FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

Oh, dear DIS friends, I'm sorry I've been neglecting you! We fell all the way down to page 3! It's been a loooong week here at Casa Crystal!

It's okay, it happens to the best of us! :goodvibes

The rest of the week has been crazy! It started with me making my car payment online, but instead of it going through once, it went through THREE times, sending my bank account plummeting into the red, and causing a few overdraft fees. Grr! I'm STILL working on getting that straightened back out!

Sounds like a nightmare! Hope you get it figured out! :teacher:

Then, my beloved kitty Tallulah got sick on Monday!

Poor baby! Glad she is feeling better. :flower3:

In actual Disneyween related news- Going by rumors and past dates, I'm expecting AP rates for October to come out within the next 2 weeks! That means we really need to buckle down and figure out where the heck we want to stay! I got a chance to talk to Kelly about it last night, but we still haven't been able to come to many conclusions.

I am on the edge of my seat, like you. I am trying to plan for early December. I was thinking of going ahead and booking and then applying the AP rate later, b/c I was worried about resorts being booked up. And I was right to worry. We wanted to stay at the WL and all the standard views and woods views are booked. All they had for early Dec is a courtyard view with bunk beds! So we may have to switch to POFQ. I will probably book both ressies and then drop one once AP rates come out and I see what I can afford.

The problem is that this is her first year teaching at a new school, so she's unsure how many days she'll be able to get off. She's thinking that she may have to leave on the 26th after school (A Friday), stay at WDW Sat, Sun, and Mon, and head home on Tuesday the 30th. Anyone familiar with Disney Math knows that's only 3 real park days, aka about 3 days too few! Plus, it means she would miss going to the Adv Club in costume on the 31st! I'm really hoping she can get at least a couple of extra days, so that she could go home on the 1st (Thursday), and therefore get to stay for Halloween!

I am in the same boat. Being a teacher anyways, you don't get any vacation time...just usually around 12 to 13 sick days, 3 of which can be used a personal days. They consider the summer our vacation! The gall of them...lol. In addition, I, like Kelly, am starting at a new school in a new district this year. So I usually go over the weekend and take two days max off from work, giving me three full park days and then two travel days (I drive cuz I am in GA). If I end up doing the Oct and Dec trips this year, I will actually have to call in sick for one of the trips cuz we only get 3 personal days and with my plan I need 2 days off for each trip. Anyway, I sympathize cuz I am in the exact situation! :sad2:

As a result, in order to deal with my crazy needs to plan, I'm going to draw up plans for if we have 3 days, 4 days, etc.

I'm thinking that if we only have a few days, the WL is going to be the most convenient place to stay. It would make it much easier to o tea and MNSSHP on the same day, for instance, since both of those activities are close to the WL, and would mean a fairly short transportation time getting back and forth. (I'm not sure that 2 hours is enough for me to transform from mere mortal into Pirate Extraordinaire!)

You may want to go ahead and call and check availability, cuz, like I said, there isn't much left for WL in early December already! And if there is not much availability, there may not be AP rates for it either. :(

And I'm banned from posting new threads there because I committed the dark, unspeakable sin of putting a smiley after the word "bump".)

Huh? What? What is that all about?

BTW, sorry I kind of hijacked your TR here.:scared:

Crystal,

Don't you like Crocs? Well I just noticed on the site they have a new style, the Alice (a slimmer Mary Jane). I wonder how those are. I just bought my first pair of Crocs, the Cleo, on Monday and I love them!

Also, I think they took the Niles off the market cuz I can't find them on the site anymore. I heard they weren't too good though.

Anyway, sorry to hijack once again, but I thought I'd share.

The rule on the board is that you have to bump your post every so often to keep it from being closed, but I missed the bit in the "READ ME!" that says that you can't put anything BUT the word Bump, or the computer won't recognize it. If you do, your thread is locked. 2 locked threads = not being able to post any new threads on that board. Learn from my mistakes, all! Smileys will betray you! :rotfl:

And you didn't hijack, you commandeered! Nautical term. pirate:

Oooh, I hadn't heard about these! I don't see them on the Crocs site yet, though.

I really need to shoe shop, SOON! I'm hoping the Crocs store here opens soon!

Oops, I take that back- they ARE on the website! Very cute! I wonder how they would look on my Giant Feet?

Yes, I am wondering the same about my feet. I only have the one pair, the Cleo's. And I want another pair of those (different color). And maybe a pair of the Patras. The Mary Janes are okay as far as looks but I heard they feel real good. I love the Skechers Bikerz which is a Mary Jane style shoe and looks like the Alice, so I am really thinking I need to find those out somewhere and try them on! :)

What kinds do you have and would you recommend?

Commandeered, huh? I'll have to remember that! :)

Hey Crystal- I thought of you yesterday! We went to Target shopping and in their dollar bins there was tons of POTC stuff! If you have a Target nearby you should check it out! I bought a little notepad/pencil/eraser set for a buck to use as my TR notepad on our upcoming trip. They also had stickers and journals and a few other things! Just thought you might wanna know!!!

