I am trying to figure out how many people would actually attend my DW, is there a polite way of asking people without them feeling guilty for not being able to go? Should i send out inquiries before the invitations go out?

thanks in advance! princess:

We sent our invitations early and requested that people reply by Sept 22 (our wedding is nov 9). That gave us a lot of time to figure out who was coming and who was not...except for those who have STILL not replied. If you and most of your guests are from out of town, you can use your room block as the guide. Just call the 800# periodically and ask them to e-mail you a list of the names of those who have booked their room.

We also set up a wedding website, not a Disney site, that we e-mailed our guests (and included the link on the save the date...Disney will add your link to their save the date if you ask them to). On the website we had a place for people to "rsvp" not officially, but just to give us an idea. Of course, not everyone utilized the website, but it still gave us a pretty good idea.

We invited 160 and 80 are coming. My general thought - if people are avoiding you, they are probably not planning to come and they want to avoid telling you this!!! Hope this helps!!

We sent save the dates prior to Disney's STD's. They had a post card attached that they could check off, yes we will, no we won't or unsure. That helped us ALOT.

We invited 48, 35 came.

We invited 200 Aprox 110 are coming.
I was lame though and sent my invites out later than i had hoped for (due to fact DF was slow to getting his guest list together and then my having to work alot).
SO yeah About Half for me are coming.

My guests recieved their Save the Dates last week. Most people either called or emailed me to let me know they got them. If I did not hear from them I touched base with them and casually asked if they thought thet would be able to make it. I found out that more people are attending then I originally thought.

I did save the dates also which was a pretty good indicator of how many guests were coming!

We did a tentative RSVP card with our newsletters. We got a lot of response except from my lazy friends...anyways, we invited 140 people and right now, 77 say they are coming. We just put:
probably
probably not
_How many people will be attending

It seemed to work well. We sent them out through both email and regular post. I seemed to get more of a response out of the people I sent through email!

Good Luck, I know I wanted to know how many people were going to come so I could budget accordingly.!

I actually called people. When I was trying to decide if I could even have a Disney wedding, I just called people up and told them I was getting married. Then I said I wanted to have my wedding at Walt Disney World and they were like, wow, and then I said, this is a little early, I know, but I need to know an idea of the people that would be able to go so that I can decide what type of Disney Wedding I was going to have. I told them to get back to me with a firm yes or no answer within a couple of days. I am now sending out Save-The-Dates to the ones that said they can make it and I am sending out announcements to everyone else! More than likely, we're going to end up having some kind of party for the ones that can't make it! And although it wasn't probably at all formal, I did get my asnwer right away, people actually let me know within 3 days of talking to them, and most of them were gonna come. Now since then a few have dropped off, but that's expected. But it gave me a really good idea of who and how many people were actually going to come. Well, I don't know if you want to use my tactic but it worked well for me. Good luck with whatever you decide! :sunny:

I included a tentative response post card in my save the date/engagement announcements. I made it clear this was just to get an idea of how many guests we'll have so we can make sure there are enough rooms at the discounted rate. I also had them check off whether or not they want me to have Disney contact them with the discount info (so most people are returning the cards because they think they won't be eligible for the discount otherwise). ;)

My choices were:

Yes! I'm putting on my mouse ears from now.
Perhaps. I'll have my people call your people.
Regrets, but send me a postcard & say hello to the Mouse for me.

One word of advice if you go the postcard route - have a system for marking your cards so you know who is returning them to you. I have a big space for people to fill in their name on mine and we are still getting a lot of blanks back (thankfully DF's side is doing it just as much as my side is, lol).

We sent out newsletters before the Disney STDs went out. We didn't ask for a response, but got a pile of them anyway. People were happy to call and tell us they were planning on coming. Expect more than half of your guest list to come. WE orginally thought about 50 out of the 100 we invited would come... after the save the dates went out, almost 75 said yes... and now we are having to wait till the last minute to see if we can still afford all those... :confused3
