figmentfan814AAR~LivingSeas~French Is. *I'm back and married! Will start TR soon!*

Thats such a great idea! I signed up for shutterfly a few months ago and I get emails all the time for free prints, but nothing as good as a free book! I figured I'd make our parents some "albums" there instead of buying them for $295 from Disney. It's practically the same thing but for $200 less!

That's a great idea to make the albums as gifts after the wedding :)

They're having a contest right now and I just one another free book the other day. You might want to check it out http://shutterfly.eprize.net/fall2007/

I just love this idea and i didn't realize you could add writing to the book. I do have a questions though - what type of pages are in the book. I was thinking about this but figured if the pages were glossy when you wrote on them the ink would smudge. Are you using a special type of pen?

I was also thinking of using this for a parent album - and maybe one for each of my bridesmaids also. They are so great it make you want to make one for everybody.

Thanks,
Linda

Thanks for the link! I played all 3 of my email addresses and won a calendar, collage poster and an 8x8 book :)

Is your book 8x8? Or 12x12?

Btw... Shutterfly's marketing tactics are fantastic, and I have a BS in Marketing so i'm usually very critical!! I'm definitely more likely to get my regular prints done there if they keep sending me free stuff!!

I'm sorry I completely missed your post :guilty: My book is an 8x8. I agree about their marketing tactics, my B.A. is in communication with a public relations focus and they are great at what they do to get new customers.

I'm not sure where in Zehnder's it'll be, my sister and my cousin are the masterminds behind it:)

I live in South Florida, but I was born and raised in Farmington Hills. My parents and all of my family still live in the Detroit area, so I go up several times a year to visit. Frankenmuth is about a 45min drive from my parents house, but DF is obsessed with the Family Style chicken meal... so we go every time we're in town!

I'm a little late on this one, but I'm from Farmington Hills too! Except I relocated to the equally cold city of Chicago, not quite South Florida :confused3

Man, you guys have got me craving some Frankenmuth chicken BIG TIME over here. :sad2:

It's good to hear from another Michigan girl! My other favorite thing about Frankenmuth is going to see the lights at Bronner's in the evening during the Christmas season.

A few exciting thngs have happened in the last couple of days. I booked dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table for the night after our wedding. Even though we're spending the time at Disney with our family before Hawaii I wanted to have something special with the two of us. It's the night before our Magic Kingdom photo shoot too.

We ordered Kris' wedding ring online and it came in too. He won't be up until next week to try it on. I was hoping that it wouldn't have such a matte finish, but he likes it, so that's the main thing. We both really liked the comfort fit style.

I asked my younger cousin to be in the wedding this week. My cousin will do a great job plus she's a little older at 7 so I know she'll be really well behaved. I talked to her mom about her being in the wedding and then I ordered this special cookie for her. It is personalized with her name on it and she should be getting it in the next couple of days.

I also put together some sample welcome bags and will have to post those pictures soon.

Hi Vanessa! I was talking to people at work about how my Tae Kwon Do tournament my be in Detroit next summer and one of them mentioned Frankenmuth. It took me a second to remember where I had heard about it, and then I remember it was from you. I don't think anyone at work knows about my DIS obsession, so I didn't bother to fill them in with the details. I just thought is was very random that in a Philadephia suburb I hear about a place I had only heard about online before.

It really is a small world! I've learned so many random things from people on the Dis :disrocks: FYI about 10 minutes from Frankenmuth in Birch Run is the second largest outlet mall in the country if you ever make your way up this way.

Thanks plutofreak, I hope I'm able to keep your interest :goodvibes

I've had some drama on the bridal party front. My one bridesmaid called on Sunday and said that she had lost her job and wouldn't be able to be in the wedding. I wasn't mad because I knew that the circumstances were beyond her control and I knew that she had been having a lot of problems at her job and was unhappy since she was transferred earlier this year. The bad thing is that we've been friends since middle school and I would miss having her at the wedding, but like I told her sometimes "Life just happens."

