What are a few things you do to celebrate BACK TO SCHOOL with your kids?

This year, I'm trying to think of some new things.. small but thoughtful things from the heart..
Need to find Dyan for that survival kit!

I'd like to make a small survival kit/basket so the kids can have the items in it and than use the basket to store important items for the year...

We always have cinnamon rolls for breakfast

Of course the official back to school photo and getting on the bus.. This should be a treat with a high schooler and middle schooler... now my baby rides the bus by himself to elementary...

We do the typical picture on the first and last day of school. We take them out for ice cream at Friendly's after I pick them up.

That's about it. Pathetic, I know.

Hey sometimes that is all we can fit in the days as a mom.. we all know the :laundy: never ends.. which reminds me.. I still have basket to fold and a table FULL of clothes to get put away...

A girlfriend gave my boys a whole bunch of clothes from her son.. DH found that 90% of them still had the tags on them!!!! Must be nice to throw money away!!

Well with 3 boys in a row, we never have clothes with tags. LOL

Now, DD on the other hand, we have things she has grown out of before wearing. I'm storing things for my brother. Him and his GF we looking to adopt a 2 -4 yr old but now they are thinking a 1 yr old.

My bigger boys give their stuff that our families here buy them to the younger ones..but I guess I shouldn't complain because the boy that gave us the items is an only child... :)

No traditions here.
This year I'll be waking them up to drive them early. We will miss open house and won't know their teachers until that first day. I'm gonna try calling the school, but they are soo weird about that.

Oh we don't have tags either. If Eldest didn't cut them out, Little Bit needs them cut out. They don't like wrinkles in the socks while wearing shoes either. :confused3

Through 8th grade we did the picture thing...

Highschool, nothing except the bleeding of my wallet for books and supplies...

I was speaking of price tags.. new clothes.. never worn!

price tags AWM, price tags. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What the heck are we going to do with this blonde?:confused3 :lmao:

:confused3 Who lets their kid go to school wearing the price tags.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What? You don't do that.. I thought that was the "IN" thing along w/ the bunched shirts w/ the rubber band holding them tight... or better yet the 3 layers of shirts for one outfit, or even better yet... the matching flip flops to the shirt.. oh give me a break put on the flippin' outfit and go!

I cut the size tags out too. But I have to get better at remembering to write the size in the clothes with a marker. We give a lot of stuff to goodwill and I hate for them to not have sizes.

This thread is just cracking me up already. :lmao:

Beside me singing, It's the most wonderful time of the year......... I take DDs picture waiting for the most. Last year I forgot. :sad2: I must have really been into that song!!!:lmao:

Perhaps we should all get our kids on the bus, come on line and have margaritas.. it really doesn't matter the time, does it? :)

How many different first day of schools do we have? I think I'd have to buy the BIG bottle. :)

We do the 1st day of school photo. There were a few times whne I've forgotten!!! They are funny to look at since in the lower grades he would be smiling like crazy. Middle school and last year for his first year of high school he was NOT smiling and giving me the "come on Mom" look!:lmao:

The other tradition I try to do is to bake cookies on the first day of school so that he comes home to fresh cookies. It's usually peanut butter cookies with the Hershy Kiss on top since those are his favorites.
