Last night I purchased a Minolta Rokkor 50mm f1.4 and with it came a Minolta SRT102. I know the camera has a light meter but I'm wondering how to read over and under exposure. I'm used to digital with the numbers and dashes. I know you can't underpose and use fill in LR :) ! I just thought I would play with it since it came with the lens.

You should do a google search for the manual - I know several turned up when I tried it. This is a link to the page describing the exposure meter and how it works. Have fun with your "new" camera!

Don't you just hate it when you accidentally buy a camera????? ;):rotfl:

Have fun playing!

Yes, it's terrible:) I read the manual and it explains to match up the lines to make a proper exposure, but it doesn't explain anything about +-EV stops. Is it mostly trial and error because it's not like digital (cheap to erase photos). I guess I'll have to get some 35mm film and test it out.

My first SLR was a Minolta SRT 201.....

Are you referring to the 'match needle' exposure meter?

You look inside the view finder and there is a needle that moves up and down depending on the amount of light. The needle should move higher with the more light it sees.

Then you have a circle that you can move up and down by changing either the aperture or shutter or both.

Is that the system you are referring to?
