February 5, 2006 WONDER CRUISE

I"m really hoping for nice weather, but I'm counting on it not being more than 75 degrees and most likely lower that that. It also sounds like this time of year can be pretty breezy out in the seas. I'm thinking its more like capri weather vs shorts, but I hope I'm wrong, and will be taking both! I'm also trying to figure out which type of dress to pack. I'm not taking anything too formal, but for Palo am wondering if I should be thinking summer type dress or Fall type dress. Either way, I'm going to bring a neutral looking sweater that I can take to cover up in case it's cool in the dining rooms. I just hate packing for so many possibilities!

I am really hoping for low 80s of so on the cruise but of course I have to pack for cooler weather than that also. I am trying to pack light but this time of year it is so difficult because I feel like I need to bring at least 4 outfits for each of us for each day. Warm day outfit, cooler day outfit, warmer evening outfit, cooler evening outfit.... Aarggghhhh!

I am getting really nervous about the drive and about the whole trip. DS has been sick lately and DD is CRANKY! I was actually laying in bed last night around 3 am wondering if we should just call it a loss and stay home. :( As it gets closer these nightmare scenarios of weather problems, illness and cranky miserable kids (and parents too) keep overtaking me at all hours. I don't know if I will make it another 15 days until we leave.

Becka.............maybe you're kids will get it out of their system now :wizard:
I know with my kids, when they are bored and in the same routine, they push it a little bit more and can be a little more cranky than when they get somewhere different ( esp. w. lots of excitement). I bet when they have so many new things to see on the ship, they will go with the flow and forget about anything that might have been bothering them before. My 9 month old is teething sooo bad right now and she just got over crup  I think I am going to be a little obsessed for the next couple of weeks about keeping them healthy....keeping them away from other little kids and washing their hands a- lot.
I just really hope we have a nice day at CC and actually make it there. I was reading that a recent 4 - day didn't get to dock because of the bad weather. That was our favorite part of our trip when we went on the Magic.

JO-Anne, did you say that you had a recent Navigator? BTW, we will be at the CC party on Tuesday. My daughter is also going crazy w/ bathing suits...I just hope it will be nice enough to use one! We are planning on taking the kids to the pool after we get on board.

Becka, do you use powdered formula for your DD? We do , and I'm thinking about how much bottled water we will need to bring on board.

We are going to get some lunch after we board and then hope to be at the pool soon after. Maybe we will see you there. :wave2:

We do use powdered formula for DD. She is drinking regular milk from a cup already so I am considering just putting regular milk in her bottles just to make it easier. I am trying to get her off of the bottle and I am afraid by putting regular milk in them she will become more attached because she really likes her milk. She really has only been taking around 3 bottles a day lately and I would love to have that down to 2 in the next few weeks.

How do you plan on packing your water? Do you just pack an extra suitcase?

Jill - if you want to send me a PM with your email address and I can forward you the navigators that I got from mid Dec sailing.

Jo-Anne

We got our docs yesterday! :cool1:

Are you guys planning on packing a power strip that is rec. on the board? I just don't want to go too crazy packing too much stuff. What about a nighlight?

What time is everyone planning on getting to the port?

What time is everyone planning on getting to the port?

We are part of the land/sea package, so we won't get there until the DCL busses bring us. It sounded like they pick up at the hotels between 11 and 12.

We received our docs yesterday too!!!

Joanne did you get yours?

I think we are planning to arrive around 1:30.

Everyone in our house is so excited now. Can't wait!!!!! :cool1:

No documents as of last night - hopefully when I get home they'll be there! Jill, last time we were in an inside cabin (and are again this year!), so we ensured we took a bedside small LED clock so I could see the time in the night/morning since you have no idea if it's 2am or 2pm without a window! We didn't have a nightlight, but from what I remember, if you don't close the closet door tight, the closet light stays on, so we used that as our night light! We didn't feel the need for an extra power cord, but it depends on what you're bringing extra!

Once we get through my daughters skating competition next week (Chris we're in your neck of the woods - in Ajax), then I'll be able to focus on packing! My head's not yet in "vacation" mode - too busy at work and running to skating rink - It might hit me when the documents arrive! Jo

We have an 8 AM ADR for the 'Ohanas breakfast that morning. We will drive to the port right after breakfast (I am estimating leaving WDW around 9:30) so I imagine we will be there by 10:30-11:00.

