February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

We are hoping for good weather, too! I will drive down there if I have to (we have done that 2 times already!!)!! That is great that you have family to drive you to the boat! We are doing the one way rental for getting there and leaving as well. We have a later flight home after the cruise so we are going to hit DTD in the hopes of missing all the cruisers trying to get home! I won't complain, though, if the flight home is delayed! I would much rather be in Florida than MA at this time of year!!! :)

Suprise, suprise this morning. We got snow overnight. Just enough to mess up the morning commute . . .

We leave in 5 weeks and 2 days!

Happy Wednesday all!

:cool1: :cool1:   Just cannot wait... keeping very very busy preparing for it!
BTW .... Aerosmith was great last night but I cannot talk today! (That is probably a good thing for everybody else!!) ::yes::
Happy Day to all! "Sea" you soon! :cool1: :cool1:

Hey all!!

I noticed on the email chart that someone has a nine year old son going on our cruise. The names were not on there so I am curious who it is and if you would be interested in having your son exchange an email or two with my nine year old son before the cruise. We are traveling with a large group but there is nobody his age. He is into (actually obsessed) with baseball, PSP and Bionicles. Any other parents of 9 year old boys on our thread feel free to respond. On the chart there seemed to only be one but I know we are not all on it yet. Thanks!!

Hi Kelli,
I bet my son Matt would love to email with your DS. He is 8.5 so that's pretty close to 9. At least they'll be in the same Lab group. Our email is on the form.

Rick

Thanks Rick!!
Griffin is nine but he is in 3rd grade (late birthday). It sounds like Matt is right in between two of my boys. Ryan will be a few weeks from turning 8 when we cruise so he will be in the Lab 8/9s too but his best friend is one of the kids in our group. Griffin may feel a little left out so I thought getting to "know" another boy before hand might be good. My youngest, Jason is five and will have three of his buddies in the club 5/7's with him.

Is this Matt's first cruise? It will be our second and my boys are kid's club fanatics. The last time my husband and I were not prepared for how much time they would want to spend in there. Now we are and we are traveling with four other couples so we are psyched for some adult time!! It makes it so much better knowing the kids are just as psyched for some club time!! I will get your emailf rom the spread sheet and have Griffin send an email to Matt. Thanks again!!!

Kelli

Hi Kelli,
We got Griffin's email last night (kids had already gone up to bed). I'll try to sit down with Matt tonight to get a response. Matt is in 3rd grade as well (Zack is in 1st). This is the third cruise for both boys. Matt really enjoyed the sports activities last time (4-night) and liked staying up late watching movies in the club. Zack was not a big fan, preferring to watch the shows with us. We did ask that the kids choose at least one activity per day in the club/lab so DW and I could have some alone time. I'm hopeful with the boys in different groups this time, that they have some more fun in the program. I've been dowloading Navigators to sell them on the different activities.

Rick

I think it's a bit early, but I'll ask anyway . . . .

Has anyone received their docs yet? I've read that some folks on the Feb 11th Magic and Feb 12th Wonder have received their docs.

I'm in serious countdown mode now . . . .

Rick

To piggyback on Kelli's request, my son Zack is looking for a friend as well. He is 6 years old and attends the 1st grade. Please either send me an email or PM me with contact details.

Thanks!

Rick and Zack

Hi Rick! No we dodnt receive our doc's yet,but I also read that someone got theirs who is sailing on the 12th. So I am anxiously waiting! :rolleyes1 They're forecasting snow for 2nite. YUK!! :cold: Although cant complain too loudly...the 50 degree weather we've been having has been heaven! :cloud9: Well I hope everyone has a nice weekend!! Going to Martina McBride this weekend...Bon Jovi next weekend and then it will be February!! Wooo Hooo!!!

Hi again Rick,

My son Jason is 5 1/2. He is in Kindergarten. He is very friendly and would love another friend. As I said in my other post, he will have three other friends in the Club with him that are in our traveling party and two of the boys are first graders. I will have Jason send him an email soon.

