February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Hey everybody... it's been busy here :goodvibes

well we got 4 inches of snow last night and it's below freezing = roads are treacherous = my patients cancel  At least 1 showed up and I got to have an extra long lunch... unfortunately not Panera but you guys made me so hungry for it!

pgsahm2 - ouch on the waxing... i hate them but they're totally worth the pain. Mine is scheduled for Saturday. At least we'll both have beautiful eyebrows :lmao:

Jen - I know we both have a lot of snow right now... but have you checked the weather for Feb 5th? As of now it's going to be just cloudy and best of all NO SNOW! :thumbsup2 Let's hope it stays that way for the 6th and 7th Have fun with laundry:laundy:

Sabrina, my sister and father get migraines and they are pretty much incapacitated when it happens. I'm glad you're feeling better. I guess you and I will be the "snooty" :snooty: ones in the group. LOL :lmao:

I'm back from the eyebrow fun. :thumbsup2 I don't mind it so much. Now a bikini wax scares me...:scared: I'd love to do it but am a bit afraid.

Friday is my pedicure day. Man, I feel all gussied up for this trip. We should do this more often!

You guys and all of your snow!! Yuck! It's rainy here today, and parts of VA did get some snow and freezing rain. We're a little too south, which is fine by me! I'm ready for spring. And coming back from a week in the Carribean is going to kill me.

Thanks for all of the Facebook fun! I really need to pixiedust: and get something done!!!!!

I know! You guys are getting more than us right now-- we're on the upper edge of it (we are right on the I-70 line). But we're supposed to get hit pretty good tonight, so I'm looking for another snow day tomorrow... Where are you guys flying out of? We have to go out of Pittsburgh. I hope the weather stays clear-- you're right-- so far the forecast looks good!!! It can snow after we leave though so there are snow days and the boys will have less absences counted...

Uh oh-- kid crying-- Gotta go see what happened! bbl :)

lets see....i dont leave til the day OF soooo i am doing the beautifications on FRIDAY, hair, brows and bikini but the pedi is next WED.....we are all going to be just GAW-JUSS!! puckerup:

Hi ladies and gents,

Facebook is overwhelming to me :scared1: I seem to get caught going in circles. My inbox exploded with so many requests, confirmations, invites...aaagh. How dooes this work? I only tried to get hooked up with you guys and then a couple more family or friends...next things I know all hecks broken loose.

Talk me down from the proverbial ledge  I'm embarrassed because I now feel so old. I was a software trainer for years and consider myself to be very saavy but facebook has whooped my butt!:faint:

I actually got accepted and requested by a sort of family member I purposely didn't click on.

So, how does one hide on facebook. IM-ing allows you to set yourself as being away. Can I do the same in facebook?

****************************

Onto Disney things...I'd rather talk about Disney! Disney, Disney, Disney. OK - I feel better now.:rotfl2:

Snow Day - I worked at home through my snow day. DS9 sledded and played ALOT - he had a ball!

I think I will be losing my "work at home on snow day" benefit shortly -we got an email about new policy... I will probably play dumb until I have to do otherwise.... Anyway, I shovelled the driveway which was good because tonight was rec center workout and its CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER!

And yes, we need to get ALL OF THIS CRAZY weather out of the way before next week!!!

CRUISE - working on door magnets! Yay! We decided to put one FE together on board because it will travel easier as components.... :-) DH has been really cool about the need to haul stuff on plane. I think its because I am not in my usual post xmas doldrums. 11 days until I fly AWAY!

Hang in there everyone and stay warm. And if you live somewhere warm - enjoy it!

Wow, Allen! Your photog skills are amazing! What type of camera do you use? The pix are so clean and sharp even the soaring bird!

I hope you don't get much snow or ice in Manchester tonight!

Again, happy belated birthday :bday: !
~ Dee

I have a Sony Alpha 200. It is a digital SLR so I have fun with all my old Minolta 35mm film stuff. I will be posting pics from our trip within a few days of our return. But I don't want to think of that yet.

