Fireworks from Poly Beach?

When, if ever, is it okay to view Wishes from the Poly beach if you're not a guest?

  • It's okay anytime, unconditionally

  • It's okay only during off peak times

  • It's okay, but only if you're dining at the Poly (any time of year)

  • It's okay, but only if you're dining at the Poly (during off peak times)

  • It's never okay, under any circumstances

If you are a guest of another resort, is it okay to view Wishes from the Poly beach? I've heard many people say they've done this, and I've heard many people recommend it, but I'm wondering if it's not kind of like pool hopping...beach hopping, lol. I'm not necessarily saying it's wrong, but I don't want to do it if everyone else thinks it's wrong. We'll be there the week after Thanksgiving--should be very uncrowded--if that makes a difference.

Like I said, I'm not condemning it nor am I condoning it. I'm just honestly curious to see what everyone else thinks. TIA

We did this last year. And we may do it next year too! We plan on finding out if it's allowed by asking the CM's when we're there. Last year, we told our waiter at 'Ohana that we'd be doing it, and he said, "Great idea!". I never thought it might be wrong until I read this board a few months ago and saw the uproar about it!! (I knew pool hopping was wrong though!)

 I missed that one!

I remember the stir lol. (Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again). I am one to not want to break the rules so when we have dined at 'Ohana (2 times) our "cousin" has always suggested that we stroll to the beach and watch the fireworks I never thought twice about it being a no no. Neither time was it crowded. When the debate stirred I was so curious (yes I need to get a life but Disney World is my hobby) I emailed WDW guest relations and asked about it. They emailed me back that someone would contact me. They did and he said that we were welcomed to visit the Polynesian resort and watch the fireworks after dinner. He said the sign was really intended for daytime use of non-guests of the beach, the lawn chairs, and the hammocks because that is when they are most needed, (and he said it VERY nicely) that they hoped that people who were not staying there would not take up those items at night either so Poly guests would be able to sit, but that watching the fireworks from the beach was no problem. I know, another CM might saying something different but just thought I'd pass on what they told me.

Our family has stayed in Poly Concierge almost exclusively for the past 3 years and I could care less if a family wants to sit on the curb or the dock or the beach to view the fireworks. Life is too short for us to worry whether or not non-Poly guests are taking up a small part of this huge resort. We feel fortunate to be able to stay at the Poly and I wish anyone the pleasure of enjoying the EWP or fireworks from the beach. It really is a special experience. Have fun!! Threehearts

Ditto,

We are going this Week for 10 days, not really concerned who's going to be on the beach watching fireworks, I've been to Y an B Club on several 4th of July's and the beach wasn't even that crowed.

Ther's room for everyone, as far as chairs go, even that is first come first serve, I really try not to get all fired up over stuff like that, 3Hearts is right, life is to short, we'll all in this world together. Same goes for the pool hopping.

Try going to some of the firework shows here in CT or NY. Now that's people crowding together.

Have a great week.
