February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

I just checked an old email address of mine that I check only a few times a month. Guess what??!!! I had an email with a 40% off pin code in it!!!!! I think we are most definitely going to do the $99 bounceback and hopefully use the pin code to stay at WDW for a few nights too. I'm so over the moon right now. This will make it so much easier to convince dh to stay at WDW during the same trip!!!!

Good luck Monica! :cheer2:

Just finished pulling together all of the clothes for the 4 of us. Since we are doing a week at WDW prior to the cruise, I figured that between all of us we need 88 outfits!!!! :scared: :crazy2: :faint: 15 days, 7 nights dinner, times 4! Thank goodness we are staying at a timeshare and I plan on doing a lot of laundry!! :laundy: The real fun will come when I try to cram all of this into as few suitcases as possible. I was already planning a WalMart trip to get all of the baby essentials rather than try to pack those.

I didn't realize that DVC points cruisers weren't eligible for upgrades. Guess I should stop checking the DCL site constantly! I'm a little nervous staying on Deck 2 because I've heard that you can feel the motion a lot more. We've always stayed on Deck 6 or 7.

2 weeks from now I will be arriving in Florida!!!! pixiedust:

If you hear an Epson Printer Screaming........:rotfl2: It be mine! Lists, and names more lists and dates , magnets and nametags OH MY!

Mickchick: I have an 11 year old Son named Christian! maybe we can have the boys meet as well.

TinkerKat--I just got back from Home Depot and Jo Ann's with my Christian and had a talk in the car about how he hopes he can find friends his age! I just told him about your Christian and he got so happy!!!:) :) :)

I love that!!princess:

Ok, so I am armed with....many Mickey paint chips...What do I do now?

I also have fabric, dowel rods, fabric paint, and more to make our very own FE's. (x 2 for my boys cabin) Wish me luck. That's Christian and my project for this pm.:scratchin :scratchin

I'm going by my old standby when it comes to everything creative...here goes..."There is no wrong way to create". So however it turns out, I'm gonna be happy. (I say this now, but ask me tonight how it all went!)

Also, I am planning on sending all my FE etc to OKW, this seems like an underground plan as I cannot find out how to do this!! It sure seems like it shouldn't be tough. Any advice is welcome!

BREAG A LEG MONICA!

If you were lucky enough to find the "old" paint chips which are already mickey shaped, woo hoo!! just get some magnetic tape and stick it on the back.. If you were like me and got mickey paint chips that are glued onto a rectangular piece of cardboard, boo hoo, that means lots of cutting out. Maybe my hometown Home Depot caught onto us naughty people stealing all their Mickey shaped paint chips and they are trying to make it very difficult for us. We got lots of white ones that the kids want to color/decorate so I guess they aren't as discouraged as me, of course Im the one doing all the cutting.

good luck

try your local UPS? They are pretty fast.

oops sorry, this went 2x

mickchick

Yes, sad to say, my Mickey's are in the rectangle and require cutting. I did feel like a bit of a theif, walking out with only paint chips in my hand...if only they new what was happening with them.:)

Do I have to notify OKW the package is coming? Will they automatically hold it for me until I get there?

Michelle, 15 days!!! Wow that is a lot of clothes. We'll be gone 10, and I'm crazed! Plus a baby, that's the hardest, they require so much! Thank God for the laundry options!:laundy: Where are you staying again?

off again to the FE's, I can't seem to walk by the computer today without seeing what's going on today with my Dis pals!

Mickchick and Tinkercat - I showed my nine year old boy the list and he is hoping to make friends as well ;-)

My 9 year old boy will be anybody's best friend as long as they'll listen to him talk... A LOT. lol

mickchick....Im thinking of stopping at Home Depot again and asking if they have the old mickey chips...I've sent packages to the wilderness lodge, if you call them and tell them it's coming it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you are at the hotel, checked in before the package arrives, UPS can tell you exactly when to ship it so it gets there when you do. You could also have it shipped to another UPS store and just pick it up there when you arrive. I don't know where the UPS is in Disney, but there has to be one, that way if it arrives before you they will hold it, just call and make sure they will do it. Good Luck.

This reminds me of a time I traveled to Captiva without my husband. Me and my four children, one being an infant, and a friend of my daughter. It was so hard with car seats, strollers, etc in the airport that I had all my luggage shipped home from Captiva except for the stroller, lol. It cost a small fortune but saved me lots of aggravation at the airport. Haha, just wanted to share

We are going to be at SSR for 5 night was thinking about doing the same thing. I was going to SSR on Monday to see if it is possible. I know that I have been to conferences and CSR and they ship stuff to the hotels all the time for that, but I don't know about guests.

When I find out, I'll let you know.