I am not taking a power strip because I don't want to overpack and we don't really have that many items that will need to be plugged in. I planned to use the closet light as a night light but now I am wondering if we will need more light. Are there lamps by the beds - are they the 3-way type lamps?

Still no Documents :sad1: Am I the only one without them!?? Oh well, at least now you can print all the documents you need from their website in case they don't arrive!

Becka , where is Ohanas located? It was highly rec. on the dining board. Are you doing any other character dining w/ your kids at WDW?

We are planning on going to Grills the night before the cruise to see the Magic depart and eat. I guess we will plan on getting to the terminal around 11:00. It looks like we can get on around 12:00?

'Ohana is at the Polynesian resort. The character breakfast is now Lilo and Stitch. The last time we were there was in Feb '04 on our last WDW trip and it was Mickey, Goofy, etc.. We really enjoyed it. The food was very tasty and DS had a blast. :) I think it will be a fun way to kick off the day.

We are also doing the 1900 Park Fare character dinner and the Liberty Tree Tavern character dinner during our WDW portion of the trip so we will have plenty of opportunities to see the characters.

Well I'm still at work so don't know if docs have arrived, but just went into the Disney site to check my reservation and Yipee, we were changed to main dinner seating 6pm! One less thing to worry about!

Someone talk me down from the ledge!!!!

I have been checking the 15 day forecasts at Accuweather (I know they are not that accurate but sometimes they at least get a warming/cooling trend correct) and they have the two days before we leave with ice/snow and the day after we leave with ice/snow. That is bad enough because I am worried about actually getting out of town but it looks like the day we get in Orlando a cold snap will be starting. Highs only at 62/63. :sad2: The 15 day only goes to Feb 4th right now but it looked like even Nassua had high temps in the 60s. :cold:

I guess 60s is better than 30s here at home but I really really really wanted it to at least be in the low/mid 70s. I guess I can only hope the forecast is totally wrong!

We also received our docs several days ago, confirming the upgrade I spotted online. weee.....

Is anyone else packing? I started on Sunday and I have a really good start. Right now things have just been thrown in the suitcases so I still have to go back and organize it but at least it is starting to take shape. We actually leave next Tuesday night and I want to have all of my packing done by this Sunday afternoon.

The weather reports are looking better. Departure day still does not look great but at least Nassau was in the mid-70s the last time I checked. I can live with mid-70s. :)

Ok, starting to get worried...no documents yet! I emailed the on-line travel agent we used, but not sure what they can do. I know I can print out the documents on line, but its not the same as getting something "official"! Becka, I've actually been throwing cruising odds and sods (swim goggles, swim suits, laundry det, bounce, glow in dark necklaces, pirates patches etc.!) in an extra laundry basket for a couple of months now as I remember things, but I am no where near clothes packing. I'm reserving this Sunday as a DO NOTHING day for the family so we can concentrate on everyone packing! Hard to believe we leave in 9 days! :hourglass

hi i am not sure if i am doing this right but my husband and i will be with you all on the 2/5/06 wonder trip. it is our 7th wedding anniversary and we have never been on a real vacation. so needless to say we are very excited. i started pulling clothes and stuff together last week but my husband currently works in iraq and it is difficult to say what he will or will not fit into. i have been to the department stores so many times buying various sizes that the store clerks know me by name. oh well cest la vie! i can't believe we will be leaving here shortly. my husband flies in on the 3rd and we leave new orleans on the 4th to make to the ship for the 5th. i hope everyone has a wonderful time and that we have beautiful weather. :cloud9:

Wow, Bayou....you must be very excited....hope you guys have a wonderful time.

I am trying to pull things together for packing. My DH and I have to go to Vegas for his company work trip this weekend. I 'm kind of freaking out about all of the details for that w/ the kids and then turning around and getting ready for this trip. It's not easy packing w/ a 2 1/2 yo and a 9 month old!

Is anyone doing Atlantis on Nassau day? I booked the Dolphin Swim direct and then I thought we would just go back to the ship and hang out ( and little ones take naps). My DH asked me yesterday, why didn't you book Atlantis? :furious: OK, he hasn't wanted to plan one thing about this trip until now! I just think it would be too full of a day. I guess the Swim is over by 11:30.

I'm wishing :wizard: for perfect weather and smooth sailing! :boat: Jill
