My dear hubby (who is wonderful in every other way) has never been a huge Disney fan. When he was a child, his parents were the "host" family in Florida when all the extended family visited from Minnesota-they went to WDW 6-7 times a year for several yrs in a row. After convincing him to go back and see how it has changed (since the early eighties :rotfl: ) I thought he would be willing to go often since he really seemed to enjoy it. Nope, he still didn't want to talk about planning future trips, didn't want to do more than a weekend here and there and said it would be ok to go every other year or so.... :sad2: Keep in mind we live 2 hrs north of the World. Well, my strategy was to not force it down his throat but to keep the subject alive still. I'll casually mention WDW every now and then, pause for a moment on the Travel Channel WDW specials, it also helps that the boys talk about our last trip at least once a week. I think the new "Year of a Million Dreams" commercials are also getting to him because last night he confessed to me that he'd had a dream about WDW the previous night.:goodvibes: Of course I just non‧chalantly resonded "Oh? Was it a pleasant dream or a nightmare?" He said it had been a fun dream about our family running around at WDW :cool1: This may seem like a tiny thing to a lot of folks who already have dh's that are hooked, but that night for the 1st time ever we sat down together and started planning our next big trip to WDW for January 2008. I know that's a long time from now but I chose the date since it will be near my ds's bday and my baby dd will be a year and a half by then- so all is cool. Also, dh said we could buy seasonal passes so we can go for some weekend trips too :cloud9: and we can try the Polynesian this time :bitelip: both his ideas. That really astounds me because I've never expressed interest in staying at the Poly but of course I'd like to try it! Anyway, it was hard work getting this far- been working on him for almost 5 years but I think it's paying off! Thanks for letting me share :thumbsup2

Oh how I wish you extra pixie dust it ....I think we may be mentally connected along with julsmom have you noticed we all keep viewing and posting on the same threads......Maybe we are each others personal Mickey support team... I'm here for ya guys......Here's the extra pixie dust..... pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: :flower1: :rose:

Mine is finally coming around also! We will be going this weekend for the F&W festival. I told him about the YOAMD starting on Sunday. He said, lets not rush home. Let's stick around and see what's going on. I'm SOOOOOO excited!!!!

Oh thank you! So nice to have people who understand me! :grouphug: Seriously, these boards are the only thing that keep me from driving my family  as well. Of course, as the time for our trip draws near, I'm sure it (the DIS) will be less effective. :teeth:

I think mine might be coming around too. He didn't want to go back to Disney for vacation next year so we compromised and settled on a Disney cruise. Our cruise that we are looking at leaves Sept 27th next year and DH said last night he was ready to start packing for the cruise already. :rotfl: OK so it's not WDW but it's the next best thing in my eyes. DS on the other hand is so much like his mommy. He wants season passes to WDW rather than Dollywood next year (we are only about 2 hours away from Dollywood and go frequently).

I feel your pain. My DH secretly loves Disney I know but, he asks like he is too cool to talk about it to me. He always tells others how awesome it is and how it compares to nothing else but, I end up making all the plans for our trips. Don't get me wrong, I love that part as much as any but, I would LOVE it if we would participate in the planning!

I am :rotfl2: because I will have to really watch that commercial again- DH said the same thing after watching- "I think we need to head back soon." Now this is the man that said after our July trip "that was great but let's wait a few years for the next one" So I am thinking there must be some subliminal man-hook in that commercial that I missed. Like maybe "free beer" being played over an over very quietly in the commercial.....
Oh and I have told the story of my disney dream man- he is married to my friend. When we were over for dinner and DH was making fun of my obsession- this guy disappears- and then reappears with a scrapbook of their trip! That he had made! He had typed itineraries for everyone. Every minute planned out- matching outfits! LOL all that he had planned. I asked him to marry me right there in front of his wife and my husband.

 Okay now, we might have to fight it out for this man!! Can I at least have his phone #? I bet it was fun having that "See- I'm not the only one" moment in front of your DH.
Seriously, this was how my Dad was when we were kids- at Disney or anywhere else for that matter. We used to make fun of him for it- we called him "The Planner" and "Clark Griswold" :rotfl2: As soon as we stepped into the park (or wherever we were going that trip) my sister and I would mockingly say "Let's check the Plan!" It was mortifying when we were kids and we just wanted to run around to the different mountains at WDW all day. But now, it's a whole different story. I'd LOVE it if dh would "make a plan" and if he agreed to matching t-shirts and helped do a scrapbook- well,I don't think I'd be able to enjoy it for long because I'd probably just die!
Oh, and I agree about the commercial. We can hope they are just catching on to the magic and dreaming about floating around on happy clouds and dancing on rainbows at WDW with their families- but most likely there are subliminal beer messages going on. Hey, if Disney figured out that's what it takes, more power to them!! That was actually one of my strategies- remember the Food and Wine Fest- well, it has beer too! Food, beer, wine- to my dh- that is the Happiest Place on Earth no matter where it is!

Can your husband talk to my husband about Disney??? :rotfl: :rotfl: I still have not gotten my husband to enjoy Disney. He is so ANTI-Disney it is not even funny! Doesn't stop me and the kids though! We are planning a mother/son trip in October 2007 whether he goes or not!!! :Pinkbounc
