My dear hubby (who is wonderful in every other way) has never been a huge Disney fan. When he was a child, his parents were the "host" family in Florida when all the extended family visited from Minnesota-they went to WDW 6-7 times a year for several yrs in a row. After convincing him to go back and see how it has changed (since the early eighties
) I thought he would be willing to go often since he really seemed to enjoy it. Nope, he still didn't want to talk about planning future trips, didn't want to do more than a weekend here and there and said it would be ok to go every other year or so....
Keep in mind we live 2 hrs north of the World. Well, my strategy was to not force it down his throat but to keep the subject alive still. I'll casually mention WDW every now and then, pause for a moment on the Travel Channel WDW specials, it also helps that the boys talk about our last trip at least once a week. I think the new "Year of a Million Dreams" commercials are also getting to him because last night he confessed to me that he'd had a dream about WDW the previous night.
: Of course I just non‧chalantly resonded "Oh? Was it a pleasant dream or a nightmare?" He said it had been a fun dream about our family running around at WDW
This may seem like a tiny thing to a lot of folks who already have dh's that are hooked, but that night for the 1st time ever we sat down together and started planning our next big trip to WDW for January 2008. I know that's a long time from now but I chose the date since it will be near my ds's bday and my baby dd will be a year and a half by then- so all is cool. Also, dh said we could buy seasonal passes so we can go for some weekend trips too
and we can try the Polynesian this time
both his ideas. That really astounds me because I've never expressed interest in staying at the Poly but of course I'd like to try it! Anyway, it was hard work getting this far- been working on him for almost 5 years but I think it's paying off! Thanks for letting me share
