first ever complaint for Disney (disappointed guest)

In all honesty if you think the replies here are nasty, a public message board is not the place for you. You are going to be offended left and right. This board does have great moderators, and if anything gets out of hand or nasty, they will quickly jump in. Not agreeing with someone doesn't automatically make that poster nasty.

I also agree that if the band is going to upset the OP when they use it, the best thing is to return it. We have all purchased something that wasn't quite what we have expected. No shame in returning it.
I agree. That letter was hard to read. If you need to get a point across to a business, it should be written clearly. Many computers and tablets have spell check built in, or the OP could have asked someone to proofread it.

Regarding the complaint, I would just return it. I wouldn't pay $33 for a Magic Band but if the OP sees fit to spend his money on it, it's his right. He's not happy with the product so he should get a refund. I think they'll give him one, they are usually pretty good about that. Oops, just read his post about them not accepting the bands for refund. I wonder why?

I agree- if the bands have changed to only one sound upon entry that should be made VERY clear when they are purchased. Then we can decide if we still want them! ( I didn't know they couldn't be returned- thanks for the heads-up.) Another thing is since you are going to Disney soon, maybe talking to someone there directly in customer service wouldn't be a bad idea. I think it's easier to ignore a written letter than it is a person right there with a valid complaint. I'm not sure WHICH customer service place would be best- maybe someone could advise?
thats actually a good idea if i can find out where and can get my friend to spare some of our time id like to try that we are going to MK one day and then the second day explore our resort, and the downtown disney (still call it that) wonder if downtown disney will have an area so i don't have to cut into friends park time. idk i like it, like if it was my first one id be happy but since its my second and i paid more its still very nice and honestly the sound and light pattern is awesome in my opinion, just sad ill only see it once, sadder for the guests who buy it then never get to see it :/

i think once its purchased for the most part its hard for it to be resold they'd have to check everyone and make sure it hasn't been linked up to an account. i do know they take the standard ones back for a fact to be recycled into new ones

My son has the original Olaf band that was bought during FSF. It "sings" In Summer. It swirls different colors and that confuses current cm who weren't working back then.

He bought a Kylo Ren that doesn't do anything. He likes the look of the band but he wishes it did something every time he uses it.

That's a shame you can't return it.

I hope you have a great vacation when it's time.

I agree, the box they come in should specify any effects.

i love that olaf one! i don't get how they can sell the ones that dont do any effects the same price as the other limited edition bands they should be priced as the limited bands
but seriously a description could save someone a lot of heart ache

My DD has a MNSSHP band from 2014. The lights turn purple, green, and orange and Mickey says, "happy Halloween" at the entrance and FP+ locations. If we bought another band with special effects I would expect the same and would not be happy unless otherwise noted on the box!

Well... I'm not so sure about the old ones being made into new ones...
well I've read and been told by CM some resorts will take back bands and have them recycled but i or they could be misinformed

OMG thank you!! btw i loved that halloween band and was hoping id hear mickey with 2015 one but the howl was cool! but yes you'd think with the price increase it would at least stay about the same not get worse

ok so a small update on research that I've found that may be the logic
bands thats are park specific allow the effects at the fastpass points, however bands that are sold all over only seem to work at the gates of parks.

regardless disney should provide some type of description
Definitely should be by the display or on the box! Agreed!
glad you agree!

Disney is the happiest place on earth...but it's apparent this board isn't. I guess every where in life you will find the rude people. Looking for things to poke fun at. What do people call them? Internet trolls? He didn't ask if you liked his letter or his grammar. In the words of thumper. "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all."

They were offering a legitimate piece of advice, in hopes of helping his email be taken seriously.

I love Disney so much and magic bands but it's been bright to my attention that Disney has let its guests down I write my first complaint email I don't expect anything in return but now I am warning other guests of what I think is wrong that Disney chose to do.
"let me start off saying i am a huge disney fan i try to go home about 2-3 times a year, and I've never been let down before, always top notch service. which is why I'm heart sick having to write this email, Halloween 2015 i attended the Mickeys halloween party and had the limited magic band that light the fast pass and entrance scanners and gave a howl! it was so much fun. however getting ready for my upcoming trip as you can see by the reservation, and i went ahead an ordered the limited easter band i was so excited about it and then today (still waiting for mine to arrive) i saw it used in the park tweeting snow whites blue bird a very festive sound, however I've been informed it only works at the entrance scanner not the fast pass, and its been going around the valentines day was the same, i paid More for the easter band as i did my halloween band but i get less! I'm very saddened that disney would do this and honestly this has made me regret even getting the band at all i was looking forward to the random of it activating when using fast pass, ill be honest knowing thaw this is at least the second limited band to have this setting is just cruel if its not gonna work everywhere lower the price to the ones that do! i honestly just feel cheated and I'm praying this doesn't affect my upcoming vacation experience but i wanted to reach out and let you know whats going on is wrong! i may be wrong in my info but every source I've found says that both the Santa, valentines and the easter (which easter i bought) only work at the entrance if its true after years of limited bands working everywhere someone needs to stand up and just say this is WRONG please don't think of me as what cast members call "treasured guest" I'm just honestly an upset guest the first time disney has let me down. -With all due respect Cameron Watkins"

So that us the letter I wrote I seriously think it is very unfair that they raided the price of theses limited bands but instead of adding effects they took them away. Know that it has been confirmed all magicbands have been raised in price not only the limited edition but all band prices by 12%
I'll say it again charging more but giving back less is not the Disney I know
I'm tempted to give a call in person but I hate confrontation and it's my first actual complaint but I feel strongly that p inside Disney need to know this isn't right

Well, I'm sorry that you were disappointed with your band. I think it would be good to perhaps return it and get your money back? But thank you for sharing, because you taught me something - I didn't know those sort of bands existed! So I learned something new.

I had no clue that the special magic bands did such cool stuff. It's not an expense I would do but hey more power to you if it's something you like. I think it's good that you wrote your letter. If something upsets you addressing the issue with the company is a good way to go. Enjoy your upcoming trip.