Happy Friday, we leave for the cruise on the Friday before as well.

Bunch of questions....

I've got my DD (14) just about outfitted (no small feat!) and am working on the son. I am thinking that I would bring a pair of navy pants, khaki pants and a pair of dress shorts for him to wear with polo shirts. Can he wear the shorts in the dining room (he is 10)? I am sure he will be more comfortable.

Also we book cat 8, GTY. I can see from going online that they assigned a room to us (right from the beginning), is that our official room number? When and if do you find out if you are upgraded or even assured of a cabin number?

Does anyone have a DD 14 or so I could connect Kelly with?

It is over 60 degrees here in New Hampshire!

Hi Kathy,

We always have our boys (6 and 8) in long pants for dinner. Either khaki or dress. I think with the more relaxed dress code on DCL now, shorts may be OK for kids.

If you have a cabin number, then that is yours. It doesn't mean that an upgrade can't still happen, but I wouldn't count on in.

We're in the 50's here with the sun shining :sunny: . This is a very different winter indeed . . .

Rick

I know the kids don't really run hot and cold but I would bring khaki pants for the boys. It does get a little cool. We've usually done well with the zip-off pants that turn into shorts. My son just zips the bottoms back on for dinner. Or, we go back to the cabin after dinner and change into something more casual for hanging out.

Joshua(11) has started to email back and forth to some kids in his age group. It's exciting to have them getting more familiar with each other. Remember when all we had was snail mail?

I think if any parents are game the kids can meet on the first day. I know I'm getting my cold melon soup! I'm hitting that buffet and then right to the pool. LOL

I cannot believe we're this close.

If anyone wants to get in on this email distribution list send me an email at nshabarekh@snet.net with your email address. I'll add you to our list and we've been emailing the group with family details that we don't necessarily want on the internet.

Happy Friday - we made it.

Rick - I have to call TA this weekend. The docs usually go to AAA first then she calls. Last year we had to call because she'd been too busy.....

Finally! We're staying at the Holiday Inn Oceanside in Cocoa Beach. :sunny:
Now I need to start seriously putting some thought into our door sign. I am really getting excited.

Thirty-five days until we leave for FLA> :cool1:

Eddy

Five weeks from now, we'll all be enjoying our first night on the Magic! DW has been working on our door signs. She's even made a special tye-dye Mickey Mouse shirt for the cruise.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend all . . .

Rick

Hi everyone!

Thanks to Rick ... just sitting here dreaming about our first night on the Magic! :yay: :woohoo:

Winter is back. We got about 4 inches of snow last night, and I must say it's really beautiful. I'm totally not a winter person, but it is nice to see the snow rather than the gloom and doom weather we've had for such a long stretch.

Rick ... I think I read a while back that you did a jeep tour in Cozumel? Just curious how you liked it.

DH and I are now in the midst of a bathroom remodeling project ... THAT should make the waiting time go faster! :thumbsup2

To answer an old question, no documents have arrived for us yet either, but I'm not worried as I think our TA said about two weeks before.

Hi Donna,
Yes, DW and I did the 4x4 jeep tour in Coz two years ago. The jeeps were pretty ratted out, but we had fun. They take you across the island to the windward side. Then it's a very bumpy and pretty trek through the jungle to see some very small Mayan ruins, then to a private beach for some fantastic food and fun in the water. Afterwards, you back track through the jungle and back to town. You get to stop along the way as well at a trading post called the Pee Pee Stop.

The weather folks all talked about this big storm yesterday. Well, we ended up with only 1/10th of an inch of snow. At least the sun was out.

Rick

Does anyone know which night might be the formal night? Was wondering if it was on a sea day or a port day? :confused3

My 13 year old son would love to meet others who will be cruising with us. He has already met one person and is interested in meeting more and I also have a 10 y/o son who would like to me someone. Please e-mail me and I will give you the e-mail address. The boys are really getting excited.
