hi all,

if i get a fastpass for festival of the lion king, does it matter how late i arrive?

if i get to the 1000 show at 0958 will i still get a seat?

thanks

My instinctive answer is that if you're going to cut it that close, I'm not sure it's worth getting the FP+. The FP+ guests are allowed to enter the theater first and then the standby guests are allowed in. So if you're going to there only a few minutes before the show starts, I don't think the FP+ is really going to do anything to help you. In most cases it sounds like the theater is big enough that it rarely fills to capacity, so I would think that it you should be able to get a seat (but it might not be a very good one that close to showtime).

The show rarely fills and all the seats are good so it really doesn't matter when you arrive.

As PP said, they let in the standby line after the FP line (and definitely before 2 minutes prior to the show time - I can't remember but i think they are let in about 10 minutes prior (which matches up with the FP time window listed when you book a FP for it)). So, if you are going to show up 2 minute prior, no point in using a FP.

If you are going during a school vacation week, it can fill up. But the 1st show of the day doesn't usually fill up - that's your best bet for standby during a very busy day, fwiw.

Sorry to Hijack the thread but since when do you need a fast pass for FOTLK?!?!?!? When we went Spring Break of 2013 there was hardly anyone at the show, has this changed?

We saw FOTLK many times the last 3 weeks of Aug. 2014. During the first part of that trip (say, 2nd week of August), without FP, or getting in standby line early (wildly guess 20+ minutes early), you'd be sitting pretty far in the back (not that you can't see from the back row). I didn't pay close attention but I don't think they filled to capacity except once when it rained.

Anyway, we use FP for FOTLK because my son wants to sit closer up, is really eager to go in and sit (it's hot in line, despite the shade, in August!), and we only have 2 other things we want to use FP for in AK.

So, I guess we basically use FP for it for the quicker access to AC! :)

Sunday, 12/28, the 10am show was standing room only. That's obviously a very busy day for AK, but still.

We had a FP for the 10am show. We were running a tiny bit late, got there at 9:51 ... which technically is late. The FP+ reservation ends 10 prior to show time. They still let us in through the FP+ entrance, but we were lucky to get a seat, not a particularly good view. Next time we'll get there 15-25 min before the show and hope to get seats closer to the floor.

Thanks for the reply! We always have been near the top so that makes perfect sense.

We got there at 9:55 for the show and had a good seat. We did not need FP+

Its really not "needed". The shows are usually pretty full, but this is a large venue that accommodates a large number. Worst case, you wait for the next show.

Unless you're going at a really crowded time, I think a FP is unnecessary for this attraction. I've never had any problems just walking up, even almost at showtime.

With shows, if you don't arrive by the cutoff time for the FP they will send you in standby. With this particular show, unless it is one of the most heavily crowded days, you will still get in if you go standby.

So I have not read all the responses (sorry) but I’m going to tell you why I will never fastpass a show again. We FP this show last time we were at WDW. I had a 3 year old daughter and a 15 year old son with my husband and I. We were seated right behind a handicap accessible bench which was fine...until literally 30 seconds before the start of the show and the theater was full but the cast members let 4 girls in their 20s all wearing mouse ears in and sat them right in front of us on the handicap bench. My daughter couldn’t see a thing and when we complained the girls rudely said “too bad we’re here too” and the cast members said they were sorry but nothing they could do. We would have been much better off a few rows back where at least she could have seen what was happening. All she got to see, because they also wouldn’t let her stand near the end of the bench, was the ridiculously rowdy girls being obnoxious with each other oooing and ahhhing and clutching each other’s shoulders and giggling. Now I went to college in Orlando and I’ve been the young adult traveler and I know the whole childless millennial debate. Common courtesy in any situation diffuses any of those arguments. I wasted a FP that we had made other plans around. I will never FP a show again.
