February Crowds???

Hi all!! We were thinking about going the last week in Feb (we're out for Mardi Gras). How are the crowds this time of year? I noticed that this is peak season for hotel rates. It's hard to believe that the last week in Feb would be more crowded than summer months.

What are your thoughts on the last week of Feb??

Weather and crowd wise good time to go. I don't understand the hotel rates unless that is Daytona 500 time.

Come on guys... ANybody else ever been in February? What are the crowds like and why are the hotel rates considered peak season??

Peak season includes President's Day week when all the schools are closed in the northeast.

Yes, but President's Day week is not typicallly the last week in Feb, is it?? I wasn't sure about that. Some neighbors of ours went last Mardi Gras which fell on the 1st week of March (still peak season) and said the crowds were minimal. I was just stunned when I checked and it was peak season.

I go in the early part of Feb. and it is rarely crowded.

I have been there the last week of February and it was great. The crowds where low and the weather was great. Temperture was low to mid 70s. The whole week I was there there was not a cloud in the sky. I will be going again and would go that last week of Feb.
