First boyfriend/girlfriend

I wasn't going to respond, because I didn't want to get into why I felt "odd and wired." But you post spike to me. This was me! I was 20 and had never been kissed. A couple of dates here and there, but no one was really interested. I was awkward and so nervous."

Eventually I had a boyfriend but it was brief and kind of upsetting because couple my inexperience with his immaturity and it was not going to work. I had presence of mind not to go too far with him.

A few dates and four years later, I met a great guy. We got engaged 10 months after we met and will be married 20 years this October.

Is it unusual? Sure. But it is not abnormal or weird. You'll be fine!

Wow this is me also!! Lol!!! My first boyfriend I was almost 21 and only a few dates before him. I also was painfully shy and that relationship only lasted a few months, he was very hard to get over. Then a couple years later I met my hubby and learned to just be myself! We dated two years and have been married 21 yrs!! I totally understand how the op feels, so many of my friends were in relationships and I felt left out and kinda akward, shy, and different. But I just learned to focus on my job, friends, family and just have fun. Good luck op, you're young and have lots of time to find someone!!

I was around 13 or 14. A neighborhood boy two doors up called me one day and asked me to go out on double date to the movies. I was sooo green I told him I'd call my Mom(work) and let him know. I was uninterested in boys where did he get the idea anyway?? lol I ended up breaking his heart. Lawd

I had my first "boyfriend" in 3rd grade. Mind you, to me a "boyfriend" was a boy who would ride bikes and go swimming with me in the summer. We gave each other valentines day cards (he got the big one in my Disney Princess box of valentines) and that's about as romantic as it got.

I had my first "actual" boyfriend at 14. DBF only had a girlfriend sophomore year of college. I don't think he was looked at as weird; he was just involved with a lot of other stuff in school and didn't really devote a lot of time to the dating girls (but he liked to look at them ;-))

At what age did most of you get your first boyfriend or girlfriend?
I "dated" a guy in 6th grade for like 7 months. We were more serious when we got back together in 8th grade. He is now gay and we stay in touch!

I started dating my husband when I was 15 and he was 16. We've been together ever since.

At what age do you think is a good age to?
I don't really consider middle school "relationships" to be actual relationships. I'd say high school when you can properly date - have a car, a job for spending money, etc.

And at what age do you think its odd not to have had one by?
What a tough question. I think it just depends on the person and where they are in life. I have a few girl friends in their early-mid 20s who have never been on a date and a few guy friends who are in their mid-20s who haven't dated anyone either. I think that's a little odd to not have ever had 1 date, but who am I to judge?