We are down to the wire for ordering the dresses so this put me in a tight position. We already have 5 guys compared to 4 girls (the last groomsman- Kris' cousin, is walking his mom to her seat.) I had to get a replacement ASAP. I have another close friend who is coming to the wedding, but there is a catch. Her and the other bridesmaid had a falling out on a trip that we all went on to New York in 2006.

So, I drove over to the other bridesmaid's house that day to talk to her about it. Anyway, she said that she wouldn't have a problem with it so I went ahead with calling Amanda (my other friend) to ask her to be in the wedding.

She helped me with my veil earlier this summer and helped with the embroidery on the welcome bags, etc. Anyway, I told her that from the beginning we were limited on how many people we could have in the wedding so we weren't able to have all of our close friends as involved as we might have wanted and now that Nicole could no longer be in it I would be honored to have her as a part of the wedding. She said yes! :cheer: She went to order her dress the very next morning :cheer:

Now that I was on a roll with weddingish.com I ordered her one too :goodvibes

Also, I'm considering this dress for the flower girl. It is available in a soft yellow which would complete the pastel ensemble (lilac, pink, seafoam green, light blue from the bridesmaids). What does everyone think?

I forgot to tell you. I had to retrieve some of my boxes from my grandparents house (they are threatening to trash things if we don't start taking them) and in one of the boxes you'll never guess what I found....

A Figment piggy bank!

It say "EPCOT Center" on it even! It must be from my very first trip way back when!

:figment: How cool! It's funny because I think he's more popular with people from our generation. I am so excited to see how they end up decorating with Figment for our dessert party.

I'll try to post a picture of it later. I remember that trip, and some of the event, but the thing I remember most is Figment. I can barely remember visiting the Magic Kingdom. We did Sea World, MK and Epcot during the week, and all I remember is Figment and Shamu (the whale was still a baby then). That piggy bank is so scrapbook-worthy!

I'm picking up my dress tomorrow. :cool1: They called me on Monday to tell me that it was in already. I will post pictures this weekend :bride:

The good news is that my dress fit perfectly! I really only need to have a bustle done. I took it home since the shop I bought it from is over an hour away. They charge a flat rate for alterations anyway, so I know it would cost me more in the long run from them. I have a great seamstress who does all my alterations that just retired from working with several bridal shops last year, so I'm going to have her do the bustle. She now runs a small sewing business on the side out of her house and she's really reasonable. She is an avid hunter, so I will have to wait until deer season ends since she will be in and out over the next few weeks.

I was worried about the color of the dress. It only came in ivory or white. In my family it's a big controversy if you wear ivory, so that was out. I was hoping for a diamond white, but this style didn't come in that color. Thankfully, all the beading on top kept me from looking washed out. You'll see in the closer shots that I share, the white isn't too bad.

The dress was kind of heavy and hurt my back after being in it for only 20 minutes. My MOH is also a physical therapist and she said to tell my therapist that my goal is to be able to haul around Xpounds (no idea the actual weight) from my dress and they'll help me work towards that by the wedding.

I still need to take a couple of pictures of the back. It originally had a lace-up ribbon, corset style, but I had them switch it to a regular zipper. I didn't want the hassle of someone having to string the corset at 7 am! They adjusted the straps on the back so they come in more at an angle. I was worried because it looked funny on the hangar, but when I put it on the change was really cute!

I'm not sure if you can see, but I have on the Swarovski Cinderella bracelet and I'm hold the tiara in one of the pictures. I'm also ordering a teardrop necklace and earrings that match that style from the Swarovski web site this weekend. I have the Cinderella necklace, but it doesn't go very well with my neckline.

I'm not sure how great my email connection is going to be at our hotel in Indiana while we're visiting family, so if I'm not around I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

I'm so glad your dress is in! You look gorgeous!!!! I love the detailing on your dress, it does add something to the white.

Happy Thanksgiving! :)
