So what is the deal with cell phones on the ship again? We have iPhones with AT&T. How much will it cost me to make a call home?

I would call AT&T. They told me on the ship it would be $2.35 a minute. If in the Bahamas you could get the international plan then it would be $0.99 a minute. This was back in December.

Be sure to ask about data roaming too. I've heard horror stories about folks that didn't realize their iPhone was checking for new emails, etc and wound up with a huge bill for data.

My iPhone's going to go into "airplane mode" when the ship pulls out of Port Canaveral and won't go back into phone mode until we return.

They told me to turn off my email. I never used my cell on that cruise though. I took the battery out of my cell. I have a blackberry so I can take the battery out.

On one of my packing lists it says "address labels for disembarkation"
What are they for? Are they labels I should address to myself???

I bring them so I don't have to write my name on the luggage tags when we get off the ship. All the bags that you put out on Wednesday night will have to have Disney tags for sorting in the terminal. I use labels so I don't have to write them.

Katherine, I just changed to 9 am too. So we can do it together. That way I won't have to run to change for Palo.

Magnet boy is busy at work these days, trying to make deadlines before we leave. It's been a week of 10 & 11pm nights before he is even getting home from work. He needs this vacation...

Geez, I am in a rambling mood today Anyway, I actually have a shipboard question. Is anyone bringing a little purse/murse with them for the day while we are onboard? I generally don't wear my glasses all the time but I want them with me and I NEED reading glasses so, I think I will need to have a small bag with me. Now I need to go through the purse stash to find a small crossbody bag.

Ritz Camera is going out of business, and they were selling little camera bags for $3. It makes a perfect little crossbody bag, and it fits the camera, the phone, the KTTW card, and anything else I want to have right with me.

I was looking around the boards, but I couldn't find this one out on my own: is there a phone number directly connected to our stateroom? My mom is flying down on Tuesday, and I want her to call me when she gets to the resort, just so I know she got in ok (I'll more than likely not be there, just want her to leave a voicemail).
Thanks for any help... and is there still time to pre-pay our tips?

Not directly. She would have to call the toll free number listed in your documents (I'll have to look it up again for you - it's 8xx-DCATSEA). She will have to have a credit card available to pay when she makes the call and will be charged around $7 per minute for the call. If you have an idea when she will arrive and have activated international calling on your cell phone, you would be better off having her call your cell phone as the charge will much less for this.

Tips can be prepaid up until Thursday.

Without looking all over, can someone please tell me the amount for gratuities? I called to pay that today and I never wrote it down assuming whichever agent I spoke with would know. I thought $48, but I couldn't remember for sure.

Anna is right, I would check with AT&T. The average cost from a cruise ship is $2.50 per minute, very expensive. And about $.50 per text message for both outgoing and incoming. Be careful, Iphones tend to automatically download text messages and email. You don't want to come home to a surprise phone bill. I am going to put my Iphone in airplane mode when I get on the ship so I can use the other functions.

Another idea is to get off in Nassau and buy a prepaid phone card. You could then call home with the card from a pay phone and know exactly how much you will be spending.

If you do decide you want to use your phone you will have to call AT&T and have them activate your phone's international calling capability.
