For the first time ever, all of the forms my wife and I needed were available to us before the 31st. Sat down and did our taxes last night and submitted them before work this morning.

Getting back a cool $54 from the Feds.
Owe the State of Michigan $128.

Happy tax season everyone!

Yup. I submitted our returns electronically last Friday. We were already notified by text on Saturday that our Federal Return was accepted by the IRS. Should have our refund (almost $1000) by next Friday at the latest. Still waiting on CA to accept our return.

No - not in any hurry to pay the $200 or so I will owe. ;)

Nope. I didn't adjust my withholding after a pay increase last year so I owe $899. :( I will file on April 17.

Smart to file early if you can. Less chance for tax identity theft, earlier the better.::yes:::wave2:

That happened to us last year, so you would think my husband would be on it already but he's not. We did get a special pin number to use from the IRS, I hope that somehow keeps us from being hacked again. I want to know if we're getting any money back, dh is a slug about it.

We're still waiting on my W-2, but we generally end up owing a little, so we won't submit until closer to April 15th anyway.

I started to file and realized I forgot one form. :sad1: I'm going to finish it tomorrow. This would be the first year I've gotten everything done this early! I just want it out of the way and luckily we don't owe this year.

How long did it take for your approval to come in? Just realized that I haven't gotten any emails or text yet about it.

I checked every day since filing on the 22 and this morning was the first time I got the happy message "Your return has been approved. We anticipate your refund will be deposited on Jan 31". I filed Jan 22, so it took a week to get that message. Every day prior had only said, "Your return was accepted" and showed "in progress" as the status. Did you go to the "Where's my refund" website?

Yeah, went to Where's My Refund. Claims it doesn't have anything submitted yet. I also haven't gotten any emails from TaxAct saying they were submitted either. I would assume they are just getting slammed right now and it will catch up by tonight hopefully.

Much better chance early in the season for the refund to be processed quicker!:thumbsup2

Wow, that's weird. I do mine online with H&R block and got a text that my return was submitted 5 minutes after I submitted it online. I got a text about 2 hours later that my refund was accepted by the IRS.

We always one who never gets our 1099 out on time. Irks me really bad at times.
