Federal Returns started today. Anyone file?

Wow, that's weird. I do mine online with H&R block and got a text that my return was submitted 5 minutes after I submitted it online. I got a text about 2 hours later that my refund was accepted by the IRS.

It is. If I log back onto the TaxAct website is claims they were submitted but no emails/texts yet.

Nope, not yet. Still waiting on W2's We usually file mid Feb or early March. Not in any hurry for the small refunds we usually get.

My son did his this weekend. Because he makes under the amount for paying taxes, he gets everything back, so almost a $970 refund for him.

I drafted mine and won't hit the button until the last minute: I owe $2500-ish (again). I upped to extra withholding last year but it didn't help. Oh well, can't complain.

Yep! Was excited to see I was getting over 2k back between federal and state combined, then realized it's all just going straight back to them when I throw it all at my student loans right away

Our one son will do our taxes the end of Feb. Now that we're both retired, I have no idea if we will pay or get a refund.

I taught my son how to do his last week and it was accepted by the IRS on the 26th the email said. His soc number was compromised in an Anthem hack a few years ago, so I told him he'll have to be diligent about getting his return done early every year. He's only 17 and worked for the first time this past summer so he gets everything back. A big whopping $18!ha

I'll do the rest of the families probably this week.

Our taxes were done and submitted via snail mail on the 25th. We have never had out taxes in that early before but for whatever reason both our employers were on the ball as far as getting W-2's out this year. We are getting about $2400 back.

Did they ask for your son's driver's license info before electronically filing? My son had to submit his. This speeds the return. You can elect not to provide it but they state right there that your return will be slowed down.

I guess if someone gets that information from you, you're doomed!

Mine have been done for a couple of weeks but I was waiting until I could take the turbo tax fee out of my refund. I sold a house so had to do a schedule whatever so had to pay.

Yep they did.

I am waiting on one 1099, but everything else has been entered so we can file as soon as that one comes. Between the Adoption Tax Credit and selling a rental property, we are getting a very large refund this year. Hopefully that means more AKV points are coming my way soon!

I'll do my taxes today or tomorrow. I'm still missing one 1099, but it's from a very small pension that doesn't change year to year, with no taxes taken out.
