Finally! My Very First Solo Trip - Pictures have been added!!!

Note to self: DO NOT tell anyone else about this trip. I mentioned it to one of the guys in another department and he was like, "oh, take our secretary with you. She could use a trip." I was like "uh, uh, uh......no" and thought of a good reason she couldn't go. Worked, but whoa, that was close.

hahaha, I've been going through the same thing! Everyone I talk to is like, you shouldn't really go alone. when's your trip? maybe I could move some things around....

and then i scream and run away!! I don't think anyone really understands that I actually WANT to go by myself! And you're really lucky you can travel like that for work! My job is not quite so flexible...haha, the only place we go for training is a mountain lodge in Tennessee! :sad2:

That's the problem. Most people can't comprehend why someone would want to go by themselves. I just tell them "it's a Disney thing". :thumbsup2

This is only my third trip for work in the 19 years, the last one was 10 years ago. Yes, I am incredibly fortunate.

...doesn't have to be a "Disney thing". I went on that New England cruise by myself last October if you recall. I had a blast.

That's right, you did! See all sorts of places to go solo. I love going to the mall solo. :confused3 I just love wandering around, sitting on a bench people watching, looking at stuff I would never buy. :goodvibes

Figured out one problem I am having with this trip. I'm not sewing. :upsidedow

For the past three trips I have made customs for DD and any other child going along and this time...:confused3 no one to sew for. :lmao:

I have my folder together, just waiting for my rental car certificate to come in the mail. Just kind of twittling my thumbs......this is a very easy trip to plan for. :thumbsup2

Hey Tracy, thanks for stopping over. :goodvibes

Yes, 22 days :woohoo::woohoo:

Came over to post something and now I can't remember what it was. But another bit of good news. I found a 40% off code for my rental car.:woohoo: I love coupons!:love:

So, this trip is good for another reason. I have always wanted to go alone. Of course, that is the whole purpose to this thread. This past January I was suppose to do the marathon alone, but a friend decided to join me. Not by invitation, but more like, "I'm going with you". and me being too nice to say no, she had already signed up. She went and I wasn't very nice. Well, I wasn't mean or anything, just not my usual perky, happy self. :sad2: Just wasn't a good thing.

Now, I am signed up for next January 1/2 and another friend is going. :confused3 Not quite sure why everyone wants to go with me. Anyway, first off she asked didn't just tell me she was going. We are very alike, have traveled before and gotten along great, (just leave her DH at home:goodvibes he's not happy if he isn't fishing) and she is worried about ruining my alone trip. Well, I have a complete different attitude about it now. I told her, I'm getting my solo trip, so this one will be for us.

Look for that trip report in the Fall.

21 day to go!!! :banana::banana::banana:
Three weeks from right now, I will be at the airport waiting to board my plane. :banana::banana::banana:

I received my registration card for the training in the mail today. :thumbsup2

The guys at work have started placing bets on if I will actually make it to any training. :rolleyes1 I will go to the training, there are so many sessions I want to attend that I have to chose which ones to go to. Plus, my supervisor said today and I quote "I'm sure she'll make it to the sessions if she wants this to become an annual trip." :woohoo::banana::cool1::woohoo::banana::cool1:

Did he say what I think he said?!?! :woohoo: Love it!

I'm in the teens!!! Been a long time since I have said that. :lmao: 19 days to go!!! :banana::banana::banana:

I don't know about live updates. Disney's internet is kind of pricey for me. I might have it for one day though as if I can get something loaded on my laptop then I will be working one evening, so I will definilty be logging onto the Dis. :thumbsup2

You and me both hope he keeps that promise. :goodvibes But one thing I have learned about him in the past 10 years we have been working together, he doesn't say something unless he means it. Doesn't mean it will actually happen, but he will try. One of the reasons I have hung around. :goodvibes
An "annual trip"?!?!?!?!:cool1: :woohoo::yay::cheer2: That sounds WONDERFUL!:dance3::yay::cool1::woohoo:
Doesn't it though!!!!! :banana::banana:

16 more days!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Let's go through the list:

training verification - check
travel approved - check
travel card verified - check
resort reserved - check
flights - check
rental car - check
classes chosen - check
schedules made - check
after school care for DD - check

Looking good, only two more weeks. :banana:

How many more days?? 14?? :banana::banana::banana:

Hey - did you book any ADR's?? Due to this little thing called April 15th (remember - I work for a CPA firm) I've missed out on some of your posts. Things got a bit crazy there for me.

12 more days to go!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Nope, no ADRs this time. I tossed the idea around, but finally decided I am definitly just going to wing it. Lots of CS that I would like to try that the family wouldn't like, especially at Epcot. I have been looking at menus and it will be more like, get one thing from here, walk to the next country and get one thing from there. One more thing to be excited about it being a solo trip.
:banana::banana::banana:

11 more days to go!!! :banana::banana::banana: Tomorrow will be 10 and I am going to try the on-line check in for the resort. :thumbsup2

10 more days to go!!! :banana::banana::banana: Tomorrow I'll be single digit dancing. :banana::banana::banana:

I tried to do the on-line check in but didn't finish. There was a statement that my credit card would be charged upon checkin and I need to use a different one than the one that I used for my deposit. So, I'll just do the on-line check in next time. Really wanted to see how it worked and if it really does save time.

Bought a couple (cheap) rain ponchos today. The really small ones that are easy to carry in a backpack and don't weigh anything. I used one for the marathon and it worked great. I figured, just in case. and if I decide to try Splash Mountain, for the first time, I could use one then. Yes, it's true, I have never been on Splash Mountain before. I don't like to get wet and then have to walk around that way. I know... a lot of people barely get wet on it, but trust me. If I ride it, I will get soaked. Since I will be by myself, I won't have to worry about my family being embarrassed by my wearing a rain poncho when the sun is shining. :thumbsup2

Packing has not begun yet.
Reason 1 - DD still doesn't know I am going anywheres.
Reason 2 - I am a last minute packer. I'll have all weekend to pack. :rolleyes1

The last time I went on Splash ... I wasn't very nice. :rolleyes1 I wanted the last row since I usually don't get very wet on the last row (I HATE getting wet on rides as well! That's why I haven't been on Kali since 1999!). Well, my friend and I were assigned the third row and a British couple was assigned the 4th. (Their first time on Splash - and I think to WDW) I don't remember what I said to them but I convinced them to switch rows with us before getting in the log. Last drop and they got wet while my friend and I were only sprinkled. I let them in on the fact I wanted the last row for that reason. I don't think they were happy about getting wet but they were good sports about it. They only shot dagger looks at me for a minute or two. :littleangel:

... and yes, I do feel a bit guilty for that. (I guess that I need a little devil smiley right here - huh?)
