I have my very first DVC stay on June 26 and I'm staying at the Villas at The Wilderness Lodge June 26-July 1.

I've stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Boardwalk and Old Key West before but never VWL. I'm thinking about trying to switch my stay to Boardwalk/Beach Club or Saratoga Springs...any suggestions?

The Boardwalk area is easily my favorite place at Disney World...but I'd love feedback about this.

You may be able to get a room at SSR at this late date, but it's highly unlikely you'll be able to get BCV or BWV.

I'd give VWL a try. I have stayed there twice, and it's just so peaceful and beautiful there. On the hot days of summer at WDW, VWL and WL are both so cool and inviting with the low lighting and comfy chairs to relax in.

BTW - welcome home!

as someone who is down here now, with my first DVC use...staying at BLT and one night at SSR! Stay at WLV!!! I was at SSR one night and could not stand it!! There was nothing around me at all!! I am looking forward to staying at WLVM in Oct!! easy access to MK!! so much easier than SSR! no really!!

i'd agree with the PP.

this would have been a good idea at the 7 month window, but not likely at this point. feel free to call MS to see what is available, though. you never know.

if you have little ones, i'd definitely vote for VWL over SSR due to the boat to the MK. if it's adults only, SSR might be fine...depends on what you prefer... the boardwalk is also a very fun area...

but you can always try something else next time... no rush... :)

What is giving you misgivings over booking VWL? I'll admit it's our favorite WDW resort although we pretty much like them all. :thumbsup2

And I agree that the likelyhood of switching especially to BWV or BCV is small but you never know until you call. That may make the decision an easy one.

At this late date your best to stay with VWL. You will not be disappointed. Saratoga Springs is a very nice resort, depending upon what you want to do and the make up of your party. For us it is a nice resort when it just my DW and me.

Definitely stay with VWL. It is a beautiful resort. I love SSR, but agree that VWL (including WL itself) is much more impressive. Transportation to MK is very easy with the boat.

We've happened to stay at WL more often than any other resport of the years - didn't always intend that, but never disappointed.

Another plus is it has two great restaurants.

If you haven't stayed there, I would try it. I've heard alot of very good things about it.

Like many said, stay with VWL is likely your best choice at this point. The chance of getting BCV or BWV this close to check-in is close to zero. Some people love SSR, but many more love VWL. Give yourself this chance to try VWL. May be you will become one of those who will return again and again.

Have a magical vacation!

I went to eat at Artist's Point last trip and think the resort had a lot to do with my buying DVC. Staying there in Jan for marathon. Absolutely looking forward to it. I plan to give them all a try. You can at least cross it off your list if you don't like it.

I'm curious NatashaDisneyCM. Your name seems to indicate you are or were a cast member, but you didn't realize where SSR was?:confused3

I'm pretty sure she means her room location, she was maybe "stuck" out in the boonies of SSR.

while i havent stayed at the villas at wl, we did stay at wl last year and it was stunning...pics do not do it justice!!!

this year we had to change our trip in feb at the last minute so i had to put points in holding and took a friend with the kids in may and stayed at ssr....of course that was all that was available 60 days out. i was prepared not to like it, esp since it was sooooo huge. well i was plesantly surprised....of course for me after enduring an er visit with dd for ear infections and the cms treating us so wonderfully ssr will always have a special place in my heart. we stayed in the crud, i cant remember, the first one the bus goes to for pick ups and drop offs. it was quiet and seculded and we had the quiet pool just steps away, never more than five ppl ther at any given time. i will most certainly stay there again....even if a 3 foot snake slithers by our path again! :scared1: lol

I'd keep your reservation for the Wilderness Lodge! We LOVE it there! I think if you try it you will love it. There are great dining options, boat transportation to MK, FW and CR. Just a beautiful, relaxing resort. Go and have a great time!

Thanks for all your responses! This was a big help!! I don't have any real misgivings about VWL, when I booked it six months ago I was excited, but I guess the main thing is I was thinking I'd want to be either on the boardwalk or an easy walk from DTD.

But, after hearing how much so many people like it, I'll give it a chance! That is unless I can get into the BW or BCV (which I realize is prob zero chance, but those are my favorite resorts so I'm going to try anyway..haha).

Thanks again for all the input and I'll be home in 12 days!
