Finally! My Very First Solo Trip - Pictures have been added!!!

Whoo-Hoo! You're back! And posting! And probably wishing that you were still at the World. :teeth:

Welcome Back!

I can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Congrats to your DD on the program cover! :cheer2: How did she like doing the photo shoot?

Looking forward to your next installment!:thumbsup2

Where did you go? :confused3 Back to Disney?

Don't make me steal some of your popcorn smiley’s off of Sandy's threads and repost them here. :teeth:

Just wanted to post that I will be getting back to this trip report very soon and FINISH IT!

I ended up very sick for a couple of weeks and then DH dropped my laptop. After it came back from the CPU doctor, I have had to re-construct stuff and pics again. Unfortunately the hard drive was damaged and he wasn't able to save everything.

We will be spending the next week at a lake in a cottage that does not have any kind of communications capabilities. No phones, TV, internet, nada. But I will be able to work on my report, get it all typed up and then begin posting when we return to civilization. :thumbsup2

Soon, soon....you will be able to live my wonderful week (okay 5 days) at the World....all alone, doing exactly (for the most part, work did interfere) what I wanted to do.

See you in about a week.......

:yay: Can't wait until we can read more! :surfweb: Hope you can still post some more pictures and that they weren't lost in the laptop crash. :sad2:

popcorn:: Ready for more - can't wait for you to get back. I'm desperate for a trip right now. And while I have the money, I'd regret spending it since I have a big trip planned in January for the marathon. So I'll have to live vicariously through your TR instead. :teeth:

Bet y'all thought I was a lost cause....didn't you? ::yes::

First let me apologize for my absence and explain. I had promised to finish writing this trip report while I was at the lake, which I did. The day I was driving back to the city with DS a friend called, said she had some news to tell me but couldn't do it while I was driving. Well, that's a nice phone call. It was raining, the throughway was under construction which meant the lanes were tight. Lots of traffic and I'm getting worried and going through a list of people who might have had something happen. I had DS begin calling people, just to check in. No one said anything. :confused3 As soon as I reached DSIL's house I called back. A very dear friend (DD's dance teacher) and her family were killed in a horrific traffic accident that morning. I was devastated. :sad1: Yes, I have been on the Dis, but in absolutely no mood to write about something so happy when I was so sad. But, I have come to terms with what happened and now ready to move on.:goodvibes Let's get this show on the road.....:thumbsup2

Footnote: I don't have pics right now. DH dropped my laptop and broke my hard drive. The cpu doc was able to save a lot of stuff but not the recent pics I had uploaded. Thankfully those are still on my camera.....which DH has with him this weekend in NY. I needed to reload the pics, searched the house for my camera and couldn't find it. Called DH, yep he has it. "Why?" I ask, "you have a camera". "But yours takes much better pictures than mine." was the reply. So no pics now, I'll just add those next week.
Making no promises though......

I took a nap and awoke to a very loud piercing scream of a child. Not next door, but from the outside. The screaming stopped, so I figured a parent had taken care of it. I freshened up and left to go to the convention center to check in for training tomorrow. Walking out to the parking lot, I see this. A fire truck with it’s lights on. Then I heard a CM apologizing, saying he had jumped the gun when he heard the screams and automatically called 911.

I found the convention center without a problem but it took a little figuring out exactly where I needed to be. Gosh that place is big. After very smoothly checking in, I looked around to figure out where I needed to be for tomorrow.

I came back to the resort to change and headed out to HS. It was very hot, 96 was the highest I saw.
The morning lifeguards were dancing to YMCA at the end of their shift change.

Didn’t have to wait very long for the bus and off we went. HS was busy but not really crowded.

First stop was TSM with a wait of 45 minutes. I decided to do something else and check back to see if the wait went down. This was a bad mistake. I went to Backlot Tours, but realized that I could make the last showing of Beauty and the Beast.
On the way to B&B I saw this guy. Not quite sure what he was suppose to be doing as no one seemed to be noticing him.

A bit of advice here. If you want to sit front and center, you must arrive early. Several people arrived less than five minutes to show time and were frustrated that they couldn’t sit up front. That section was full when I arrived 20 minutes before show time. The lady in front of me was worried about her children being able to see and what does she do? As soon as the show began she puts up the video camera completely blocking my view. I had to move over which meant the lady behind me had to move over and it was a chain reaction. I didn’t say anything to her because I actually felt sorry for her. She told her children that this would be their only trip to the World. She didn’t seem to think they enjoyed it enough.

Some of the show.

