Feelin' Hot Hot Hot in Walt Disney World (May 2010) - The Final Decision...Hmm

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before in this trip report, but this trip was all about the first times and new experiences of what Walt Disney World has to offer. My parents have visited the Boardwalk previously, twice to be exact, but I have never gone there. Both of the times that my parents visited the Boardwalk I was swimming in the pool with my brother. I was told that on this trip we would be able to visit the Boardwalk. After seeing all the pictures and reading all of the reviews, I was excited. It just so happens that we decided to walk out the back doors of the Beach Club and I saw something that I never thought that I would be able to see. Could it be? Was it the Boardwalk in the distance across the lake. As we moved closer to the fence bordering the lake and walkway of the Beach Club I realized that it was the Boardwalk!!! Here are some pictures of our walk around the Boardwalk. It was an amazing walk and I am glad that I finally got to see it!!!

After we returned to the Polynesian from our delicious dinner and lovely stroll around the Boardwalk we decided to call it a night and enjoy our room while eating a few of our treats that we had bought the previous night.

We have ADR's at Cape May and we love seafood, especially all you can eat crablegs. Next year I want to stay at Boardwalk! Nice pics!

We went to the Cape May Cafe twice this trip for dinner because we loved it so much the first time that we went there. They changed it from our last visit in 2008 by adding more seafood options. I wanted to try a crab leg, but I couldn't bring myself to it. They have amazing chicken nuggets there!

Love your pics!
You're a good writer:thumbsup2

Thank you!!!!!
Welcome!

Great updates, loving the Cape May pics, food looks yummy :thumbsup2

Shame about Splash being down, but at least you got three FP's for later for your troubles :)

Thank you!!
Oh trust me we got our share of Splash Mountain on our last visit to the MK. I got a dumping of water :goodvibes

I just found your TR and I am loving it!!! I can't wait to read more! ;)

Thank you!!!
Welcome!!

Now that we have officially finished the Magic Kingdom day, or day 2 of our trip we will be moving on to the Day at Hollywood Studios. Stay tuned!!

Love your Boardwalk pics! I wanted to take a walk over there while we were at the Beach Club, but we were always SO tired from walking around the parks all day!

Great pictures, looks so peaceful and tranquil :)

Looking forward to reading about DHS :)

The walk is quite tiring, but it was worth it. We didn't spend a full day at the park so we had a bit of a break of all the walking so I think that made it a bit easier for us. But all that food that we ate at the buffet certainly was weighing us down :lmao:

I am looking forward to writing about the DHS because it's my favorite park :goodvibes

We have finally finished our first day at the Magic Kingdom which means that we are moving on to day 3 of the vacation which brings us to Disney's Hollywood Studios. I know some people have mixed feelings about this park - some like it because of the atmosphere and some don't really like it because it does not have many rides. I personally love Disney's Hollywood Studios because of the atmosphere and the rides. I'm not into rollercoasters that you can find at other amusement parks which almost explains why it took me so long to go on the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith. Here is a quick look at our plans for the day:

Breakfast: Kona Cafe
Lunch: Backlot Express at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Snack: Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room
Dinner: Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney

We will begin with our morning stroll around the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian. On Tuesday morning my mom and I went for our morning walk to the Grand Floridian and back to the Polynesian to wait in the lobby for my dad to join us for breakfast. I like going for this walk, especially when it is light outside because you can see everything. You can see the Wilderness Lodge, the Magic Kingdom (Train Station, Cinderella's Castle, Space Mountain) as well as the obvious Polynesian and the Grand Floridian.

Once we had came back from our walk we waited in the lobby of the Polynesian for my dad. The reason why we waited in the lobby for my dad was because we were eating at the Kona Cafe and we did not want to disturb him while we was getting ready. At approximately 7:30am my dad came to the lobby and we walked upstairs to the Kona Cafe for our reservation. We were then seated in a location that was only 2 seats away from our previous location that we sat in just the other day. Here is what everyone ordered:

Myself
- French Toast with Bacon (split with mom)
- Side of Breakfast Potatoes
- Apple Juice

Mom
- French Toast with Bacon (split with myself)
- Side of Scrambled Eggs
- Orange Juice
- Coffee

Dad
- French Toast with Sausage
- Pineapple Juice
- Coffee

There are no pictures of food from breakfast this morning because everything was pretty much the same from yesterday. I did however take this lovely picture :lmao:

After we finished our breakfast we walked back to our room to get ready for the park.

How peaceful your morning pics of the Poly look! Plus I loved the Boardwalk pics (they definitely got me more excited about our trip & staying there again!) Hollywood Studios is one of my fav parks (Epcot is another fav) - I love TSM, ToT and all the shops and places to eat.

Seeing the Boardwalk made me love it even more! :thumbsup2
Toy Story Mania is an excellent addition to DHS because it sometimes can take away from the line ups at ToT :lmao::thumbsup2

Disney's Hollywood Studios (Part 1)

As we walked towards the hotel parking lot, I decided to take a few pictures to emphasize the beauty that is the Polynesian Resort. The walk between the small parking lot and the Tahiti longhouse is beautiful and is surrounded by gorgeous flowers that I do not get to see at home.

Having a rental car, we decided to drive to Disney's Hollywood Studios. We left our resort shortly before 9am and arrived in the parking lot of DHS at approximately 9:15am. We thought that it would be a good idea to leave for DHS before 9am so we would have a better chance of getting a fastpass for Toy Story Midway Mania early on in the day. I love riding the trams in Walt Disney World. The trams to me are a ride outside of the rides in the actual park. Hearing about the various attractions and events at DHS on that Tuesday made me smile. As we approached the entrance to DHS I could hear the familiar music - the music of Hollywood and the music of happiness. To the far right I could see the top of the Hollywood Tower Hotel and straight ahead I could see the Sorcerer Mickey's hat located in front of the Great Movie Ride. We entered through the ticket turnstiles, and that was the moment that I became picture happy.

