Federal Returns started today. Anyone file?

done, federal and state returns accepted, and the tax return allocated accordingly! I won't write the check until the funds actually appear in my account of course!

Did mine last week. still have to get my daughters done and my mothers done- my daughter was short one w2 so was waiting on that and of course it was in my mailbox when I got home from getting mine done!! I have to file MA and NY taxes for my daughter this year so that stinks!

For once, I got everything I needed before Jan. 31. I filed on Saturday night and got notification yesterday that both my federal and state returns were accepted. Now just waiting for the direct deposit...as soon as I get that, I'll be paying for our room for our December trip :teeth:

Gah, I wish I could. I'm still waiting for my W2, and since they send them electronically it appears they're waiting until the last possible second. Everything else is done and I'm chomping at the bit because we do usually get a bit of a refund and because it seems like half the people I know have had identity theft issues of people filing first so I like to file ASAP.

Ya know all I really need is my property tax statement but I don't have to wait for that right? I mean I know what I paid in property taxes twice a year, just add those two amounts together and wa-la, right?

And interest statements..is there a dollar amount you have to have made in interest to add to your taxes? Example if you only made $10 or less do you have to worry about adding income? Seems I never get them from my credit union. I guess I can go online and look at my account and add up the interest that posted also, although, it's not much..guess I need to google.

Ok any amount needs reporting, https://finance.zacks.com/minimum-amount-interest-savings-account-issue-1099int-6789.html

No problem, I can add.

As long as you know how much you paid in property taxes then you can use that total. My total property tax amount was also noted on my mortgage loan end of year statement since they pay it from escrow -- if you have a mortgage interest statement, maybe it's also on yours?

For the first time ever, all of the forms my wife and I needed were available to us before the 31st. Sat down and did our taxes last night and submitted them before work this morning.

Getting back a cool $54 from the Feds.
Owe the State of Michigan $128.

Happy tax season everyone!
Yes, I filed last night and am awaiting a refund.

I pay personal property tax on cars in my state and I never get a statement so just add in the amount.

If I get interest reported to me on a checking/savings account, I report it as income no matter how little.

Mostly everyone likes to say what they are getting back. Ever look and see how much you paid in?

Federal $32,000.00. State of Wisconsin. $12,000.00.
Property Taxes $4900
SS- the maximum
Medicare-3500.00

I just read we work till almost May 1, if you put it into prospective for the government.

How do you guys get all of the needed info so fast!? I have W2 but nothing from mortgage yet or brokerage account

Waiting on one form that's always late... Hopefully it'll show up in the next few days. We have a bunch of new stuff, job changes for both of us, etc, so the plan is to have a professional do it this year. Calling to make the appointment as soon as we get that last paper...

No mortgage & my xDH is our broker so we are first in line. W-2's are on line. All we needed was out health insurance info, got that Saturday.

Wow, that's weird. I do mine online with H&R block and got a text that my return was submitted 5 minutes after I submitted it online. I got a text about 2 hours later that my refund was accepted by the IRS.
I use H&R Block too and their website says that some federal tax law about claiming the child tax credit means that I can't get my refund until February 28 :( I did my taxes over the weekend and got an email that they were accepted by the IRS and my state on Monday.

The PATH act. They can’t start running them until after 2/15 so the year are saying deposits won’t hit until 2/27. Last year i got it on 2/23 i believe. I think 2/27 is to give them some time but yup. End of February. It’s due to people claiming Kids illegally or divorced/separated parents both claiming Kids. Apparently this gives the IRS time to check things out instead of releasing funds and then dealing with audits. I have a friend who’s ex claimed their son and got the refund. She notified the irs and he got into huge trouble. But it took years for her to get that money back.