As I was exiting Beauty I discovered a baby snake on the brick wall. I found a CM to remove it. Not sure if it was alive of not, I didn’t stick around, I was off to Tower or Terror.

DisneyMay2010029.jpg

The wait time said 13 minutes. 13 minutes? Try none. Walked right in.

Checked back with TSM, still 45 minutes. Off to One Man’s Dream.
DisneyMay2010030.jpg

I love walking through there. Back past TSM, still 45 minutes. So I headed back to Back Lot Tour.
DisneyMay2010033.jpg

While on the tour I saw this. Looks like a private party.

By now it was after 7:00 and into the EMH. I headed straight for TSM thinking the wait would have gone down. Nope. 65 minutes.

Okay off to Great Movie Ride. Love it and the CMs were especially good this time.
DisneyMay2010034.jpg

Back to TSM, still 65 minutes. Not good as I am feeling bad again. I walked around the Streets a bit and then decided to head out. I window shopped for a few minutes and headed for the bus. HS has all three All Stars at one stop and of course there was a long line, but a bus was there. Behind us there were about thirty buses staged up.
DisneyMay2010035.jpg

I understand staggering the buses, but by the time, about 15 minutes, another bus pulled up for us the line was back past the next bus stop. Not sure why they let our stop get so full. Crowded bus back, but the trip was short. A bit of dinner and a bath and I was ready for bed.

Sending a gentle  your way, my friend. I'm glad that you're finishing your trip report. :goodvibes I'm looking forward to hearing all about your trip!

A snake?!?!?! I don't think I'd stick around to find out if it was alive or not either. ;)

Sorry you didn't get to ride TSM. I hope you got another chance later on in your trip!:wizard:

7:30am……:scared1: I over slept. :lmao: How’s that to start the day? I quickly got ready and out the door. I had planned to be to the convention center with plenty of time to find my first session and leisurely settle in. Not happening today. As I was walking from the parking lot to the CC one of my co-workers called. He was coming in from Cape Canaveral and wanted to meet for dinner. We made tentative plans as I was rushing inside. I arrived to my first session just as they were closing the door. Thankfully the room wasn’t full. I was skeptical of this training at first, but I am so glad I went. I really learned a lot. Things that no one had ever told me and plenty of places to research questions and problems. :thumbsup2

For lunch, I ate of one of the stands at the CC. You think Disney is expenses? I wish I had taken a picture of my lunch. A ham and cheese roll and a drink for $10. I kid you not. I had two afternoon sessions which both went quite well.

After I found my car, (it was right where I had left it;)) I called my co-worker to see if he was willing for an early dinner. The World was in the opposite direction of where he was, so I figured it would just be a waste of time to go back to my resort and then back to his. He was ready so I set off to find him.

Problem: he didn’t know where he was other than by the airport. I had a map and he asked for better directions at the desk. I found him with minimal problems and we had a wonderful dinner. Talked mostly work, but it was okay. I was starving and that was one of the best TGI Friday dinners I have ever had.

After dinner I took him back to his hotel, and realized that it was still rather early. I could still do a couple hours at MK.:banana::banana:

After I found my car, (it was right where I had left it;))

:lmao: That cracked me up this morning, Lisa! Thanks for the laugh!

I can't believe it was $10 for a ham and cheese roll and a drink!

I can't wait to hear about the MK!

Yes, would you believe that I was worried I wouldn't be able to find my car, that I wouldn't remember what it looked like being a rental? :sad2: This was the first time I had ever rented a car and I was a little paranoid about it.

Lisa, I found it!

Ahh, a solo trip to WDW, I'll just have to live through you until I can figure out one for myself!

A very dear friend (DD's dance teacher) and her family were killed in a horrific traffic accident that morning. I was devastated. :sad1:

I'm so sorry to hear that. :sad2: My thoughts are with you and the rest of their family.

The wait time said 13 minutes. 13 minutes? Try none. Walked right in.

It always says 13 minutes (keyword: 13) It never changes on that particular sign.

And I don't see any pictures. :confused3

If it makes you feel better, I returned from Vegas last night. (Need I say more?) $9.00 for a Starbucks tall latte and a muffin. $3.00 more than what I pay here in Texas for the same items. Really, is a small coffee and muffin worth $9.00?!? :scared:

does anyone know how to get pics off of the camera after you have downloaded? I'm having trouble. I had downloaded all of my pics right before DH dropped my laptop. For some reason everything I had done the week before the fatal accident was lost for good. Everything else was retrievable. I'm still working on pictures.

But now that Dolce has joined us again.........
