The Arrival Day: IN REVIEW
In this update I will be discussing my thoughts on the arrival day by stating things that were good and things that could have been done/completed more efficiently. Of course I know that not everything can be perfect, but sometimes these things can certainly be helped by others or oneself. In discussing the arrival day I am pretty sure that you can all guess what my first little 'rant' will be.
If you guessed the airline check-in, than you are correct!
The airlines that we traveled with marketed the online check-in as being time saving and efficient for guests. From past experiences, the online check-in was efficient (December 2008) which was why we decided to do it again. Thinking that it would save us time at the airport, we were fine with the airport shuttle service picking us up at 7:30am and getting us to the airport 2 hours in advance. Little did we know that the self-serve baggage drop for those passengers who did the online check-in would be just as long, if not longer than the regular check-in for passengers who did not do the online check in. When we got to the airport we only saw 1 person working the self-serve baggage drop and by that time the line up was pretty long. It was a good thing that we got in the line-up then because the next time I looked the line-up was already going down the airport airline check in area. The best part of it all was that once they finally got a few more people working the online check in counter the stopped taking people from the online check in lineup and started taking people from the regular check in lineup. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! At this point it was almost 9:30am and we still needed to clear customs and security. After hearing a travel agent say that customs was backlogged made me panic a little bit but I didn't want to show it. The incompetence of the airline was certainly shown in this case. But then again some passengers were bringing 5 suitcases for 2 people it's no wonder why the line-up was so long. If someone is offering something for free of course people are going to take advantage of it. The airline that we flew with offered 2 free checked luggage PER PERSON and 2 free carry-ons PER PERSON.
Moving past that one can only see the better in the day which of course was the checking into the resort and arriving at Walt Disney World after 1.5 years of waiting. The food was good, I mean Disney food isn't excellent but it certainly isn't bad. We really enjoyed Wishes and thought that our room was in a good location. I was just overly excited to go to a park the next day!
Overall we had an excellent day!
