Not that I'm surprised, but I am sad. NBC has announced that this is the last season, and that the series finale will air on May 14th.

Yahoo article here

The last couple of years certainly weren't as good as the first 4 seasons when Aaron Sorkin wrote the scripts, but still...it's the best thing on tv! JMHO. I hope they give the viewers a decent wrap up to everything (such as a fitting tribute to John Spencer, and Josh and Donna finally getting a clue would be nice. :))

My stepdad will have to find another show to watch :cool1: Finally

I am sorry for most of the fans. However, I cannot stand the show, and having to tolerate it at home is less fun than the root canal I had a year ago

Wow...such high praise. ;) I have some friends that can't stand it either. But it always clicked with me...but I live, eat, and breathe anything political, so maybe that explains it. I just find most of the stuff on TV (with the exception of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report) to be dumb, mindless drivel. I can't stand reality TV... me watching THAT would be worse than a root canal.

:thumbsup2

I'll miss the show.

But am I the only one that thinks Josh and Donna should NOT get together? :confused3

Yep, you're the only one.

Just kidding!!!! :rotfl:

They seem perfect for each other, but then again, I'm a hopeless romantic.

What a country! Another very well written, intelligent show, gets the ax while we continue to be able to watch people eat bugs, insult each other, have sex, and obnoxious cartoon characters.

Think it's bad now, imagine what the next twenty years will bring.

My baby is going to be soooo sad!!! Thats his favorite show!!!!
:(

I enjoyed the show and like watching the previous episodes on Bravo. It's sad, but it's also time. This year the ratings declined along with the plots. Time to wrap things up.

Yes!!! They should get together. I think they make a cute couple. And they can't leave us hanging with that after 7 years.

I love this show and I'm sorry to see it go, I only hope that Matt Santos wins the election. I love Jimmy Smits :lovestruc he is one SEXY man.

I am disappointed, but not surprised. I too think Josh and Donna should get together, it's about time. Remember the inaugural episode when they went to her apartment to get her. She had to sit on Josh's lap as there was no more room in the car. UGh, what a tease that was, I thought for sure they would get together.

I know!! The show's producers justified dragging out their relationship because they didn't want to lose the banter and tension between those two. C'mon...no reason now to drag it out any further.

ITA :) :) Better to go out on your own terms and wrap things up than get cancelled mid-season and leave things hanging, IMO.

Since NBC CANCELLED the show, I'm not sure that's going out on your own terms, but it is a heck of a lot better than an abrupt midseason ending.

And I aree totally with DKH01701. The amazing thing, however, is that it lasted as long as it did when you consider what some of our fellow citizens consider entertainment. :confused3

What's also amazing is that it lasted as long as it did despite NBC doing almost no advertising of any kind for the show week to week. I read that the West Wing had the highest income viewership of any show on TV, yet almost no consistent advertising. (Come to think of it, maybe the high income viewers weren't watching the other cr*p on TV to catch any previews, anyway.) The live debate episode got higher ratings this season than the season premiere, but in a rare exception, that episode was advertised very well. And I think the live debate episode was only marginal. The regular story lines, the acting, the drama, are sooo much better!

It's little wonder why NBC's overall ratings are terrible.

Despite all of that, I'm so mixed over seeing the show end. On one hand, it is time to wrap things up. On the other hand, I'd rather see TWW than people eating bugs, insult each other, etc. You know, what DKH01701 said. ;)