Thank you all for the belated birthday wishes but I'd rather get them in person in some warmer weather :beach:

Dee: You crack me up! I feel the same way about FB. I've only had mine for about a month and now I can't keep up with it either. I feel your pain.:confused3

I'm so confused now, with peoples real names, screen names, so many Michelles, and now photos! I'm trying to keep up, but I gotta tell ya...I'm still for nametags! This comes from a person (me) who can't even get her own kids names right! Just ask them.::yes:: ::yes::

I sure can't wait to meet you all and put real names to real faces.

So, I'm tanning now, been for about a month on and off. Noone can tell, except me, cuz the only part of me that's actually tan is my BUM! Which, BTW, nobody will actually see on the cruise. EGADS!:scared: What's up with that?

:flower3:

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. Feeling super today – the extra bit of sleep the past two mornings since we haven’t had school definitely helped! I am really lucky to have an awesome boss who isn’t a time stickler, as long as we are there and the work gets done he’s cool. Plus, I’ve been there after everyone else has left and worked from home and on Saturdays lots of times before, so I have a couple “get out of jail free cards” I’m holding on to. It looks like I’ll get to sleep in a little tomorrow too because it is now sleeting here in Damascus. :thumbsup2

Sue – “Say honey, whered' ya' get' that big hickie, she sure had a big set of lips...” “I do know as was mentioned, I gotta send a post card from HELL...That way I too can say I've been to Hell and back.”

Hysterical! Good thing I wasn’t drinking anything when I came to that one! :rotfl2: I am now seriously considering a side trip to Hell, just for the postcard. But I’m worried it might be too far away. Does anyone know about how long the trip is from the dock to Hell and if it’s easy to get to? Hmmm. Anywhere else that question would have all kinds of unintended ramifications, but my VV buddies know what I mean.

Marie – I don’t think I can handle a drink of that nature before 10 am :faint: ! From the info on the DCL site, it looks like we can leave whenever we want after the dolphin part (we get taxi vouchers) but we have to “check out” first. I guess they’ll explain that procedure to us when we get there? :confused3 I was thinking of leaving the park around three, unless my mom has lobsterized before then, getting back to the dock around 3:30 or so, heading up to Margaritaville and doing the souvenir thing, and depending on what time it is then and whether pirate night is actually that night, maybe enjoying a beverage or two. You are more than welcome to join us if you like, maybe we’ll run into each other at Chankanaab or we can set up a meeting place before, although I have no idea what to expect at the park, so I don’t know if that would work. I’m sure we’ll see each other before then though so we can work out the details.

I imagine you could take a cab from the Radisson to the port, and you’d probably have a better chance of getting there when you want. I was told to schedule the shuttle pretty early because the space fills up. When I called around Christmas the only time slot they had available for the handicapped shuttle was noon. I don’t know if other slots are still available since we had to specifically request the hc shuttle, but I would definitely call and ask since the shuttle’s free with the cruise stay package – I got the phone number off the website, whatever the main number for the hotel is works to arrange the shuttle.

I have the whole beauty package scheduled for Sunday, although I don’t really enjoy all the pampering as much as I should. I’m so relaxed and hypnotized by the language that the ladies speak that I always seem to doze off during manicures – which can get pretty messy if I have a sleep jump! I’m terribly ticklish so pedicures are borderline tortuous. And of course, ripping facial hair out by the roots is never fun. But it’s all necessary I suppose. I’ve thought about trying to sneak in a couple of tanning sessions too, but it depends on what the weather does in the next few days. I should be able to hop in before my spa stuff on Sunday just to get some color in my face at least. I’m not even going to attempt to contemplate a bikini wax – wow – Michelle you are a brave soul!

The thing to remember about Facebook is, once you’ve looked at everyone’s pictures, you really just have to check in once or twice a day to get the updates and status changes and check out any new pictures, which should all pop up on your wall. After the first few days it’s not an all consuming activity like the DIS can be! Oh, just in case anyone has seen or comes across my cousin’s current profile pic – she’s getting her belly button pierced – it looks like something very different if you just glance at it! :scared1: And I’ll apologize in advance for any language my younger friends may use. Don’t get me wrong, I have quite a few adult vocabulary words in my repertoire, but these kids today (ha) can be quite um, colorful. Anyways, what really eats up a lot of time is searching for people you used to know to see if they have a page – be careful with that one!

