As the title says, I was looking at going to wdw early may 2014,mainly due to low crowds (hopefully), nice weather, but not too hot, and cheaper time. But Im now considering mid february instead.
Can anyone tell me what the weather would be like, will it be warm enough to swim for example? and what the crowds are like. Ive heard in january it can be quite busy with crowds of brazilians. I think its their holiday time, but will february be quiet as its before the spring break?

February weather can be hit and miss. We have been in February (once) and it was cold, wet and miserable. Without a doubt, it was the worst weather we've had in Florida and was enough to put me off going in Feb again (although I still maintain that a cold day in Orlando is better than a cold day here).

However, I've since read plenty of trip reports and seen plenty of people say that the weather has been lovely in Feb when they've been.

I understand that this week has been pretty cold in orlando when, generally, early March should be lovely and warm so I guess the conclusion is, you never can tell. The weather is a funny old thing,, very unpredictable ;)

Yes we have been in feb and had frost, so i must admit i wouldnt go in feb again.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but out of interest, what's the weather usually like for May? Hot enough in both the days and the nights to go without jackets like in August or is it cooler? Regular rain like in August too, or not so much usually?

Thanks :)

Beth, mid-April is the nearest to 'early May' that I have been. We had lovely weather during the day most days (cold wind a couple of days meant hoodies/light jackets were needed) but, when the sun went down in the evening it cooled considerably and we needed cardigans/jackets.

Thanks Joh! I've only ever known July/August weather so am used to it being hot and humid! Might be sensible to take a light cardigan or two then when we go at the end of next month!

Thanks again :)

We've been in May a couple of times, last year we had quite a bit of rain at night which was prolonged rather than the quick showers of rain you get through the day. We did get cold when we got wet but it was hot through the day.

We leave on 7th May so I hope its hot this year :)

We went last February and had lovely weather for the time of year however it was only mid 70s and not really warm enough to swim IMO. DH & DD did swim twice but not for long as it just too cold.

May can be very nice and I can't think of many times I have had to wear a cardigan. However we have had a couple of days of rain but not every day like the main summer months.

We went this February and we were very lucky with the weather the first 4 - 5 mornings were COLD! But always warmed up in the afternoon our last 10 days were lovely never cold 25-30 every day with no humidity it was lovely. But like others have said very hit and miss.

We only went in February as we wanted to go before DD was 2 and we would have to start paying for her. I don't think we would choose to go again in February even though we had a lovely time. I just don't want to go all that way and not get much sun.

But we have also been in August for 2 weeks and rained every day nearly all day for 2 weeks and wouldnt ever go back in August.

We were there mid-April 2 years ago and never needed long sleeves/legs at night.

Sometimes in the shade in the morning was a tiny bit chilly, but nothing we couldn't cope with having just come from the UK!

We go nearly every year end April/beginning of May and have only ever needed a jumper a handful of times and that's been early in the morning, only month we haven't been is August and would choose May every time.

February is really hit and miss, we've had ground frost and record high temperatures :confused3

Our trips always used to be in March as it is our wedding anniversary however we went in March 2010 for our Silver Wedding and it was freezing. I think they said it was the coldest Spring day on record. Last year we decided on May and it was beautiful. I know that March can be beautiful and warm but it can also be cold.

2010 was the worst Jan/Feb/Mar weather in about 50 years I think. Palm trees etc actually froze to death - no joke! We were there in Feb for my parents first visit to WDW and it was freeeeeeeeeezing! We had been in Feb previously and it had been mid 80s for the duration but that year just put me right off going in Feb. We'll be there in May this year and when we go back we're thinking of Sept or after Thanksgiving just to try those times out but not Feb again after being there in 2010!

I went in January 2010 and yes it was very cold! Though I am considering January/February for our next trip!! I liked the lack of bugs etc

We have gone many times in Feb and it is very cold 40-50 (f) degree temps. This year was the exception it was 65 for the highs.. I would go in May.
gosh even this week it was 31 degrees.

1st week of May last year was beautiful - mid 80's but not humid and little rain. Would go again then no hesitation - plus garden festival at epcot was lovely.

Only been once Feb and it was cooler but not freezing. You need to avoid presidents holiday if you go February.

If you can go last minute there are usually some great deals for May - kids have sats/exams so not many families travelling.
