Hi all! This will be my first stay at WBC and getting excited! On Monday I bought a you pick week 7 night stay at WBC from a seller with excellent feedback. We paid through Pay Pal and told her what dates we wanted and she said ok. On Tuesday I emailed her asking her when we get out confirmation and she said she would email it to us on Wednesday morning, well she didnt and I emailed her first thing this morning (Thursday) and its now 2pm in the afternoon with no response....Idk what to do! Does it normally take this long to get a confirmation? I hope we arent getting screwed over.... Ugh! Any suggestions or am I being a little too paranoid? Ty!

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. See a listing with Carolhab1. I've never bought points like this before either...

I'm not sure when you are travelling, or the payment details of your transaction, but when I purchased my week from ebay, I only put down $100 deposit. The balance was to be paid upon receipt of the guest certificate confirmation (showing that the reservation was in my name). I am aware that there is always a chance that the owner cancels the reservation after receiving the final payment, but I don't think that this happens very often.

If the ebay seller that you are dealing with has great feedback as a SELLER (not as a buyer because they are calculated together at first glance), I wouldn't start to worry just yet. Good luck and keep us posted!

The ebay seller mentioned above is good example of what I posted earlier. This ebayer has a 100% positive feedback of 71. If you look closely though, her feedback as a seller is only 8 (they were all timeshare transactions). I don't know anything about this seller, but I like to look for someone who has near 100% feedback with at least 75+ timeshare rentals. But, I guess all ebay sellers have to start somewhere. It all boils down to how much risk you all willing to accept.

She had a note in the auction to email and check on availability prior to buying. I emailed my dates, and she said she didn't have anything, so it was a moot point for me.

We purchased AKL from Scottys_travel and have a confirmation number. Needed to add the dining plan and now Scott has vanished from the face of the Earth. No one has been in contact with him for at least one month.

Well this is something I will never do again! 5 days and 6 emails later I finally got a response and a confirmation letter from the seller. She claimed she couldnt get back to me sooner cause eBay was having an issue with emails going through. :headache: I just called WBC with our name and confirmation # but we arent in the system yet. The person I spoke with said it takes up to 72 hours from the time a reservation is made for the system to recognize it. Ugh! So I am calling on Monday and if we arent in the system by then I am taking this up with Pay Pal. This has been a less then pleasant experience! :sad2:

If it helps, as an owner doing my own reservations, it can sometimes take easily 2 days before I can even see my confirmation on the website showing that I booked the room.... and it's usually another day or so before I receive the email "confirmation" letter with the resort info.

How far out is your reservation? I've also waited 5 days for my confirmation and had no problems. From what I can tell from your description, you are good to go.

Well now I really dont know what to think. She sent me a confirmation number on the 24th and when I called WBC today (28th) they dont have our name in their system. I am not too sure how long it takes for a reservation to show up in their system! I really need some piece of mind...not sure if I called too early to check but 4 days seems like plenty amount of time for Wyndham to see our reservation! :confused3

How far out is your reservation? Also, describe how you received your number. Was it included with some information about the resort?

My dates are from June 12th thru June 19th and she sent me a confirmation email through our Pay Pal email and yes the resort information was on there as well. She sent a seperate email to me saying that often WBC wont recognize a persons name (reservation) until 15 to 30 days before arrival so to make my building request then. I think its kinda strange that it would take over 3 months for WBC to have my reservation in their system!

I'd say at the very least give it until midweek or the end of the week before you start getting too concerned. I don't know if Wyndham's system "actively processes" reservations over a weekend. Usually most things have a 'business day' disclaimer on them, so it could be delayed.

The other thing you might inquire about is the resort confirmation number. Each reservation has a confirmation number assigned by Wyndham, so if they can't look it up by your name (not sure how guest certificates/reservations appear in the actual resort's system), they may be able to look it up by the confirmation #.

The confirmation you described is just like the ones I have recieved a dozen times and never had a problem.

I've read over in the "We loooooove Bonnet Creek" thread that Bonnet Creek doesn't get guest info into their computers until a couple of weeks out, so this seems pretty normal as well.

I can speculate that right now your reservation is held in a different Wyndham computer system and it will be transfered to the Bonnet Creek system as your reservation gets closer.

I myself have never called Bonnet Creek or Wyndham ahead of time to check on a reservation or make a room request, so I can't speak from my own experience there. (I do request areas of the resort when I check in)

From what you have described, your experience of buying a reservation seems perfectly normal and in order.

Remember, those nerves you are feeling are a big reason why Bonnet Creek is so affordable. The first few times I used alternative methods to book places to stay -- renting DVC points and Bonnet Creek -- I was a bit concerned, but everything went smoothly and now I would be hard-pressed to stay in Orlando via a traditional route.

If you are really stressed out, make a backup reservation somewhere you can cancel, or just come up with a list of some backup places to stay. In the worst-case scenario -- you show up and they haven't heard of you -- remember you are in Orlando, with tons of great places to stay. The risk is low, the savings you get by staying at Bonnet Creek is tremendous.

Thank you for your replies it really helped put my mind at ease! I am def going to make some back up reservations just in case. Thank God my husband can book reservations through his work where we can cancel up to 24 hours before check in without a penalty!

We purchased a week from Scottys_travel as well for next fall. I got a confirmation number and e-mail from him. Is there a way to verify with Disney directly that the reservation is still valid?

You have the Wyndham confirmation, how about calling Wyndham and confirming the information on it? Not being the owner, they won't tell you too much. But having a confirmation number, I would think you could call them and confirm it and that your guest confirmation is still in your name.

Wyndham is the resort owner (not Disney) so that is who you would want to confirm with (I think). As others have already stated, you probably aren't in the Bonnet Creek system yet.

I've rented at other Wyndham locations and they often use separate reservation systems, and separate confirmation numbers (Wyndham vs. the actual resort). I don't want to give you a false sense of security, but don't panic if Bonnet Creek doesn't have you in their system yet. But I would try to follow up with Wyndham and see if they can ease your nervous, help you feel more comfortable.

I doubt that Disney will tell you anything. Are you at the AKL as well? We are traveling Aug 7 to th 14th. I was told by Wilton Manors Police dept that so far since I still have a reservation no crime was committed....even though we cannot find him to add the dining plan. He said to have a back up place to stay. I'm printing everything and plan to take it with me incase he does cancel and I am unaware. I would think that Disney could fit us in somewhere on property if worse came to worse.

You CAN verify DVC rentals with a confirmation number. (Not by calling DVC, they will only talk to the member).

There is a link in the second line of the thread above.

It does work for me and my reservation is still there. I'm just praying that it doesn't get cancelled before our arrival date since our seller seems to have vanished from the face of the earth!
