the whole way home by Hurricane Dean and the waters started getting choppy. The captain was high-tailing it home before we got hit by any storms!

The only time that I tend to feel the motion is at night (usually goes faster at night) and oddly enough, when i'm in a bathroom. I have no idea why...that was the only time I noticed the motion on my last cruise until that last day. It was weird. My mom's said the same thing...she only notices when she's in the bathroom too..weird...lol

On our last cruise, DH even made a comment that he couldn't believe that I didn't feel a few of the big swells the ship went through when we were in the theater one night! I noticed nothing! :)

For all of the potentially queasy cruisers - I have one word for you: BONINE!

It's an over the counter, chewable, daily, non-drowsy, motion sickness preventative.

Both DH and I are prone to motion sickness. We start taking this little miracle pill every morning about 5 days prior to the cruise. Keep taking it every morning on the cruise and take it for a few days afterward (until you get your sea legs back - you can actually be a little wobbly after you get off the ship - DH gets this more than I do).

It really, really helps. The best solution to sea sickness is to never get sick in the first place. If you allow yourself to get sick, then you're fighting an uphill battle.

The first night out, as the ship cruises away from Florida, it is usually a little bumpy. Something about the currents that run parallel to the coast and the fact that the ship is traveling pretty quickly. If you're susceptible, you may also notice that you may feel the ship's motion in certain areas of the ship more than others. I find that I am more aware of that motion in the theater where the shows are and in Parrot Cay.

You'll be fine. If you feel yourself beginning to feel sick, make sure you get out on deck and get some fresh air. The wind on your face. It helps me to be able to see the horizon too - but that may not be the same for everyone.

Edited to add: I was posting at the same time as Brandie! Similar guidance from us both!

Our very first trip was in September, and it was soooo humid. We were also there for Floyd (I think that was the hurricane). We've not been back in October. DH LOVES December. He didn't enjoy October, because October is a pretty nice month to be in Iowa. I'm hoping he'll enjoy May. It will be like a first taste of summer.

Aw yes hurricane Floyd I do believe that was just after 9/11/99
I remember it well we were on our Honeymoon is Bear Run, PA.
Visiting Fallingwaters.
We were getting the tropical storm from Floyd.
I was not happy hate the rain.
The guide said some people wait 30 years to see Fallingwater in the rain, I said " I can leave it".
I don't think she was impressed with me. :rotfl2:
DH and I are both fans of Frank Lloyd Wright. :worship:
