Hello

Planning ahead for an Aulani visit and wondering if anyone has visited in February before. Previously we’ve done May twice to Hawai’i before kids! February has been our go to month to escape the cold and go to Disney world for the past 8 years. I am nervous Hawai’i maybe too chilly etc in February. Just curious what others may have experienced in their “winter months” there. Thanks so much for any help!

Hawaii weather will be great in February! The ocean water might be a little bit colder, but I went in December and was still able to swim.

As a local, Feb is typically one of the colder months here maybe mid to high 70’s (lol) but similar to what we’ve just had here, the rain is what’s unpredictable at this time and that could put a damper on things. It is a little calmer around the state as a non-peak time as spring break approaches (not just tourists but locals as well). I know the points are also at its low mark but that is the only concern I’d have. Hope this helps some!

We spent a couple weeks there in Feb. The water was nice, and we had high 70s low 80s during the day. A bit chillier at night. We did have intermittent rain for 4-5 days, and one huge storm with lightening and the loudest cracks of thunder I’ve ever heard where we lost pretty much the whole day.

For us, the rain wasn’t as much of an issue as the wind. It can get quite intense at times, to the point where they’ll close both the pool and the beach, which happened a couple times. But even when they don’t close, it can get unpleasant sitting outside.

Thank you for the response. Curious if when the wind is rough at Aulani would going to a different part of the island be a better idea? Maybe the wind is not as intense? I just wouldn’t want to be stuck in a room with two rambunctious boys often!

I know when it’s windy at Aulani, it’s also windy in Honolulu, not sure about other parts of the island. But that shouldn’t prevent you from sight seeing on days when the wind is acting up.

What months are considered off-peak?
I'm just thinking when the points chart is lowest and I believe Feb is a low peak time. Usually before the Spring Break crowd. Other than that, I'd use the points chart to gauge. We will be heading there in 15 days during a state holiday weekend (Kuhio Day). Hope this helps! =)

Yes! Especially if you're seated by the water playground area! It surely rips around in there!

Just a follow up as Feb wrapped up, lots of rainy days this past month but realize it is one of the lower point months so it’s very understandable.

We were just there Feb. 15 through the 23rd. Pay attention to the holiday weekend! We didn't and it was VERY full being President's weekend. Many locals come to the resort for the long weekends just making it very crowded. During the week though it's a GREAT time to go in February! Perfect weather, there may be a rain storm that passes through, which we had, but you can always wait it out and it makes for beautiful rainbows!
