Disney.

One word that does a whole lot, huh?

If you didn’t know, my boyfriend and I went to Disney for four days, three nights for our one year anniversary. Everything was amazing. We got a dream awarded to us at breakfast, with the characters coming up to us, cheering us on and all. A mini cupcake, and a heart on the table made of confetti also. Weather was perfect, lines were short – and all in all it was amazing.

Except the fireworks. We love Wishes. End of story. October 24th, 2006 we went to Mickey’s Halloween party.. had a blast. Amazing. The next day, we have breakfast at Crystal Palace, and dinner at 1900 Park Fare.. both brilliant. However, the tram earlier that morning, tells us that Wishes will be shown at 9PM, and to watch out for the flying Tinkerbell. We got a Times Chart from the Grand Floridian before dinner (THAT WE STILL HAVE) that states that Wishes will take place that night, the 25th, at 9PM. So, we go to Magic Kingdom, grab some popcorn.. and wait for Jiminey's voice overhead.. waiting.. waiting.. and then we hear it. Hallowishes will be shown. I am NERVE WRACKED. I had already seen Wishes the night before. It was advertised by the CM’s, the timesheets, etc..

However, prior to leaving, I stop by Guest Relations, where another family is complaining.. and the Cast Members (specifically one guy, whom I forgot the name of), stated that Hallowishes is EXACTLY like Wishes.. Uhm, no! IT IS NOT, and you very well know that. They told us there was nothing they could do, and sent us off.

The tram lady said it would be Wishes, the Times sheet said it would be Wishes, and even the Disney website 3 weeks ago, said it would be WISHES! And it is not, and we leave before the fireworks even start -- pissed off.

We spent Thursday, the 26th, eating breakfast in Epcot, and trying to not be upset. I even gave two Million Year Dreams pins away to Cast Members because they were NICE. The following day, Friday, we venture to the ticketing booth and try to speak with a Manager, who talks to us.. but states there is nothing they could do. I am sorry, but my boyfriend and I are college kids who can only afford a trip like this every once in a while, even though we live close.. and it HURT not to see Wishes.. the Manager said there was nothing he could do, and in all honestly, I understand you can't change fireworks.. and all I wanted was the sheets to be changed at the hotels, and the CM's to know exactly what was going on, and perhaps, to be compensated for just that ONE day so we could come back, just for WISHES.

So now I'm here.. and I just read on the Disboards.com forums, that people received 1, 2, 3 day tickets for complaining about it.. and I didn’t understand why. We’re they giving them out to people who had kids? Who deserved them? I didn’t care about tickets.. I just wanted to know why we simply got pushed away after 2 minutes of words while others were treated better .. so I wrote two emails, and called.. and finally got an answer.

Disney, being amazing as they are, are sending us a pair of two day park hoppers for us to enjoy so we can see Wishes again soon. They called me personally, sent my emails to the GM of Magic Kingdom, and offered to give us discount hotel reservations on site for our next stay so that we would just come back.

So I just faxed them all of my information, and now I can’t help but cry.

I didn’t want tickets, or all of this at all. I just saw children leave Magic Kingdom that night who were said about not being able to see Wishes, and families that were fuming.. and all I wanted was to be talked to fore more than a second – or blown away.

..

Disney always makes magic happen.

You are kind of high maintenance, aren't you?

Sorry but you just made me crack up!!!

Sabbie,

I do understand the frustration of having your heart set on seeing a special show and then having it yanked out from under you. I'm glad Disney came through inthe end and helped ease the disapointment. :thumbsup2

*frowns* Not too much honestly. It just felt like everyone I talked to wasn't helping at all. The Guest Relations guy who told everyone who was in the office complaining that Hallowishes was exactly like Wishes and we would have to deal with it. Even the head honcho at the Ticketing Counter stated that there was nothing he could do. I asked them if the Grand Floridian was still giving out the old Timesheets -- and he said he wasn't sure, and that he would call when he was not busy.