I really should also be finishing up my packing and finalizing my to-do lists for this weekend. But it’s so much fun when we all procrastinate together! :grouphug: I will do something productive tomorrow, I will.

Your whole post made me laugh! I completely agree about the name tags. I'm having trouble keeping up with who's who too. And at least you'll know your bum is tan, that's what's important!:rotfl:

Oops, it's past my bedtime again. Happy packing, laundrying, FE making, and everything else that we all have to get done sometime in the next 11 days or less! Good night everyone!

Do they post weather reports for the week in the Navigator or on the TV messages? I'm just wondering in case we have an excursion booked but the weather is raining...would it be possible to cancel the excursion and how much notice is needed? 24 hour notice or more?

Anyone that has sent their real 1st name, I am creating laminted name tags (with our badge logo) that I will pass out at the 1st meet, sorry, I would be at terminal before noon. The remainders I'll take to the cabin numbers that you have given me. I'll have some blank badges also and a permanet marker to write your names on. So anyone that hasn't sent their real first names and wants a badge with it on it, please send your names to me by end of day Wednesday, I'm 3 hours later than most of you. I'm printing and laminated on Thursday this week. Name tags will include Disboard IDs and First Name and relationship, ie DD24. I hope this well help everyone out, it will me

Thanks everyone. Susan

Susan,

You are amazing. Thanks for are your help on keeping me organized. It is really appreciated.

Phil

Susan, you've saved my life! Thank you so much. That means, I can make my kids wear them too, even at home!:) :)

We are so blessed here on this board to have people like you! Have a great day!

Susan, Does the concept of "Time" not relate to you?:confused3 Or are you in a parallel universe where there is more than one of you to get all this done?:goodvibes
Gratitude and awe can't begin to cover the appreciation of all your hard work!
THANK YOU VV Godess!
I just finished one of my FE extenders, will try to post picture later of my "primitive work". Target has hanging pocket thingy for $2.50 in dollar section. I cut it in half ( it was too big) And covered the ready made pockets with everyone's pick of fabric. Thanks goodness for fabric glue! I'll post before and afters later today.

Kathy...

Well said. Susan has been able to discover that each day actually has 36 hours and she only needs to sleep for about 2. That is how she can be so productive.

:rotfl2: :lmao: Sorry this just made me laugh, if anyone is a LOST fan you'll know why!! Which it comes on tonight and I'll be glued to the screen.:hyper:

Sue, I feel like you're the momma hen of the group. On your nametag you need to put Momma Sue. Thank you for all that you've done! :flower3:

I'm sitting here drinking coffee :coffee: and trying to find my zen for the day. I slept hard last night and it's always harder to wake up after that kind of sleep. Yawn....

10 days and we're sailing away on the big blue ocean. It's sinking in a little more each day. I still have so much to do. I'm staying home today so maybe I'll turn off this stupid :badpc: thing and get something done. Or maybe I'll join the "I'll do it tomorrow" club.

As for Facebook, don't be too overwhelmed. It's all in good fun! Just check it every now and then when you get the chance and don't sweat it. The cool thing is when you find friends from years ago that you've lost touch with. I've reconnected with a lot of high school friends that I hadn't seen in 15 years.

The boys get report cards on Friday and thankfully they are getting all A's. Otherwise they'd be sitting in the cabin the whole trip. Okay, maybe not the whole trip... But... They are smart kids and we're proud of their hard work. Now if only we could get their smart mouths under control..............::cop:

Off to Facebook I go! Later gators! :wave2:

good morning every one, I just wanted to say hello real quick before I have to get kids off. I typed a long note here earlier and went back to look up someones name and lost my reply, ughhh so mad, I'll be back and retype in a bit, gotta move kids out to bus! later

Michelle Patterson

Morning all, Hope everyone is warm and well. I really don't want to be at work today since a good part of my job is outside and I've had about all the snow I can take this year.

Sue just one question, what are you going to do with yourself after the cruise? LOL Your hard work is really appreciated.
