FINALLY! Park Reservations go away Jan. 2024. Also Dining plans return

What I liked about the fast pass system was the ability to pick times for 3 rides that were one after the other (1pm,2pm and 3pm). I would also arrange the times so I wasn't zig zagging all over the park ( one ride in Tomorrowland, one in Fantasyland and one in Frontier land). With Genie + there's none of that. You have to take what's there and it wasn't usually the most convenient.
I also hate having to wake up at 7 am to book Genie + ( the few times we've used it) and ILL.
I'm just hoping not to have to wake up at 7am!

This is the exact reason that I preferred the old FP over Genie+. But we are a lot more relaxed about going to the parks now, so it isn’t really an issue for us. If we miss a ride; we will try to catch it next time.

Are you talking APs? They currently treat those staying onsite with APs differently so there is nothing in the news that indicates it won’t be the same moving forward in that we won’t need them onsite.

I just think we need to wait for more info before jumping to conclusions that DVC owners using points who have APs will be put back into the regular AP rules.

agree, don’t think DVC/APH will be treated any differently than others staying onsite under the forthcoming changes as to reservations.

IMO, since it’s often impossible to find anything DVC for an impromptu trip a few months out, members shouldn’t be penalized if booking an onsite resort room instead.

No interest in DP or TIW. personally, after the first few years, we soured on the DP. Initially, as to cost. currently, many restaurants/menus just don’t interest me, unless family or friends are along and want the “bubble” experience. We do still have our favorites we visit regularly, just intersperse with offsite ones too.

As long as either program isn’t subsidized by membership dues, I’m rooting for those who wish them back. it’s the same as any other option/discount, a good thing for the general membership as a whole.

I don’t mind the park reservations, it’s the restricted hopping that’s bothering me. If I have a reservation for MK why can’t I walk through epcot to get to the monorail?

I can't see paying for Genie+ months in advance, not knowing what the weather will be like during my trip.