That part really made me mad.

I dunno. I just expect more out of Disney CM's in all of those situations.

It's okay if people call me high-maintence. I was to a bit, but mostly just frustrated that people were being pushed away despite the fact everyone got the wrong idea. :\

Im sure that the time sheets are printed weeks in advance and perhaps there was a mistake when the set up for wishes and just set up for hallowishes instead. Who knows... Hope you have a good time with your free tickets. We never saw wishes that's because it was raining so hard... no free tickets for that...

Seriously, I am sorry you had your expectations dashed, but Disney did come through in the end. It would have been nice to have had your frustrations listened too, and perhaps remedied on the spot, but they did finally come through with a way to see Wishes in the future. Be happy for that.

There really wasn't a lot they could do. Even if they did go to the expense of reprinting the manuals (which, in all actuality, would probably be more expensive than the fireworks display), the vast majority of people there are happy to see fireworks, any fireworks.

You are more than welcome to have my tickets, if you'd like. The hotel discount helps afford tickets for our next trip (since we get the Florida 3 day play pass thing).

Let me know. I don't mind at all. I love spreading the magic.. gave away an extra set of MNSSHP tickets when I was there too! ;)

Oh, I agree there was not much they could do.. It just frustrated me that the GF timesheets were out, stating the wrong information, for over 4 days.. and the CM's were explaining Wishes would be shown tonight. Trust me, there were waves of people leaving, and loads of families in Guest Relations extremely upset. I just hate being pushed away after half a minute.

i would just like to point out that little asteric on all publications, shows and show times can change with out notice.

Sabbie, life is full of disappointments you can't let them get you down and affect you for days.

Conrgrats that your letters got you something free.

My guess is, had they not been told, most people probably would never know they saw a different show than what was on the schedules. Sure, we here all know, but we're a very small minority of Disney visitors. Most people are happy to just see some fireworks, let alone a Disney-caliber show.

Sorry you were disappointed, but I have to think that you and others who were were in the vast minority. (I actually like Hallowishes better than Wishes :rolleyes1 )

I am sorry you were disappointed. The week after we returned from our trip they started showing Hallowishes nightly instead of Wishes. I was thinking how glad I was I went when I did and some people here on the Dis were a little disappointed they were paying for a hard ticket including 'special' fireworks only to have them shown nightly. I am soo glad we went when we did, we actually saw Wishes twice and Hallowishes once from the party and once from FW beach.

I wish you had the opportunity to read these boards before your trip, it might have alleviated some of the disappointment.

Yeah, if we had knew, I would of totally booked the trip prior to the 15th.

We just sort of fell in love when we saw Wishes, and it was important to us, you know?

February 13th-19th, 2007: Valentine's Day trip with the boyfriend!
! December 16th, 2006: Group get together at Disney! 1 Day trip!
! October 24th-29th, 2006: Disney World, 6 Days; One Year Anniversary
! September 23rd, 2006: Disney World, 4 Parks, 1 Day; Charlie & David's Birthday
! July 20th & 21st, 2006: Disney World, 2 Days; 19th Birthday Celebration
! April 16th, 2006: Disney World, 1 Day, 1 Park; Random, out of the blue trip

Am I the only one who doesn't get how this statement fits the number of trips listed? I can only imagine being able to go to WDW that often!

Anyways...sorry about the fireworks. But, like someone else mentioned, others have missed Wishes & other things due to bad weather and that's just part of life.

No need to be mean about it...

I would be disappointed too if I had my heart set on seeing a particular show and then having it changed at what seems like the last minute. I'm also sure sabbie wasn't the only one there expecting to see wishes and being dissapointed... I see no problem with expressing displeasure about things like that :confused3

I just thought it was a bit rude for someone to post just about you being high maintenance, and not even offer a "sorry you had this experience".

I probably would have done the same thing you did.
