Finally! My Very First Solo Trip - Pictures have been added!!!

DOAS - I'm not going to get to see her. :sad2: She and Pat (her DBF) are heading back North the week before I head south. I am a little bummed about that. She is one of those Aunts that everyone just loves. The DO part came from my DH's college graduation party. She stood at the door way welcoming and directing people and every time a fireman came through the door, she would say "All fire hoses have to be checked with me" :lmao: It's how she said it and acted (all serious) Guess you had to be there.

The more I think about EE, the more I think I might try it by myself. :upsidedow

There's a Singles Line for EE. You know where it is - right? Since Disney doesn't really let you ride "alone" anymore - you can meet really interesting people this way. I just don't advise that you jump into some strangers lap if the ride terrifies you ... unless it's a really hot guy that you're seated next to and you want a ride pic to flaunt in your hubby's face on occasion. ;)

Yeah, right.....ummm, NO.........not if I ever want to go by myself again......although in January this really cute guy tried to pick me up on BTMRR;)

I always ask for the back and when I walked back there to wait my turn this guy was sitting on the back row by himself. He asks "are you single?" and then proceeded to offer to share the back seat with me so I didn't have to wait for the next train. All of 9 years old and he stole my heart. One of the most fun rides I have on there since last year. Just don't let DS know. Don't want him to get jeolous. :goodvibes

I'm subscribing to this one :goodvibes

I'm currently considering a week long stay at the Pop in late August to see my DGF and some friends who are doing the International College Program this summer. I've never been away on my own before but I figure Disney is the best place to start! No-one else can afford to go with me so I don't have much choice, and I'm a little scared about the solo aspect, but I hope that hearing about others' solo experiences will make me feel a lot better about it!

I love your plans so far :thumbsup2

:wave2: Thanks for joining in. Disney is a great place to go solo, so many people do it. Just think of all the pluses. You come and go as you want, see what you want w/o any one else saying "Naw, I don't want to do that", you eat what and when you want. There are also single rider lines and when you are in line, just say hello to the person next to you. I think you see a lot more by yourself also as you aren't concentrating on what is around you instead of the person/people you are with.

PS - when I saw on the list of threads that you were the last poster, I thought "I didn't know that my supervisor was on the Dis. Man, I'm busted for sure.":rotfl2: He has the same last name as you. But he is fully aware of my plans......he's a great supervisor. :thumbsup2

Hey there!! How exciting... your first solo trip! I went solo for the first time in October 2008. Don't listen to anyone who doesn't *get* it - I had an AMAZING time! Yes, I did miss my family and friends. There is a certain amount of magic that you bring with you to Disney, but it's also just so much fun to be able to do WHAT you want, WHEN you want! You are going to have a great time!!

I love All Star Music. Pop is my favorite Value resort though, I like everything at Pop better except for the inside of the rooms themselves. I think the rooms at Music are cuter. I stayed on the front side the Calypso building and experienced no noise at night, just a tip in case you end up there! :thumbsup2

Oh man Dolce....... :sad2:

Teasing you! :goodvibes.... I'm just (impatiently) waiting for January. :fish:
Be certain to eat lots of food for me while there - 'k? I keep looking at the food porn threads and January just can't get here fast enough.

food porn....that's what I need....some good food porn. I need to go find that thread......

Woo-hoo! I finally found that thread!

I couldn't find it earlier today. :confused3 Are you planning to eat at any of the restaurants - did you already cover this? I'll be honest: my brain is currently fried and the only thing I remember is: you're staying at All Stars Music. :thumbsup2

I know that in January I plan to go back to Flying Fish and I also plan to eat at the California Grill with my mother one night as I've never eaten there before but have always wanted to try it.

She plans to come down the night before the marathon to watch me run again (same as she did this past January)- hopefully this time she'll actually pay attention as I cross the Finish Line. Did I tell you about that? I texted her in EPCOT to give her the heads-up that I was in mile 26 and would be crossing soon. I finish, get my medal, ect... ect... and I can't find her anywhere. I call her and ask where she is and her response: she was still in the bleachers waiting for me to cross the Finish Line. :sad2:

Sounds like a terrific plan except I'd have to add EE about six times in order to go back home happy. :dance3: :upsidedow

I agree wholeheartedly :thumbsup2 Gotta LOVE that single rider line :cool1:

Sorry to hear about DOAS :sad2: On the Bright side I guess this means you have another evening to plan something special for yourself! Maybe some shopping at DTD or dare I suggest La Nouba as a way to cheer yourself up over not getting to see your aunt :goodvibes

I'm still debating about food. I want to eat at some TS, but when I am alone, I'm a grab and go kind of person and there are lots of CS I have never eaten at that I want to try. I keep wavering. Of course, now that DH is leaving bright and early the day after I arrive home (on Mother's Day no less) and now just tells me he is going to be gone the entire week instead of just 4 days, I may change my mind and really treat myself. :rolleyes1

WOW! you never told us that about your Mom. She really didn't see you cross with Mickey and all????? WOW! Guess she will have to go again next year and have a do over. Perhaps if (we will) all get together for dinner again, she can come also. :goodvibes

I plan to make lots of use with single rider lines. Wonder which rides have them? I have never paid attention to that before. :confused3

You know I thought the same thing. Sad I wouldn't get to see DOAS, but there are lots of things for me to do to console myself. Shopping..... now there's a thought. I don't have DTD in my original itinerary. :thumbsup2

The ones that I can remember off the top of my head are EE, Test Track, Rock N Roller coaster, I think for awhile Toy Story Mania has one but sometimes it is closed, Space Mountain.

Nope, she didn't! :lmao: I woke her up before I left that morning to say "This is what you should see me cross the Finish Line in" (white running zip-up jacket... I already knew that it was going to be too cold that day to remove that and go down to my wicking t-shirt) Unfortunately, I was holding the black sweat shirt type material zip-up throw-away (purchased at Wal-Mart) in my hand when I told her this and put that on as she watched.

She was waiting for someone in all black to cross the Finish Line - not someone in white. :teeth:

I do hope that we can all get together again for a dinner. I had so much fun last January.