UPDATED

I just got off the phone with SSR, they said you can ship to the resort and guest services will hold the package until you pick it up. I'll probably go either UPS or Fedex who every is the least expensive.

The CM acted like they do it everyday, no big deal. You just need their proper address.

I believe this is the information for OKW
Disney's Old Key West Resort
1510 North Cove Road
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Thanks guys! I kinda feel like shipping everything!

patrsn: I TOTALLY remember those days! I'm so glad I have boys, who I'm (literally begging) to bring more than one outfit for 10 days!!! Gone are the days of all the extras. I miss alot of things about the kids when they were little...but not that!:)

time to make dinner:wave2:

********************************

In addition to the upgrade fairy I think we'll have to invoke the good-health and good-weather fairies for our group. I do hope all stomach bugs are gone and do not show again and as for your poor foot...I'd chip in some coins to get you a really cute cabana guy to carry you everywhere:angel:

***********************************

I'm all for that!!! I'm now in the official "crutch" phase. I'm hoping that those will be gone in time for the trip. If they're not, I'll gladly trade them in for the cabana boy :)

Michelle-- when we were making reservations, I was concerned about motion. They told me that the lower and/or more central you are to the body of the ship, the less movement you feel. So, movement wise, you should be ok if that is true.

Monica-- Break a leg!!!

I forget who posted the points question-- I think there are positives and negatives. Some people will say absolutely not-- that you should not get DVC to cruise. It does take a lot of points. I think it depends GREATLY on what time of year you go and what kind of cabin you get. Ours, at the time of booking, resulted in a $15 per point value. The downside is you're paying points per person, but the upside is you can use points for some people and pay for others. It cost us 389 points for myself, DH and DS6. We paid $639 for DS4. BUT we had a bunch of extra points because they gave us 2 years of points (08 and 09) plus developers points when we signed on last February. There's no way we would have that many points every year. The reason we did it now is because we knew we would never have that many points again, so it was now or never. But what perfect timing with the $99 deal, because at least I know I'll get at least one more out of it!!! I probably confused more than I helped, but that's just an example :)

Time for work!

Jen :)

The paint chips that I got from our local Home Depot, also had the mickey shaped paint chips on cardboard. When I got them home and my oldest DS starting looking at them, he noticed that they the mickey heads peeled off the cardboard, fairly easy. It saved alot of cutting and wasn't too diffcult.

Hope that helps some...

PGsahm2,

If your son talks even a little about Pokemon or things like that, my son will TOTALLY listen :-)

I was wondering if you all won't mind sharing your real 1st names.

I am making tags to put on all my FE Gifts so I won't mix up what is for who after I wrap them up. I thought about putting your user name and then like

DisRaders = Patrick
DW = Jennifer
DS5.8 = Aiden 5.8 years old

We ordered our FE stuff but hasn't come in yet. We live in Northern Virginia and everything is shut down due to the inauguration. Weather has been chili but we are from Northern Ohio originally so we like that fact that it hasn't snowed here yet this year. I had my Benford 6000 snow blower tuned up so of course - no snow.

We have our snorkeling gear, pirate costumes, FE (from eBay), formals... we'll need to ship a CONEX with all our stuff and there is just three of us.

We'll also have five weeks of P90X under our belts so the vacation will be a big recovery time for us. We feel like we've been beat with clubs but it will get better. We've done this before with great results - then the holidays came...

See you all in three weeks.

Patrick Thanks for the information.

Sometime, it feels like we all need a truck to get our stuff to the ship. But, I ususally, then go back and unpack half the weight. Although I still feel like I have to much packed...

The P90X must be a great workout system. I had to look up what you were talking about. You are going to be in great shape for this cruise. I wish I had dedication to working out, but I don't, I spend way to much time in front of this computer. I know I would be much happier and feel a lot better too.

Well good luck with all the packing and looking forward to meeting at one of the cruiser meets.

See ya soon.

:guilty: Susan, Sorry but I made a typo on our cabin # on my last post, and I notice that you updated it on the lists (wow you are so efficient!!).
It should be 6054.

BTW we are arriving Feb 1st, staying at the Grand Beach (timeshare). Hopefully we will spend 4 days @ WDW, one day at Cape Canaveral.

Monica - all the best for your opening night pixiedust:

Michelle, sorry I missed the shout out - we are on Pacific time. I'm always up by 5:20am but so is DS18mos, so I couldnt get to the computer. I'll tune in another day tho.

For those on a strict budget thinking about Key West. Someone posted this link and I wanted to share it. We've decided it's the way to go. The pricing is reasonable. And kids 4-12 travel cheaper. ( as opposed to 9 being the cutoff age between child/adult pricing.)
I think it will allow my large family the option to split up when my younger ones have had enough and DH and DS wanna check out a bar or something.

Hope it helps.
