A friend of mine is planning a first trip to WDW with her 5 yr old DS and grandparents. They are considering either February or early May. Which would you recommend and why?? Thanks for your help.

We have been in early February and there were no crowds at all. The temperatures were better than May. May is pretty warm in Florida. I would think May would be busier due to schools getting out then.

Although both times are great I would choose early May......not only are the crowds still light, the weather is warmer but not to humid yet. February can be iffy as far as weather, we still get some pretty cool days then and it can sometimes hamper pool time. Another reason I would chose early May is because the Flower and Garden Festival is on at EPCOT and the grandparents especially may enjoy this, although I think it is enjoyable for everyone, the gardens are so pretty and they usually have a pretty good concert line up.............Even schools that do let out in May it is never until late May.

Thanks for your input. I was leaning toward suggesting early May for the Flower Festival also. Anyone else??

I love mid-May (right after Mother's Day but before Memorial Day). The weather is usually pleasant; very few storms and the temps are usually pleasant. Historically, the crowds have been lower, so fewer people in lines, less waiting, easier to get PS to your favorite restaurant -- even same day PS.

Add in the Flower and Garden Show at Epcot and it's wonderful. The F&G Show is something to see -- all the topiaries are really creative. They have lots of demos and tons of flowers of all kinds to see. Highly recommend this time, especially if they like gardens.

May is my favorite time to visit WDW. The crowds are not too heavy and the weather is beautiful. We went in early April this year and the weather was still on the chilly side, so I don't think I'd want to chance February.

I'd choose May as well, but for a different reason. Travel to and from Florida. February you don't know what you'll get, as far as snow and ice. My DH was on a plane that had to land on an icy/snowy runway that hadn't been cleared yet last January, and he was scared. The pilot did his best, but they slid and skidded all the way to "where the red lights were at the end of the runway". Not to mention the icy drive home from the airport!
