In 2006 we went at the end of May and I just about died. Seems like that year was hotter then usual at the end of May beginning of June - add into the mix that we had a 7 month old who was getting cranky and a mother who hates when it's above 90 and i swore i'd never go down in the heat again.

so we were thinking about booking for next January but i don't think that well happen (may not have enough time to get the passport needed for the new baby - should we conceive in the next 2 months) so we are now thinking about the first 2 weeks in May.

what's it like then? was 06 high temps unusual for the end of May and is there much difference at the beginning?

what about the crowds? January is perfect - no lines, not many people wandering around bumping into you. May was busy and we couldn't figure out where all these people came from since school was still in and there wasn't any holidays.

what's your experience. - i'll even consider the last week in April first week in May (my b-day falls at the end of Apr so it would be a great celebration).

The end of May is busy due to the Memorial Day Holiday. The week before and after that holiday will usually have higher crowds.

Last week in April/first week in May should be less crowded this year. Easter falls in March so that will avoid the high crowds then. May 11 is Mother's Day so that weekend may also have more park guests.

We go the first couple of weeks of May quite often. I love it that time of year. The weather is usually in the upper 80's. But we have seen it in the low 90's too. We haven't encounter too much rain on our trips. And the crowds aren't too bad at all. Most every year we have been over Mother's Day and really haven't noticed a change in crowds around that day. The actual day can be a bit busy, but not bad really. During the first part of May you won't find many waits over 15 or 20 minutes.

We went the first two weeks of May last year, and it became my new favorite time to visit! LOVE the flower and garden festival! Weather was very nice, because it hadn't gotten humid yet.

We were there the first week of May in 2006 and it was uncharacteristically hot (I remember being at Animal Kingdom thinking that I was going to melt into the pavement!). May is certainly our favourite time of year in terms of the weather and the crowds. We were there this year during the second/third week of May and I have to say that I found it somewhat busier when compared with the first week. Not to mention that we encountered some love bugs this year during the second/third week of May. I don't mind them personally but I remember thinking that this was the first time that I've ever seen them even though we always visit WDW in May. I guess since our visit this year was a little bit later in the month (we would have gone the first week but had another committment that we couldn't get out of), we ended up stumbling into love bug season! Not sure when exactly that is but I certainly wouldn't schedule my trip around it.

We've been there in early May ~ half a dozen times, and like the temperature and lower crowds very much. I dislike the heat and even though it may be warm, it's always been much less humid than Sept/Oct (I won't even TALK about the one and only time we went in late August!).

PS -- many schools get out before Memorial Day, but many others go through the 2nd or 3rd week in June.