Can you guess where we decided to head to first? Well if you guessed Toy Story Mania than you are correct. Like many others on here we decided to get a fastpass for TSM before they had return times for late in the day. Our return times for the fastpasses were between 12:05pm and 1:05pm. We also decided to wait in the stand-by line for TSM, just so we could see Mr. Potato Head.

:lovestruc your long updates!!! Although I am so far behind on everyone's TR's I really better get reading!!
Love your relaxed pace that your family vacations :goodvibes
I think I will make a reservation for Cape May for October....haven't been there in awhile and maybe I won't get to weirded out eating at a buffet alone because there are always people moving around :confused3
I love HS too....well I am happy anywhere that I am when there ;) I did a lot of moving around so I can't remember if I was at HS this day too.....looking forward to see what you got at EOS....love their bread!!! :goodvibes

Great pictures, the Poly is such a beautiful resort :)

The Poly is really pretty, and I love the idea of walking from there to the Grand Floridian in the morning! I'd love to stay there someday!

I love DHS too...it was always my favorite until Epcot replaced it last year, but it's a very close second! I love the old Hollywood feeling of it! :)

Ahh Toy Story Mania, I love it. Not only do I get a great score on Toy Story Mania, the 4-D aspect of the ride is also a plus. As many of you might know if you go through the stand-by line up at TSM, you can see the one...the only...

dscf0298u.jpg

Mr. Potato Head :lmao: Of course seeing him in person and not on the poster is also an added bonus!

dscf0322j.jpg

I had the opportunity to stare at this lovely potato and I have to say the more that I looked at him the more that I was creeped out. I sat by myself while my parents rode together. I ended up getting the high score, but it was no big deal :rolleyes1....to others that is.

After we got off of TSM we headed towards the Twilight Zone. Have I mentioned that I am happy that you dropped by my trip report?

dscf0340t.jpg

dscf0344s.jpg
.

Have a nice trip, see you next...fall. Oh and to add to the creepiness - the wait time for this ride was 13 minutes.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Sorry for the short update :) I will be adding to it later!

Cute update (or should I say creepy?) ;) I LOVE ToT - wait time of 13 mins was too cool!

I'm catching up on your report. I love all of the pictures from the Boardwalk. It's so cheery over there. I've never actually stopped to explore, but we took the boat from Epcot to MGM one time and it definitely made me want to come back and look around sometime.

And I LOVE the pics of the Poly in the morning. It's so quiet and relaxing early in the morning. :cloud9:

After we rode the Tower of Terror we decided to bypass the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith and do some wandering around in the shops on Sunset Boulevard. I love the shops in Hollywood Studios, and I especially loved them today because as soon as you walked through the open doors of the shopped you were bombarded with waves of cool air. Yes, the one thing learned during this trip is if you ever get too warm, go look around in the shops :goodvibes.

dscf0360y.jpg

Now I understand why they call it Catastrophe Canyon. Boy does it get hot in that scene :goodvibes

We made our way back down to the Sorcerer Mickey's hat and decided to head on down to the Backlot Tour - to ride the Backlot Tour which is something that we have not done for quite a few years.

dscf0372e.jpg

Anyone want to climb that steep hill? Not me...:goodvibes

After we had gotten in the lineup for the Backlot Tour they started allowing guests to enter the preshow area. Of course there was quite a long line up of people in each of the 4 possible line ups and we thought that we weren't going to be able to get into the preshow - but rather have to wait for the next one. We were asked how many were in our party and we said "3" thankfully the lady let us in and we did not have to wait. I thought that they took volunteers from the audience for the preshow but apparently not because they didn't do it this time. It was really cool seeing the Backlot Tour again, but once was enough for that trip.

dscf0364q.jpg

It was cool seeing objects and such from various movies. Although some of those movies I have never heard of before. :goodvibes

After the Backlot Tour we decided to again take a look in the shops around that area. We ended up at the "Writer's Stop" which was where my parents decided to get a coffee and I got a blue raspberry slushie. Yum yum!! Before we knew it, we were off to Toy Story Mania to use our fastpasses.

dscf0321a.jpg

dscf0315b.jpg

And the winner of the creepiest thing in the line up for Toy Story Mania goes to the Blue Monkey!!

The fastpass did us well because we were through the line and on the ride in approximately 10 minutes or less. :hippie: After riding Toy Story Mania we headed on over to Walt Disney's One Man's Dream, which was something that we have never been in or seen in all the years that it has been there. I have to admit, I am very sorry that we passed by this exhibit, and have never been in there before because it was amazing. It was so cool to trace the history of Walt Disney and who he was. I'd give this a two thumbs up!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

dscf0384ys.jpg

We looked around the Animation Courtyard and then decided to try the Magic of Disney Animation. We have only been here once before and let me say that it was well worth it visiting it again. It was funny and very interesting. Like I said before this was the trip of trying new and old attractions and shows. So far we have not been let down!

dscf0354h.jpg

We'll be seeing the broomsticks on our next trip to the Magic Kingdom :goodvibes

After we were finished in the Magic of Disney Animation we decided to go and get some lunch at the Backlot Express. For lunch we just had fries because we were going to be leaving the park and heading on over to the Grand Floridian for some afternoon tea!

Want to know how the tea went? Stay tuned!!
