I finally quit being wishy-washy and ordered tickets for our upcoming trip. For some reason I couldn't make myself do it, but then I got worried that our date might sell out. We're going 12/16. It will be our first party, so I'm looking forward to it!

I recommend you study up good on these boards before you go. That date will almost certainly sell out so you will want to maximize your precious 5 hours of MVMCP time. Tip 1 from me: arrive no later than 4 and do everything not MVMCP-related (including food and rides) before 7. Have fun!

Yay!!! :cool1:

That's the night we're going, too. It will be our first MVMCP, and I can't wait!

Thanks for the tip! Is it really crowded in the park when it sells out? I have no idea what to expect.

Can anyone tell me what happens if it should rain or be raining the night of your MVMCP? Do they still have the parades and are the rides open? We have tickets for 12/09/2010 and the extended forcast for that dates says rain....Oh my makes me sad...

I don't know first-hand because we went to an early party that was fairly empty. But I know from reading here that the lines for characters and shows will be long and spots for the fireworks and especially the parade will be at a premium. Look for the thread entitled "Everything you need to know about MVMCP tips and tricks" (or something close). It's a long thread but full of good ideas to help formulate a plan that helps you get the things done you want to do.

ETA: Actually the thread is called "OFFICIAL 2010 MVMCP Tips and Tricks" and is currently on the second page of this board.

Rides should be fine, and fireworks will probably not be affected. Parades are most susceptible to rain. However, as a native Floridian, I can confidently assure you that rain forecasts around here are virtually worthless more than three days out. In other words, its way too early to worry about rain.

Thanks. I have read the thread you're talking about and it does have some good tips. It seems it was there that I read the second parade will be less crowded. I have already told my husband that we will just be prepared for crowds and we'll make the best of it. This trip we are going alone, so with just two of us we'll be able to maneuver around a lot easier.

That will help a lot, also because you probably won't worry with meeting with a lot of characters like we did with DD6. Second parade is less crowded, and Frontierland spots are easier to get than Main Street, but I understand the appeal of Main since it snows there.

In a word, :crowded::crowded::crowded:! Especially Main Street. Some of the rides were OK, but the line for Space Mountain was ot the front door. And for so few hours that's the last thing I want to do is sped an hour in one line. It also depends o what you are going for. We have been to 3 parties. Two were awesome! Very light and nearly walk on rides. We never do any of the shows (we did do the parade though on the first 2), we just goto enjoy light lines on the rides. We don't generally wait for the cookies and cocoa either. We used to do a few character pictures. On a sell-out night though, it can be NOT fun. Be prepared and study up. Your is almost certain to be VERY full! I won't go ever again if it's a sell out which is why I'll wait to get there to buy tickets.

We'll do all the rides in the morning. The main reason I bought the tickets is to see the fireworks and parade. The tickets are already purchased, so we'll just make the best of it. I think with just two of us, it won't seem so bad. Usually we go to the parks with my whole family and trying to keep a group of 8 or so together is the hardest thing. Thanks, now I'll know to expect a crowd. :) Oh, and any advice about what time we should line up for the fireworks and second parade?

It is PACKED...I know disney restricts sales to 20,000-22,000 tickets for this.but when ALL 20,000+ people are trying to see and do the same few things it makes it quite crowded.Make a plan and stick to it

re: rain...back in Dec 2008 we had a brief shower and the parade was delayed for about an hour. The can't do the parade in the rain. :(

For 2nd parade, I would guess no less than 45 minutes before start in Frontierland, and probably 60-75 minutes before start in Main Street--assuming you want front-row spots. You can get away with later if front-row is not important to you, of course. Again these are guesses because we did the Nov 12 party and did not have to secure 2nd parade front-row spots in Frontierland until about 15 minutes before.

Well, I'm still being wishy washy...LOL! I had decided to get the tickets. Then I decided it was a waste. Then I decided the other day that it was a special moment I didn't want to miss on this special trip. Now I'm reading how the parties the last week will all sell out and be totally packed :scared1:(was planning for Dec 14) and now I'm back to questioning if I want to go....UGH!!!
I kind of thought Tuesday would be slower than other days but reading all the posts in the other thread say differently.:headache:

Even the day of can be extremely suspect. Last trip several days they kept saying "Rain all day" and it didn't rain for more than 30 minutes in the morning before the clouds peeled back to reveal a beautiful sunny sky the rest of the day. I get tickled when people panic about weather forecasts weeks before their trip. :lmao:

Me too.
