We go to WDW every year and stay for 2 weeks. We love the idea of being close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We would like our home resort to be BCV or BWV.
What are the pros and cons of both? We would probably be using our pts for a studio as we are a family of 3.
I don't think we could go wrong with either resort. We usually go on vacation Oct, Nov or Jan, Feb.

You wiil need to own at either bcv or bwv for oct/nov because of food and wine

In January/February, there is less competition for room, and I've seen bcv studios available sometimes, and bwv pool/garden (not sure about std or BW view rooms) definitely can be had at the 7 mo mark.

BCV:
Pros:
-access to storm along bay
-Closest to Epcot
-Small so hard to get rooms there at 7mo
-atmosphere

Cons:
-more expensive than bwv on resale market
-no standard room category
-no views

Boardwalk:
Pros:
- close to both Hollywood and Epcot
- standard room category and bwv category (still competitive to get even as an owner)
- bw view category so can see fireworks and lake from room
- substantially less $$ on the resale market

Cons:
- no access to storm along bay
- pool/garden category oftentimes available at the 7mo mark bc there are so many more rooms

Depends on what you want :) . We like to save money so we went with bwv.

Suebeelin gave an excellent comparison.

We just purchased resale and we ended up going with BCV. My DH loves the Beach Club, so that is what we went with.

Like you said, I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. I like that BWV gives you more room category options, so if you book standard you points can go farther and they are cheaper to begin with.

They are similar in many ways, quite different in others. Ignoring the slight differences in distance to each park and nuances of feel, it comes down to cost and resort amenities. BWV will be cheaper to buy and has the standard view option. BCV has SAB. BCV is also much smaller so it may be more difficult to get a villa, esp for studios. IMO, if you're not set on BCV for some reason I'd go with BWV.

All BWs two bedrooms are lockoffs. BC has some lockoffs and some dedicated.

BW has Grand Villas, BC does not.

BW has Boardwalk View - so for the same number of points as you might get a road view at BC, you know you'll overlook the Boardwalk.

If you buy BWV, make sure you have points enough for Garden/boardwalk view. standard can be very competitive and you will want to have points enough for the more expensive view.

I suggest that you continue to collect the facts and numbers on both resorts and rent 2 reservations for your next vacation, half the time at BWV and half the time at BCV. That should give you what you need to decide on your home resort.

Since you vacation every year at WDW, where do you stay now?

Both BCV and BWV have end dates of 2042. There are other resorts with longer contracts. It looks like you often stay at CBR or POR. If SSR would be good for Oct/Nov you still might trade elsewhere and for Jan/Feb trips you'll very likely be able to trade to BWV and BCV if you are just looking at them as resorts you'd like to stay at sometimes.

My vote? Buy both! Do a split stay with 1 week at BCV and 1 week at BWV. If you wanted to stay the full 2 weeks at one place you could bank/borrow one year.

Given one of the main benefits of BCV is the pool, how much are you going to use it in Oct, Nov, Jan or Feb? If not very much, then buy BWV.

One minor benefit that hasn't been mentioned is that at BCV you can walk under cover from the villas all the way to any of the restaurants at the BC/YC which is kind of nice when it is pouring rain outside.

October is still a pretty good pool month! January and February, less so.
