Feeding the dolphins

I would like to know that as well because that's something I always wanted to do but if it's too expensive I might just watch.

I think it is $7 for each person who goes into the area where you get to feed them. You do get a discount if you have a season pass.

right $7 per tray and every person that goes into the feeding area has to buy at least one tray.

totally worth the money as the dolphins are so lovely and you can have a lot of fun with them!

Eveyone has to pay, I took my two girls and just wanted to get them trays, but had to pay as well. It was really fun though.

If you don't pay the fee, it definatly becomes a waiting game. As you only get a few mins before feeding times where the dolphins come over to the other area.

After the feeding times are done for the day (around 5pm), you generally have better luck at petting one. Around this time, the trainers will go to the other side of the pool and feed them a bunch of fish. Now what was really cool, the other day when I went, they fed them on the petting side, and actually signaled all of them to lay up on the ledge. So every one standing there got to pet a dolphin. It was the coolest experience ever. But they don't do that very often at all.

If you have little ones that have a hard time petting the dolphins, speak with the trainers there. I've seen them call a dolphin on the ledge so you have an opprotunity to let the littles ones get their chance.

Great comments, thanks! Can anyone tell me what time the feedings are or is it listed at the park when we get there? Should we line up ahead of time? This is the highlight of my daughter's trip, along with the 1 hour dolphin tour- not swimming with them, not in the budget!!!
THANKS for any help or recommendations.

the next feeding time is always written at the entrance of dolphin cove!

We got there about 11 and there was already a line... but didn't take that long, 15 min or so.

I think it depends on the season and time you're going. in november there was almost no waititng!

They pretty much do it throughout the day. Occasionally there will be a 30min break or something to give the dolphins a bit rest/play time. And they're usually done by 5ish. I think they close off the dolphin area by 6pm.

The other day when i went, I got to touch them twice. One came right up and pretty much gave me his flipper. It was so cute. And he was far enough out that the annoying children next to me couldn't reach. And then I got splashed.

Dolphins are smart. A, they know which side has food, and B, they ain't going to get near you cause you say "here dolphin dolphin, come here dolphin". Or start splashing the water, that's an invitation to get yourself splashed back at.

We went in June 2009 and the $7 per person was well worth it. My DD9 is still talking about it. My DS5 also enjoyed it. They loved being able to touch the dolphins and one of the dolphins splashed my daughter which she thought was cool.

Feeding the dolphins is a great experience but it is really sad to see how Seaworld has ruined this. It used to be $3 a tray and everyone could walk to the side of the pool. So i would get a few trays and feed them for a bit. Then it went to $5 a tray and I still had fun because I could walk to the pool with the kids and a few trays and still pet some dolphins. Now 3 kids and $7 a tray with my wife and I, it has become a $35 experience for what used to run us under $15. I understand costs go up but that kind of an increase is just ugly.

I would do it once but that is it

We did it this past weekend and got there right when the park opened and most people were making a beeline for Manta (which is also awesome, BTW). When we got to the dolphin area my girls had a few wonderful minutes totally alone with the dolphins and the trainer, and then we did the first feeding at 9:15. Getting there early is priceless. When we peeped in later in the day people were packed along the concrete curb.

FYI -- we did not have to pay the $7 for our 2 year old, if you have really little ones.

I agree it is totally worth it. Great photos/video, just protect the camera as water does FLY up at times. Oh, and they snap your photos as you do it and try to get you to cough up $$ to buy them. If you don't intent to buy don't even look at them becuase they are SO cute you'll want to pay for them!!
