Please help...we are going in December and are looking forward to the resorts being very festive. Where would you choose and why? I haven't been to either of the resorts...
We own at SS....but not sure about going there..
We have 3 little kids...6, 4, 3.
Oh, please give opinions as to why you like one better than the other....
I appreciate all responses..

I really like them both a lot and that is a tough decision.

I love the size of the OKW rooms and the elegant furnishings at SSR.

Since you are taking 3 children I'd go with OKW for the size factor.

OKW has larger units and requires fewer points. That makes the decision for me!

OKW is nice if you stay back on Turtle cove by the back pool. There's a play area that's pretty close. And I've hardly ever seen anybody there. The rooms are bigger too. Views are peaceful and quite(golf course). SSR has a toddler slide into the pool. The artist palette is fun for the kids to order their own kids meals. Each has their own perks. I've stayed at both and like both with my 2 yr old.

Without starting a heated debate both OKW and SSR are great for kids, SSR an easy walk to DTD where kids love LEGO LAND and the world of Disney zero entry pool a wonderfull rec room. And as the others have said OKW larger rooms and nice laid back feel, either way you cant go wrong with what ever you choose. :cool1:

I would think that you'd want to spend the holidays at "home" at SSR. It's a great resort. Why are you "not sure" about staying at your home resort?

I am undecided about the resorts because I have never seen OKW. I guess you can call it a newbie phobia! I purchased the DVC at SS because it was what was being sold...personally I love the boardwalk and would love to have purchased there...but without really knowing much about resales and this board I thought there wasn't a chance of getting in there. Oh well..things happen for a reason...and I am sure SS will be great! But I guess for this trip I am concerned about holiday theming....and what resort has shorter bus rides..etc..

I did go ahead and reserve the 2br at SS only because it was my home resort. I did put a waitlist on at Boardwalk but I probably have a better chance of winnng the lottery:) I really hope that once I stay at SS I will love it so much that I won't have the nervousness that I have now when we stay there again.

Thanks so much for responding!

IMO, both are fine. The resorts have many similarities and a few differences. As for one resort vs another, it mostly comes down to personal preferences. If you have a studio or 1 BR, OKW would be best overall. If you will not have a car, SSR would be preferable. As for decorations and the like, I'd think SSR might come out slightly ahead but neither will approach the other 3 on property decorations.

I like OKW because:
1.the living space is the largest of all the WDW resort
2.when driving home/back to resort the parking is so close to your doorsteps especially if you are staying on the first floor.
3. it has that "home" feeling to it.
4. it is a short boat ride to downtown disney.
5. balconies are larger
6. more value for the points used and less points too.

I don't know about how festive the resorts are in december.
I stayed too at the Saratoga Springs but unfortunately "my" experience was not the same as my stay at OKW. Yours may be different. Enjoy your trip!

I have not seen SSRs decorations so I can;t comment, but OKW is more "tropical festive" for the holidays, mostly lots of poinsettias in the landscaping, a Christmas tree in the lobby, garlands on the light poles and hanging garlands over the main walkway between check-in and Olivia's. Sort of "Florida does the Holidays."
