Hello..

We have never riden the Finding Nemo submarine ride and I'm wondering how it is? Please help me answer a couple of questions:

1. When is the best time to ride? I know there are no FP and I've heard wait times for 1-2 hours! Morning? Afternoon? How about riding it at nighttime? Can you still see things?

2. How do you load into the sub? Is it okay for my "Pooh - sized" hubby to go with us or should I tell him to go try a different ride instead? I'd hate for him to get up there with us and realize he can't even join us.

3. About how long is the ride?

4. What do you see?

5. Is it worth it?

Thanks so much.

As a Pooh-sized guest, I found Nemo a do-able but a little claustrophobic. Getting in is not a big deal at all. It's the seating that I found a little uncomfortable. It's comparable, I would say, to an airplane seat, although there are no arms.

You simply sit on a pad on a bench. I felt very sorry for the person beside me because we were thigh-to-thigh some of the time. (I'm very self-conscious about taking up more than my own space.) It wasn't horrible, but if I had it to do over again I would put my own family members on either side of me and it wouldn't be a big deal. (We chose to put adults on either side, which is where the problem came in.)

To be completely honest we are not seeing it this time around because my kids didn't think it was worth the wait. If you really love Nemo, you shouldn't miss it though, but my kids had other places they would have rather spent their time.

HTH.

Best time is to either:

o get to DL early (30 minutes before opening) and ride it during Magic Morning or a non-MM day.

o wait until late afternoon or evening when the line dies down a little

The entrance is steep. I could see your husband having trouble but other folks on the forum may know better from personal experience. The ride is 14 minutes long.

You see Nemo and other movie characters under water, plus a some colorful underwater views.

Worth it? Depends on who you ask. Worth it to wait 20 minutes? Yes. Worth it for 30-45 minutes? Maybe once.

You can still enjoy this attraction without getting on the submarine. Go to the loading area (don't stand in the long line) and tell the CM you would like to use the observation room for this ride. You can always tell them you are claustrophobic. They have a room that has benches (the kids can sit or play on the floor, if they prefer. There is lots of room in there) and the attraction is presented on a large screen. It looks really good and I much prefer it to the experience on the sub. (Plus, it's airconditioned if you happen to be there on a hot day.)
Enjoy!

Your husband can ask them to seat him on the "outside" edge, which would allow him to be more comfortable and not squeezing himself so much that he hates the ride.

The stairs are steep and they spiral. If he doesn't have knee problems it should be fine.

If he ultimately isn't comfy (by the way, you can go up to the monorail platform and look down, to see the sub entrances) there's a seating area where you can just watch the experience!

The sub ride isn't actually totally under that water (though it looks like it is)...it's all very well lit, and the only thing that will be different at night, is that when you are actually under the water and you look up, you'll see the artificial lights over the lagoon vs the sunshine above the lagoon.

I second Molly's suggestion about riding on the "outside" edge. My husband (6 4-ish, 300-ish) said he never would have made it (comfort-wise) if he hadn't been the last one on the sub. Because he had that last seat it was bearable. We got in line at night, thinking that it would be our last ride of the night. The wait was 12 min, shorter than we expected, so we rode Autopia as our last ride.

We also use the alternate viewing room, mostly because my little guy doesn't like the loud noises and is able to sit on my lap and "hide" when needed. The CM's are always more than happy to help us. I like it because I don't have to wait in the long line!

So there is a room where you can just view what you normaly see thru the portholles? That sounds awesome. Is it just up on a screen? Also, do you have to have any special reason to see it this way? Maybe a disabled person or something to that effect? Is there much of a wait to see it this way?

The room is technically for those who have some reason why they can't go down in the submarine. I use it because of my ECV. I do actually like it better than the ride. If you can ride the submarine, it would be nice for you to use that option, because even though it's a room, there's only so much space in there for those of us with restricted options. But if you've got a legit reason (claustrophobia, knee pain, pooh sized, etc.) then come on over and join us in there. :flower3: The wait varies, just like on any ride.

We rode it Monday morning. After we got Indy FPs rode the Astro Orbitors, BLAB, and PP. IDK what time of the morning that was but the wait was only 15 minutes. When we got off the line was considerably longer. So I would for sure get there early like others have said.
The stairs are the worst for me. I have a bad ankle I broke years ago and those stairs are narrow and steep.

I have a picture of a sub entrance and spiral stairs, if that helps anyone. :)

The last time I rode Nemo I was with an elderly friend in a electric wheelchair. We opted for the Observation Room. It was really awesome. You are seeing the same show, I really liked the atmosphere. I did not know what to expect but the Imaginears have done a great job with this room. :tink:

We do Nemo in the Observation Room. My DM gets claustrophobic, so the room is perfect for her. Plus, as PP said, it's air conditioned while the subs aren't. Imagine being on the subs in the heat of summer!:scared1: Another reason to go early in the day.:goodvibes

It very easy to use the room. Enter through the entrance and get a CMs attention. The longest we've ever had to wait is one cycle (about 15 min.) But to keep that line from getting too long, let's keep this our little sercret!

My mother has knee problems and cannot do stairs, would we all be able to enjoy the show together or would they only allow her to use the observation room?

Not sure what "show" you are referring to. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (FNSV) is a ride on a submarine.

If she cannot do stairs I do not see how she can do this ride.

Thanks everyone for all the information. And picture of the stairs! This is very helpful to me and to many others on this forum. Please keep any more comments/suggestions/tips coming!

I don't know if this is still the case, but back when I worked on Nemo, I had some Guests of size who expressed these kinds of concerns.

Personally, I always handled it by having the party wait to the side for a few minutes, and then when boarding a new row, I would underload it and then have the party enter in such a way that not only would they be on the outside edge, but also have a few extra seats for comfort.

If you discreetly let the Grouper CM (the one who asks how many are in your party and then sorts parties into the rows for boarding) know, and are willing to possibly wait a few minutes, I don't believe it should be a problem.

You can also experience the Attraction through the Marine Observation Lounge alternative experience, as discussed above. There may be a wait depending on whether the lounge is in use, and if a Host or Hostess is available to load you in and set you on your way. You don't even need to wait in line, just inform the Host or Hostess under the Attraction marquee.

As stated above, no reason needs to be given. I remember having some Guests who wanted to go in it because they wanted to see what it looked like. It was a nice change of routine (not to mention a great opportunity to practice my Australian accent, lol), so I always liked loading Guests in there.

Am I the only one that thought the Nemo ride was terrible? It was hot and stuffy in the sub and the animation was not that cool, we went first thing in the morning and still waited for about 30 minutes.