How's the planning coming anyway?

Wow! I suppose after last night and this morning - reading all 21 pages of this report - I'll have to say...

I'M IN! :thumbsup2

Sounds like it's going to be a great trip!

Crystal - I broke down and bought a pair of the Ithaca Croc flip-flops and I have to say......

I LOVE THEM.

I mean, I really really REALLY liked the Cleos. But the Ithaca are like Heaven!

I'm going to have to subscribe! You like POTC and Harry Potter and we have twin-look-a-like kitties!pirate:

Is Tallulah feeling better? I hope so.

I'll be keeping an eye on this pre-trip report, but for now I need to catch up on all 21 pages of it! lol!

Today was shopping day!

My first stop was the new Crocs store, only to find they aren’t open yet  The sign said opening soon- how soon? I’m on a deadline here, people! I really hope they open within the next month so that I can have plenty of time to break all my new shoes in! I know that I want the pink and chocolate Capris, the blue and black Capris. And a pair of black Sassaris for PI. Maybe a pair of black Ithicas to replace my wearing out black Athens? And the charcoal/cotton candy Athens? And the new Alice ones in every single color?

Stop #2 was target- some of you awesome readers have told me they had Pirate stuff in the dollar spot- they did!

I have no idea how I will use any of these things, but they are fun to look at!!

The dollar spot also had Harry Potter items- I’m the proud owner of a Hogwarts water bottle, ad some Gryffindor markers, among other items! (I also stocked up on Method cleaning products, which I never knew Target carried! The packaging is cute, they smell SO good, and they’re good for the environment!)

Another awesome dollar spot find- mini packs of pens & hilighters!

These will be PERFECT to carry around to use in our autograph book! They're only about 3 inches long, so they won't take up any room at all!

And now, apropos of nothing, here is Snape and his Mickey balloon.

I think this is his way of showing he's excited, too.

Crystal,

I love reading about all your plans and about all things you have bought and made for your trip. You sound like a lot of fun to travel with.

:rotfl: How many pairs of Crocs are you going to have after all your purchases?

Once again I have to say how much I love Snape. I think it is hilarious that he now has his own Mickey balloon!:lmao:

Um, do you have stock in Crocs? You may want to consider... :rolleyes1 ;)

Crystal!!!!!

I found this website of t-shirts and I thought that you would find it HILARIOUS!

Here is one of them:

You have got to check it out!

80 days for me too!!!!!

I was just going through a bunch of old pictures of mine and found my old iZone camera. It's not the kind you have, but it's the original version. Anyways, I will never use that thing again, so if you want it, I can send it to you. If you would like it, then PM me your address.

Oh, and I don't know how to PM, so you'll just have to explain that to me!

hahaha, I can't wait to see your pictures of Snape. In front of the castle, looking bored and unenuthused, (did I even spell that right? oh well!) very true to his character. Too bad Alan Rickman won't come along, THOSE pictures would have been even better!

78 days to go!

This is sort of trip report related, sort of not:

I mentioned back at the start of my pre-trip (You know, back in 1937...) that I was considering moving to FL for the winter. I haven't put much thought into it lately, because I've had so much else going on, but I've been really thinking about it the past few days. I've been looking online for places to live, which is SCARY! I was at work last night, looking at apartments online, and found one that said it was right next to MK CM parking-awesome, right? Awesome, until I checked out the online reviews, and one said "I moved away from here after the drug-related mass murder". Um, okay, I think I can check that one off the list! :rotfl2:

So, my plan for now is to put together a list of places that I want to check out, and then set aside a few hours when I'm there in Oct (thus making this TR related!) to go check a few out.

Since you are all such a knowledgable bunch, can anyone recommend places where:
a) Rent isn't one billion dollars
b) The drive to WDW is less than 40 mins
c) I won't be killed :thumbsup2

Tips for driving across the country with a 25lb cat who hates the car are also welcome!

Also trip report related, I'm hoping to stop by the casting center on my Disneyween trip, just go get an idea of what's available, given that I'm only planning to stay 3-4 months. If nothing else, it will be an experience!

In other somewhat trip-related news, I FINALLY got new allergy medicine today, so hopefully my ear problem will be better soon, and I'll be able to work more! (Which means more $ for Disney!) Given that I have less than 3 months till the trip, I'm pretty worried about the money issue! In the past 2 months, my computer broke, my car broke, and my cat broke! (Resulting in a new hard drive, a towing and mechanic bill, and a vet bill and lots of petting for the kitty! She's doing a LOT better, btw- thanks to those who asked! :flower3: )

Am I the only one who feels like for every item I scratch off my to-do list, I add five more?

I really wish AP discounts would come out, so I'd have REAL news to share!
